palm doc/txt audio reader?

Is there a program which will take text and read them out loud for Palm (specifically, the ux-50)? Something like the built-in Narrator for WinXP?

I remember using something like that as a kid on an Apple ][, so I assume our processor can do this also. I tried searching here and googled, but never found such an app?

B/c then I can mount my ux-50 in my car, hook it up to the radio speakers, and buy ebooks which will turn them into audio books.

Maybe I should dust off my C skills and attempt to write it :P

There is a Pocket PC application that does that, but I've never seen one for the Palm. THe PPC one was actually pretty good, and could make audio books basically from any text docuemnt or email. I think it was from Fonix.

The best solution though is just to make them on your PC using one of the numerous programs, and have it record to MP3 format. Then just break the MP3s into chapters (some software does that itself) and you've got your own homemade audio book.

hmmm, that IS a solution of sorts. Not a very elegant solution, because it's not going to be unattended....

I agree. Not ideal. But at least that way you get the processing power of your PC to do the hard work and you get better quality.

You could skip the whole conversion process and get your ebooks straight from audible.com.

I was hoping to be able to scan in some of my fav books, generate a .txt/.doc file and then get it to read from UX.
