Hello, I'm new here. I just got my NX73 for Xmas and am still trying to figure things out. I know I need to get a WL110 card, but then what? I saw on the Sony website that they are giving 30 days free with T-mobile...do I need that? And if I subscribe to T-Mobile can I then connect only at AP's that are set up with T-Mobile or are they interchangeable? I'm sorry if this is a dumb question or if it's been asked a thousand times before. Also, what about when I'm traveling? Will I be able to get online in Europe?

You need to connect to an access point. You can buy one for your house almost anywhere they sell computer stuff and they work best with broadband internet. What you saw for a T-Moblie subscription is so you can access T-Mobile APs which can be found mostly is Starbucks.

Thanks. Yes, that's what I meant. At home I'll just be continuing using my Desktop.

If I subscribe to T-Mobile then I'll only be able to go online at an AP that is also running on T-Mobile (for example). If that's the case that's not that great, is it?

If you get T-Mobile you will be able to get online almost everywhere. Most access points that are not in stores/coffee shops are unprotected so you can get online with or withou a T-Mobile account. Most access points that are in stores or coffee shops require a T-Mobile subsciption.

the WL110 dosent have automatic detection i read so you have to the access points' code...or something like that, so in order to find that out wouldnt you have to subscribe to the provider???...just a question

Just make sure you READ ANY FINE print with the 30 days free. Here is a not so satisfied customer who subscribed (http://pdabuzz.com/desktopdefault.aspx?tabid=30&itemid=150)

Seems you may get more than what you bargained for.

I did not take advantage of the FREE hot spot opportunity.

curious:
If you are refering to the SSID, then I'd expect the WL110 behaves the same as the WL100 and allows the SSID of 'any' (without the quotes) to pick uo any SSID networks. If you meant he WEP key then, no, WL110 will not autodetect it :):):)
