You can't download a copy of the T665 CD since it contains full versions of commercial programs and Sony would run into copyright violations if they allowed a free download of the CD.
The easest answer to call Sony Customer Service and request a new CD. They'll want the serial number from your machine to confim your request is legitimate. I think the cost is something like $12 including shipping.

i assume since you are requesting a t665c cd you own a t665c device, therefore me sharing an iso image would be no violation of any copyright. same as a backup. many of us have been looking for a t665c iso (including me). Other PDA vendors let you download drivers and apps from their support sites, but not sony... I finally found my cd and have posted the 224mb ISO file at http://www.springboardspecialists.com/clie (right click on the file and download to your computer)
It will take some time.....
i would appreciate it if you would email me if you download it just so i know how many people use the site.... i may find another site if lots of people are using it. thanks.

A faulty assumption. If I wanted a free copy of Documents to Go, all I'd have to do is go to your website and download the T665 image. This is one of the reasons why Sony doesn't post the CD for download.
If it's just things like drivers you need, they are already available on the net at places like http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nXtClieClub/files/ . A simple Google search will turn them up.
Lastly, Clie groups seem to have an inordinate number of requests for copies of "lost" CD's. Either there a lot of Clie owners who just can't remember where they put their CD and never made a backup or there are people who want the commercial products on the Clie CD for free.

It's a good thing that not all of us think like you.... :) Not trying to start anything, but Sony COULD make available a version of the CD for download that is stripped down to the essentials. I have many of the CDs on my FTP already and am in the process of taking out the full-versions of the third-party software. I don't think it would be too much to ask for Sony to provide a little better support for their outstanding products. At least give access to the needed USB drivers and the Clie Desktop software. Sony just wants to make an extra buck off of the consumer before he upgrades to a new model. They could even make it into a registration thing. You register your Clie and have access to download the software. There are numerous things Sony could do besides charging for a CD.

But why would anyone want a free copy of DocumentsToGo 4? If that really was the motive of someone asking for a lost CD, I would've thought it'd be more productive to ask for a T3 CD or something like that...
I downloaded the image because I noticed my T675 didn't come with Clié Mail - I've now foud out, much to my dismay, that the 675 doesn't come with a LOT of software that the 665 comes with :/ Why do Europeans always end up getting such a raw deal? (and why the heck did they take out Clié Mail?!)

Another faulty assumption. I never said anywhere that Sony was doing the right thing by not making simple things like drivers available for download. Sony is well known for their crappy customer care and things like this are a good example. What I did say was, as an alternative to Sony not doing what they should, there are other places to find things like drivers.
If someone wants to post a copy of the Sony CD with the commercial content stripped out then I think that's a fine thing. That's not what I've seen, however. I suspect that many of the people who "lost" their CD's are hoping to get Documents to Go for free. I have no way to prove that, of course, but I wonder how many hits a site would get that has the full CD image posted compared to one that has the CD posted with the commercial content stripped out?
And, for heaven's sake, if you have a CD that has a commercial program, make a backup. If you lose the original CD, you still have your backup. You can complain about Sony wanting to make money by charging you for a new CD but call any software company and tell them you lost the programs CD and you'd like to have them send you a new copy for free. How long a list of companies do you suppose that would be?

Because this is a Sony site and Docs to Go 4 is still a good program, regardless if there are newer versions. Go to a Palm site and see how many people are asking for a copy of their "lost" CD there as well.

Docs To Go 4 isn't a good program I'm afraid :p As text editor's go, it's pretty rubbish, and for viewing Word files, you're better off saving as HTML in whatever word-processor you use (MS Word or OO Writer I'm assuming here) and using something like Plucker to synchronise it...
My opinion of course, but it's not hard to get illegal copies of the latest DocsToGo if you really want it.
If you don't condone Sony's actions, why do you speak out against people making copies of the CDs available? It's not hard for Sony to give registered users an online download and I think any kind of statement people can make is a good one, especially if it might also involve other parties.
I'm sure the person who's uploaded this image would quite happily take it down when asked, and like he said, he's stripping away the commercial content - but perhaps such extreme actions might get Sony's attention and it's not like him uploading this image is making it any easier for pirates to find the commercial software that happens to be on it

Docs to Go fits my needs perfectly, thank you. If you've found another you like, more power to you. As you say, there are all sorts of ways to get cracked copies of programs. This web site shouldn't be one of them.
Lunar2003, the person I responded to, did not say he was stripping out the commercial programs. Cerberus said she was. In that case, I say post away. I think my position on Sony's customer care was made clear in my previous post so I don't see myself condoning Sony.
BTW, can you download the CD that comes with the T3 or TE from the PalmOne or PalmSource web site? I doubt it. As I said before, backup your CD and you have no problem.

Although it's common, not all internet users are going to have a CD-R/RW drive, but I suppose I see your point - Having not dealt with Sony customer 'care' (thankfully, from all I've heard and judging from the lack of it on their website), if they provide a phone-service that lets you get another copy of the CD at minimal charge then that's fair enough (do they do that?)

If one does not have a way to back up their CD then that's all the more reason to keep it an a place that you can find it later. I'm sorry, but the amount of request for replacement of lost CD"s here exceeds any other forum I belong to. Either there are a significant number of people here who don't back up their CD's or they somehow put them away and can never find them again. After a while, I have to wonder what's going on.
At least in the US, Sony will send another CD for a total of $12. You have to give them a valid serial number from your Clie first.

I am not a SHE....... :) ;)
I do have to agree with Jim's last post. If it's importnat software, make a backup copy. That's pretty much why I have so many of the Clie CDs already. I have a 120GB external hard drive that has nothing on it but ISOs of backed up CDs. If I happen to lose my original copy, all I have to do is get out that drive and burn myself a new copy!

We are all quite exited, aren't we...
I looked though my install CD but the license terms are not on it, so I can't verify that any terms are being violated by posting the backup image. Certainly downloading and using software for which you have never paid is a violation - so don't do it. But if you own a device and have lost or damaged your cd, I don't see how that would be a violation.
Jim notes that the drivers were at the nXtClieClub yahoo group - i looked and couldnt find them for a T665C.
As an experiement I have put the drivers from the CD's pc/drivers/hotsync folder in a separate directory here:
http://www.springboardspecialists.com/clie/drivers/
The site tracks the IP of those who connect to download these files...
I'm not sure how one installs them independently. if you know how, let me know and i will include the instructions as a readme.

There's nothing special about the USB drivers for any Clie - they are all basically the same. The only difference is ones made for WinXP. Either the Palm USBD.zip file (for WinXP) or the Sony Clie Drivers.zip file will work.
The drivers you have posted should be downloaded to the DriveLetter:\Program Files\Sony Handheld\USB_Driver folder. Right click on the .INF file and choose Install and then reboot. That's all there is to it.
As to license information, you must have lost the pink slip of paper that came with your T665 that clearly defines the end user license agreement. If you don't have that available, look at the 3rdparty\Dataviz folder on your CD and read the license.txt file. It all seems pretty clear to me.

No problemo! I suppose my avatar does sorta look like a girl. It's actually a guy named Spike from an anime series called Cowboy Bebop.

I got mine on ebay without the CD. I think the reason why are seeing so many people ask for CDs is for this reason. Once you get a couple of months on a product and people start selling used ones many of them have lost parts of the original box. I got a great deal, but don't have the CD. I have pretty much all the stuff on the clie, but parts of need it a PC companion. So right now I have a bunch of useless stuff on my clie.

Once again, you can get a replacement CD from Sony for about $12. There are also people here who are posting the T series CD images so that's another alternative.
You can also go to http://groups.yahoo.com/ and search on "Clie". You'll find 76 groups and, between them all , there's hardly a piece of non-commercial software that came on the CD for virtually any model of Clie that can't be found.
It would be nice if Sony would just post the CD images without the commercial software for people like you but, for whatever reason, Sony doesn't put a lot of effort into making customers happy. There are alternatives, however, and all it takes is some searching on the net and you'll come up with everything you need.

OK, I went to the effort and the 4.75 hr upload time to create a CD that does not have the 3rd party directory on it.
It is located in the same place:
http://www.springboardspecialists.com/clie/
file name is: T665wo3rdpty.iso
someone asked what an ISO is...
An iso file is an exact copy of a cd. hopefully you have a cd burner. method is different with each burners software, but basically start it and then look for an option to create cd from image. Or search your burners help for iso file or image file...

Wow!!! 4.75 hour upload? What connection do you have, dial up?
Jim Cooke

Lunar2003,
Sorry about the upload time -you really need to look into a faster connection. Still, you've done the right thing by giving people access to the CD files without trampling on any copyrights and I salute you for it.

ohh Man
I Finally I got the software and got everything running perfectly and my clie just DIED................. This Sucks its just not meant to be
Its battery Died I put it on the cradle to charge and its not turning back on. Anyone have this problem and get throught it or its is just time to upgrade?
Jim Cooke

Have you tried a soft reset? Batteries don't usually just suddenly die. You can have a running process that prevents the Clie from turning back on and a soft reset usually fixes it.
