View Full Version : Same Ole Battery!
BB sent me a new battery for my NZ and I'm sorry to inform you guys but it's the same ole story. I took one shot with a flash and my battery dropped from 98% to 48%. And of course when I take it out of camera mode, the battery life jumps back up to 93%. I can't wait for a new Clie to come out. The UX screen is too tiny for me!

I'm dizzy from the amt. of battery info. there is on this site! Can anybody tell me if there is or is not a battery that will sustain a charge after more than one flash exposure! Mine dies after the first. Thanks

Try the battery fix that is outlined in one of the threads here.
It has worked for me, and seems to work for a few others as well.
Worth a try, costs nothing.

Well as so it happens.. I brought the new battery home and gave it a full (4 hour+) charge. And it can hold up to repeated flash photography.
My original NZ battery have a later s/n (321xx vs. 320xx) than the new one from Mobil planet. But it will drop to almost 40% just launching the Camera s app, apparently they both are not from the "new" 33xxx for 34xxx batch.
I have this theory why people always have better luck with the second battery, and it not Sony's scheme to sell accessory battery.
That we NZ owner are too eager to use the our new Clie, and fail to let the new battery cycle fully for the initial charge. I knew I didn't. And with the second battery people have more patience and give the battery a full charge initially. yielding a better result.
Any thoughts? :D

I definitely gave my battery the full 4+ hour charge cycle on the first go and still suffered from the problem.

Something must be wrong with that "infolithium" logic thingy.
Starting from a full charged 100% battery, lunching Cam S, open the battery meter. I can see the level dropping like it was counting down it almost level off at 15%. No picture was taken. The NZ was on for about 10 min. Turn the unit off, and back on. Meter reads. 90%. Put it back on the cradle it almost took 2 hour for the orange charge light shut off.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I was so certain that mine was defective and thought I had to send it back.
I have an eerie feeling that it's Sony's way of leeching us to buy new batteries.

Yep.. And Almost 100 for a battery? Yep I know it Li , internal monitoring, made by few, "SMART" battery. will it ain't that smart to me. Its saying its empty when it is in fact 90% charged.
I think they "should" get rid of CF slot ,put a higher capacity battery, and have duel MS slot one for wi-fi MS and one for memory. And they don't have to worry about people hacking it and use CF memory and not buy their MS stick.

there are a lot of things that we want in new sony clie models
remember, the NZ is now a year ago and a WiFi MS wasn't in the works
now that its possible, we may see the coming of the greatest PEO of the year
