I was wondering if any windows users were able to play divx avi's using quicktime 6. It always tells me that the codec required is not found in the quicktime database. How do you install the divx codecs into quicktime for windows?

You can't, but there is an alternative: 3ivx supports reading of most MPEG-4 versions including DivX

The reason I ask is because I wanted to convert avi's to quicktime in order to put them onto the clie. I was just looking for a faster way than using tmpgencoder to convert to the avi to mpeg then using image converter to place the file onto the memory stick. Any other ideas?
Try this page. Maybe it helps.

Just recompress your AVI to an MJPEG AVI with uncompressed sound. While files can get pretty big (>1GB) They are REALLY fast (usually about 60fps, 2.5x realtime)
You can use this file with imageconverter
