View Full Version : Critical and unknown problem with my nx70v

My nx70v does not start if I press power button. However, I noticed that it turns on when I soft reset it. But then it loads the "palm powered" screen for about 5mins. And that is not the only problem: It crashes when it wants and even some retail programs do not work, for eg. the clie camera, hotsync and ms import. Each of them worked before the problem.
Before this strange problem everything worked correctly. The nx70v was just lying on my table for one day and next when I turned it on (or actually tried to turn it on due to the power button) the problem began (or I actually noriced it).
I have removed the memory stick and hard reseted the machine, but it doesn't help. If I turn it on using the soft reset and waiting the 5mins loading the "palm powered" screen, then I can turn it off using the power button and that means the button is not physically damaged. So, if anybody knows what to do with this problem, please advice me.

If the problem exists even directly after you hard reset (purging all the data) and before you restore then there must be some physical damage. Are you sure you are hard reseting properly? I mean if the power button is broken you can't really hard reset. Try unplugging the battery and then plugging it back in.

hard reset by holding down the power, pushing the reset pin, and releasing power
all within about 3 seconds.
u should get a question asking "Erase all data? Yes push up. No any other key"
or something along those lines

Don't disconnect your battery if you have a valid warrenty, as it sounds like you are entitled to anouther clie.

DON'T TOUCH THE BATTERY IF YOU STILL HAVE A VALID WARRANTY!!!

Sorry about that. Didn't realize unplugging the battery could void the warranty.

I once solved a similar problem by leaving the unit on (if you are able to do this) until the battery dies and then the next day I put it on the charger and when it had recharged the unit worked fine. A friend with a Palm Zire 71 did the same and everything reset back to factory settings. You may have the same success.

But it randomly shuts off so that wouldn't work more than likely.

I believe he said "randomly crashes" as opposed to randomly shuts off. I wonder if it crashes during use, as opposed to just sitting there turned on with no interaction. When it crashes does it do a soft reset or just lock up while remaining on? i still think that draining the battery will either solve the problem or prove that its a hardware issue.
