View Full Version : Sony is gone, now HP2215

I guess this is the end for me. I had NX80 with the Best Buy protection plan and the NX80 died (third NX in 18 months). BB did not have anything comparable in stock and their computer showed that the warehouse had nothing like it and it would be four to six weeks before I could get another Sony. The only Palms in stock was the demo T3 and a Zire. Of course, they had no idea when another Palm product would be in stock. A call to Sony was at the best frustrating since I found out they had shut down their repair facility for a few weeks over the holidays and it would be approximately 30 days at best to get my NX fixed.

After several phone calls the store manager of BB called and offered to exchange my NX for the HP2215 and a store credit for the difference in price. Since my PDA is my brain away from the office I had little choice. So far it seems like an adequate trade. I do enjoy having Windows Media Player and Real Player. So maybe not so bad after all.

Now the only problem is what to do with a few Sony-specific items that are of no use to me. I have 2 Lexar 128 meg memsticks, one Sandisk 128 meg memstick, and the Sony WL100 wifi card. If anybody is interested, I would trade the memsticks for same size in the CF or SD formats. If interested in the WL100, let me know and we can work something out.

Thanks for all the help you all have given me. Who knows, maybe I'll be back.

Greg

Sorry to hear that you are a victim of Sony's bid to revamp their lineup. It seems like they have some kind of revolution in mind. But the 2215 has its advantages, im sure you'll like it. There are a couple of users here that can help you with good apps and ways to optimize your experience with the 2215. Good luck.

Regarding the wl100, how much you planning to sell for.

I've already sold the WiFi card and one of the memsticks. I do have rest of the memsticks and a cradle.

I thought the WL100 might be compatible with the 2215, I think the WL110 is.

According to my research - and I did a lot of it, the Sony Wifi card would work with PPC ver. 2, not ver. 3. I'm not sure why, but that is all I could find out.

WL100 is said and verified by fellow members that it is able to work with their laptops...

the 110 would not work on a PPC and the 100 would, from what I understand.

For what it's worth, I've got a WL100 that I'd be willing to part with for all of you who missed out on the earlier opportunity :D

Heck... I'd even make you a deal if you bought it and my 128MB SanDisk memory stick together.  (I'm in a similar situation as the original poster)

I've got a WL100 and I use it in my Clie, my laptop and my Dell Axim. I got it to work on both PPC2002 and WM2003. 2003 requires a bit of a hack though...

The WL100 was worth every cent I paid for it.

Melmo, you mean you can use the SONY CF wifi card in your PPC as well? how about vice versa? can we use third party CF WIFI in SONY NX 80?

This is a bit of a worry... 3NX in 18months. My purchase of NX will not have the BB protection and now, I am rather worried about purchasing a NX80.

3 in 18 months!! Is that normal.... ????? Is a T3 better made than NX then?

BMEngineer

T3 may be better than NX in terms of durability...

Hi Melmo,

How did you make wl100 to work on WM2003? I have been searching high and low for an answer. Please help......Thank you.
