Anyone heard the NX80 is being discontinued?

I've been getting the urge to finally upgrade to OS5 despite the logic that I should wait until OS6 is out...but I've been looking around.

I was at Best Buy yesterday and the sales rep told me the NX80 is on clearance...sure enough it had a little 'c' below the price. Interestingly the Palm T3 also had the little 'c'.

So anyone else heard news that it's going?

i still think its too early for that...at least for the NX80's since they came out in,..august was it?

doesn't amtter up here in Canada, where the Nx80's don't exist

I, for one would be dissapointed.

If anything went wrong with my NX80 anytime soon, I'd want replace with another NX80 with my PSP!

A couple of days ago, I received the Mobile Planet catalog and noted that the NX80 (which I just purchased!) was not listed as a current model!

good 'ol SONY ... they discontinue models even before you know what they're all about ... the might bring out something similar like they did with the NX60/70V ...

they were on sale at BB and CC they are all sold out now. Sony wouldnt be in there right mind to do that. the NX series is the most popular Clie for sony, and the most sold in a three month period( from liable source, dont ask where cuase if i post where i would stop recieving those information). Now, Sony will release a new Nx series Clie a low end and high end, like 73/80. bluetooth. the 64mb memory, cause program sizes are getting bigger, OS6, .3 and 1.3mp cameras, Cf slot will still be there cause they still need to make profits on the Wi-Fi cards. The Kodak's OLED screens and surprisingly, my source says that they wont be all that expensive. there will be more updates, when they finish the second prototype with OS6 installed.

There will be NO upgrades, so stop hoping for it. thank you.

those don't sound very exciting... i was hoping for more in the next nx series... oh well, looks like i'll be holding onto my money for a while longer then.

I said back in October you wouldn't see new "Christmas devices" from Sony . . . and you didn't! ;)

It would be a complete shock to see any more new OS5 devices coming out of Sony. All their R&D elves are busy working on OS6. ;) All the "discontinuance sales" are to help Sony's retailers get their inventories purged and ready for the first wave of OS6 devices in a couple of months (maybe)! :)

It seems kind of strange that Sony would let their stock of NXs run out before the new model was ready. I could understand a price drop to clear out inventory, but to not have an NX model available for sale at all could deprive them of sales from people buying in the next few months (unless they think the UX and TJ will be a substitute for those people). Perhaps as loverboydre16 says, the NX was a huge seller for Sony and they ran out faster than they expected. I just hope that doesn't result in them rushing the next Clies out the door with defects like they did last time.

Glad the CF will still be there, means i can still stay with Sony for a while longer:). Cant wait to see the cost.

As I reported in another thread, I just left the Best Buy i my area and there are np NX80s and no UXs either!

Man, there's currently nothing else out that I'd want right now if something happened to my precious!
