At the Mapopolis web site there are free palm OS5 application files to convert memo files to speech. No instructions, other than load the two prc files and the pdb file.

I get a "Fatal Exception" when I tap Read the SpeakMemo program for any memo file it lists.

Anybody have any success with this program on a NX70V?

Remember that the NX sound system is non standard (different from palm's). Maybe that's the problem.

I have a NX70, maybe i'll give it a try.

I asked Mapopolis if their talking navigator worked on the Clie NX70V and they indicated that it did, but the quality was needing further development.

I did get the navigator demo to work and the audio talking directions is just recognizable. I believe that the PSpeak and SpeakMemo components to the Mapopolis navigator are more current than those posted on their Free software.

Hi ronko01,

Can you please post instructions on how to get the PSpeak and SpeakMemo apps to work on a NX? I tried them on a NX80V and I am getting the same FatalException's you described before.

Thanks,
Nascif

Nascif,

I never got PSpeak to work. I was looking for someone who maybe was able to get it to work.

If it is installed and Mapoplois Navigator (with their words file) for OS5 is used, my NX70V somewhat tried to speak directions (hard to understand and phrases are chopped short).
