What are other UX50 owners' opinions on telnet clients? Any that natively support the widescreen without codediver yet? ANSI color? I've seen a couple different apps, but none of them really scream *INSTALL ME NOW*.

Ptelnet is fine and all, but not being able to adjust the screen width and lack of ANSI color is killing me...also, I'd love to have a buffer.

Anything to suggest?

Thanks..

Personally, I use Pocketerm II from http://www.plushworks.com. It has ANSI color support, but it's rather buggy at the moment I'm afraid. However, the developer is working on Pocketerm III which sounds very promising from what I've heard (multiple concurrent sessions, etc).

get TuSSH its an SSH client and now supports ssh2 as well as some other features, native UX-50 Screen/Keyboard support.

its updated all the time as well.

p.s you should NOT be using Telnet for ANYTHING its 100% clear text which includes passwords and usernames.

That's true, but using SSH is not always an option, for example when connecting to MUDs.

I spent a lot of time in routers and other things where telnet is the primary option so I sitll use telnet clients (although I haven't found a clean full-screen one yet). I agree about using SSH when possible but in some cases it either isn't supported or isn't necessary.

So far I've been happy with TuSSH minus one issue where in my ICQ client it doesn't draw the screen properly (I use CenterICQ as a ICQ/Yahoo/MSN/AIM/Etc. client).

I like TuSSH. If I could find a telnet app just like it, or if it would support non-SSH connections, it'd be perfect.

For logging into my own network, I'll use SSH. But I still have a couple BBS haunts I revisit after all these years, and I do like the ability to log into them via the Clie. Ptelnet will let me limp along until I find something better.

Or what the heck, after I take the Bar maybe I'll write something. :)

mocha telnet does support hires, ssh, ssh2 and telnet of course, but is not hires+ only hires. but I like it in a way more then TuSSH (I love the macro function and the extended function keys set)
