Hey fellow Cliesource and NX users, these icons rock! They are the best out there in my eyes. I am a dedicated user of Designsbybert Icons but I saw these on Palm Gear and tried the demo and purchased immediately! For only $5 they are really worth it. After registering I got an email from the developer and he gave me an additional 95 icons. The tech support is great. Also try the Icon Manager, I am thinking about purchasing this as well.
The icons are 16 bit HR with shadows behind them, they are the best so far!
I feel bad because I am a dedicated follower and beta tester for designsbybert but hey these are the best so far, until DBB comes out with better ones!
So give these a try you will love them, they work flawlessly with Agendus, Datebook 5 or whatever one you use. I use them with Agendus 6. Icon Manager is a must when using these.

I'll second that!!! They are awesome. Buy IconManager you'll be happy you did. It's only $5.95 and allows you to make your own HR Icons. Very cool... Are you referring to the HS2 icons as the additional 95 or did you get something else?

wow these are nice. i installed the icon manager and both icon sets - but how do i get to use them with agendus 6? it doesn't happen automatically (obviously) i just found that out... so how do i point agendus to my new icon sets??

You can add it to your existing icon set by selecting all and copy to your icon set. You can also leave it separate and make it the default set using the icon manager.

Do you have to use them with additional 3rd party software?
Or can you use the icons alone without agendus 5, or 6?

I also purchased the m3 icons a month ago. And i purchased the cliesource iconset. I am quite disappointed about cliesource icons that there were only small number of HR icons and the new icons are STILL being developed.
btw I purchased the m3 icons from handango and yes I can d/l the updated version for free.

Yes, all registered will get this update free of charge! And future ones also... Just a way to say thank you for your support! :)
For those who have registered but for some reason cannot download the update, send me a email with your order number. I will send you the file via email.

These icons are really nice. This was one of the first hi-res icon sets I purchased after I got v3bhack to work on my NR70V. I really like the extensive home and food categories.

I just downloaded the newest version from PalmGear. Worked great. He sorts them out a lot better this go-round . . . with labels, a-la-IconsByBert.
NICE JOB! I just wish there was a neat-o school bus icon in the auto section.

:b Sorry for not being too clear... i just created and added an additional icon of the school bus to the preview set as per your request of the icon... All of the icons are in the also found in the final set. Hope you'll find that icon useful.

Sorry to say but for me, the thick outline of M3 icons doesn't do it. Don't get me wrong, all of them are beautifully painted. But with the outline and extreme dropshadow they just won't fit my other icons.
IMHO the best hires icons currently available are those which come with HandyShopper. And those are free. I would love to see some more (especially for shopping purposes) which match those.
Bought some (i think D2 was the collection name) icons a few days ago and was rather disappointed with the quality (no depth). Think it will just take some time till most of the existing icons collections are converted to hi res.
Regarding questions about usage of hires-icons with Clié. Should work in most apps with OS5. With 4.1 it's not that easy. Some apps like handyshopper work with them. Others, like agendus 6, needs the v3b-hack to be installed.

I set alarms in DateBk5 to 'give notice' that the school bus will arrive in 10 minutes. That's the start of 'scramble time' at my house . . . putting on coats, shoes, grabbing lunches, bookbags, etc. It just got a whole lot better looking! ;) The kids know what the tune (Hedwig's Theme from Harry Potter) means now....lol!
Do you do all the work with IconMgr? I notice you include it in your downloads... You're very talented. (My homemade food icons look sick compared to yours . . . only one you haven't made yet that I have & use is a bowl of spaghetti & meatballs!)

Just got these earlier today after seeing this, very nice icon set. I have a question though, theres a few icons I'd love to use for tabs in zlauncher, is there any way to get them into zlauncher?
ClieMarty

skribe:
hmm, might be a bit difficult but should be possible, you would probably need
1) constructor for getting the icons out of the icon file
2) constructor for placing the graphics inside a zlauncher theme
AFAIK the tab icons in zlauncher are part of the main theme. to manipulate or create a theme you need either constructor or the thememaker from festus440
unfortunately you can not access icon files for usage of single icons in zlauncher tabs. whereas you may ask to guys from zztechs to include such a feature in later versions of zlauncher. sound infact quite nice: us any iconfile on your clié to populate tabs and maybe even the gadgetbar

giantrock - How about making a set with no outlines, or a 'toned down' outline?
Your artistic skills are fantastic - your icons are so realistic. Please can you make a set with another 'artistic theme'

Hahaha...*wink* I can imagine the helter skelter... :) "Go! Go! Go!" :D
All icons are all created with the wonderful Icon Manager by Chris Antos, for anyone who is keen to create their own, it's definitely worth its price.
Actually, in the beginning, i was struggling with it but as i did more and look at examples created, i found it pretty easier and started to develop my own style which is now found in M3. :)
[Tip for creating an icon] One method i use.
Step 1. To see the icon that i want to create in shadows; drawing out the object in shadow allows me to tweak the outline shape till i find it's "perfect" then
Step 2. Fill in the rough version of the object, including the colours.
Step 3. Do the details, like softening the edges, drop shadows and last tweaks on colour.
This is faster then drawing pixel by pixel of the object. Hope that helps! If anyone wants to create their own icon, i will probably create a mini how-to and post it when it is ready!
BTW, i guess, my version of bowl of spaghetti & meatballs! wasn't that clear ;) If you look at the food icons, the 2nd icon was my representation of spaghetti & meatballs.. guess back to the drawing board... hahaha :)

Introducing M3 : HD Definitive Iconset Light v1.0 (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=453F0646-CBEC-4608-836AB6E12952C254&prodID=48536), a "slim" verison of the Orginal M3 : HD Definitive Iconset (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=29267220030213225353&prodID=47307)
Gone are the outlines and heavy drop shadow, what's left is another trendy look for you to use on your Agendus, DateBK5 or HandyShopper.
How does it look? See the difference in the special preview set where Light stands together with The Original set. Try it on for "size", it may just fit to your taste.
If not, you still have The Original M3 Iconset... Whichever your choice, both iconset will blow you away with its quality!

I'm having serious problems with these icons. They seem to show up fine in the Freeware icon manager included in the package. However, when I copy them to the default icon collection, it causes DateBk5 to crash. Opening them in DBIcon+ also causes a "corrupt record" error. Both of these problems causes a soft reset.
I like the icons, and would love to buy them -- but if the preview version doesn't work, I don't see how I could put the money up for the "real" version.
Any help? I'm running it on an NX70V, with DateBk5.

Currently DBIcon+ doesn't work with these high res icons, which explains your reset. To use the icons, pls use Icon Manager, i have included Chris's Freeware version, to view and manage the icons. Recommend that you get Icon Manager if you want to try your hands on creating. :)
Do go thru my readme on how to go about using and creating your own custom set since DateBk5 has that 255 limit... Also, make sure that you are having the latest version of DateBk5, preferably p8, which is available publicly at CESD's website. Hope that helps!

anothe great icon set. I like these "lite" icons better however there are a few where the heavy outlining really adds to the noticability of an icon without distracting from the meaning (like the powerpoint presentation icon). BTW, I just noticed the groundhog day icon. Thanks!!

I'm having serious problems with these icons. I uninstalled DBicon+ and on icon manager i made a Datebk5 copy with new icons, deleted the old one. When i try to use them in Datebk5 i see them, but they're all distorted. Weird.

Just wanted to do a shout out at how great these icons are. I too like the lite version better and purchased these.
My only disappointment is when using them with Agendus and their hi-res fonts, the microscopic icon looks terrible in hi-res compared with normal res. Clicking on the detail to view it at it's correct size makes it look perfect. Is there any way in IconManager to correct this smaller icon view?
Also, I've created a couple of more icons in the same manner as this set for the ones I was missing, like a shopping cart, etc. What I really need is a better sunshine icon and a better airplane icon. I think the ones that are included just don't compare with the other icons in the set.

If you have a hi-res screen, using Agendus and want a "mini" facelift... check out my latest freeware release.
Basically, it's a replacement of the icons within Agendus. Take a look at the image below...
http://www.palmgear.com/screenshots/49339.gif
The icons in Agendus have all a unique ID, by using Icon Manager to set the ID accordingly, one can easily change the icons to suit one's needs.
I did just that using some of my M3 icons. :)
Try it! It's just a small set and it's free! You can find it here (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?prodID=49339)

Please understand that these icons may not work once Agendus upgrade its version, i.e. if the programmer chooses to change the ID. But it'll do for now...:D

You can grab it here with Light Preview (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?prodID=48536) or here just the icons itself (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?prodID=49339)
Thanks for all who have supported!

Great. Thanks.
By the way: you mentioned that M3 (Light also?) was expanded. I have the light version. How do one get the update if there is one?

It's very simple actually... If you bought from PalmGear, click on MyPalmGear, link is just below the home on the left. Once there you can review your download and download all the software previously bought. The file is updated, so you'll be getting the latest. Updates are free!

You can get it here (http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-PaloAlto/7022/v3bhack.html)
For more information on this hack, there are several threads in ClieSource, here is one of them (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6881&perpage=15&highlight=v3bhack&pagenumber=2)
Once you've installed the hack, welcome to the beautiful world of High Density Icons! :D

It looks like PalmGear hasn't refreshed it's download for registered users. I tried downloading the 1.6.5 version, but it's exactly the same as my 1.6 version. I was really looking forward to the alarm clock and some other system icon id numbers. Guess I'll just have to wait for them to get their act together.
Thanks for the great effort though. This is definitely something Iambic should have done ages ago. It makes such a difference.

It's not PalmGear, sorry if I wasn't clear... I only updated the preview set, not the final set, there will be an update for that later, the free icons are in the preview set! :b

I might have missing something, but their are two icons that haven't been updaded in Agendus (in the pull down menus):
1. Schedule Meeting, Annual Event, Weekly Meeting, Meeting
2. To Do, Schedule To Do
Are you still looking for id's for those or those just impossible to replace? Or did I miss something? Thanks.

somebody help! I've created a new icon set for DateBk 5 using the M3 icons & icon manager. There are only 255 icons in the set, I have v3b-Hack installed and enabled but when I try to use them in DateBk 5 they look all horrible and distorted. In IconMangaer they look wonderful! What am I doing wrong?

Arrrghhh...!!! I just spent like 2 hours importing an sorting the M3 icons into my icon set, but when I go to use them in Agendus they don't show up unless I turn off the hires option... What good is that? I know i've seen something about this, but I'm too spent to look. Help please. Thank You!
Almost forgot. I'm running an NR70V if that makes a difference. I'm running the v3bhack as well.

are you using icon manager?

yup... v1.4 registered
ziehensack9
06-03-2003, 02:12 AM
ok, I'm also using these icons on an NR70v but wih DateBk5 not Agendus.
In Icon Manager I've got the icons set to "high" and "16 Bit" on the 2 pull down menus at the top of the screen. With each icon there is then a samall orange x at the top right. If all the icons in your set then you know its set right - something like that anyway.
I've also installed the latest version of DateBK 5 though which I believe doesn't even require the hack anymore. Not quite sure how it is with Agendus.
rquinlan19
06-03-2003, 02:18 AM
i made that change to no avail... also the icons won't display under the "today" view either. hires or no hires
ziehensack9
06-03-2003, 02:38 AM
hhmm, does Agendus have a limit to the amount of icons it can handle? With DateBK5 there can only be 255 icons in the set!
rquinlan19
06-03-2003, 02:41 AM
i don't think so... i have ~1400, but i can see them all. i can see the icon enough to select it, but it just doesn't show up in certian views and at all unless I disable the hires function in the prefs of agendus
ziehensack9
06-03-2003, 02:46 AM
does it have something to do with ID numbers then? I seem to remember reading something about ID numbers in relation to Agendus
rquinlan19
06-03-2003, 02:49 AM
ya know i'm wondering that too. i've had some goofy things happen with some of the built in icons. i re-id'd all the icons so that they didnt conflict with the default, but i wonder if it won't disply the icon unless it's within a certian range.
rquinlan19
06-03-2003, 02:53 AM
strike 2... i changed the id on one of the new icons to one that i know works and it behaved the same way.
ziehensack9
06-03-2003, 03:00 AM
sorry I haven't been too much help so far but I don't really have any experience with Agendus, maybe you could give DateBK5 a try - at least the icons will work then! But I'll have another think though, maybe I'll remember something else!
Are you using the latest version of Agendus? Could be that that doesn't support these icons yet.

YellowRose, you're a genius! I just tried it out on my present version of DateBK5 (5.0c,pG) and although I got a warning sign that DateBK5 only accepts 255 icons I went ahead this time anway and now have 3 pages! No crashes yet so hopefully it'll stay that way!
btw, rquinlan19 have you tried just picking icons from the set with the AG tag? Don't know whether it helps but it might be worth a try!

06-03-2003, 03:32 PM
I'm not sure I follow what you mean? Is there a set # of icons that AG looks for?
ziehensack9
06-03-2003, 03:41 PM
When I installed the icon set onto the Clie I had 3 different sets:
M3 150503 Light
M3-HD Definitive Lite
M3-HD Definitive Lite AG
Not quite sure what the difference is myself except for the quantity of icons & new requests but maybe the set with the AG tag are specifically for use with Agendus?

ahhh i know what you mean now. yeah i have the full M3 set and i'm using icons from the one flagged AG

Hello,
I have purchased the M3 Light, and have a simple question when used with DateBK (I have preview G).
I have small icons ticked, but when using the M3 icons in weekly view or monthly view, the usual large icons show up, rather than the shrunken versions.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

new icons are coool! A suggestion giantrock, how about a badminton icon or 2?
A little off topic now I know but can someone please help - why is it that when I now hotsync I get a second set of DateBK5 icons appearing on my Clie that are read only? What could be the cause? It's driving me crazy!!!

The new Agendus 6.1 doesn't completely support M3's Agendus icon replacements. I guess they changed the ID tags.
After getting used to M3's icons for edit/view and all the good stuff, iambic's new icons pale in comparison. I would love to have these back. Please let's research some ID tags!

The reason I thought that this may be unique to M3 is that the supplied "Icons-Clie Source Demo" work fine. Both sets strike me as being colour sets (or at least grayscale; I have an SJ20). I was really enquiring if anyone with more experience with M3 than I may have stumbled across the same behavour.
If the "Clie Source" icon set is different in coding than the M3 set then I would agree the source of the discrepency would point to DateBk5
Cheers.

Someone earlier bemoaned the microscopic effect on icons, when using Agendus' hi-res option. FWIW, I'm using the latest Fonts4NX release (on a TG50). I chose Handera 18 as my font, and deselected hi-res in Agendus. The fonts are resultingly small enough (yet still easily readable) for me to see alot per screenful, while the M3 icons appear in all their little glory. Best of all worlds!
Bonus: By keeping hires "off" with the new Agendus Palm Pro, I can do most editing in place, thus precluding the old screen-switch maneuvers.
FYI: in addition to email, there are new views, including a fantastic ToDo "tree view", which groups ToDos by category. Excellent addition which, combined with M3 icons, cemented my decision to rip LifeBalance from my device.

Agree! M3 icons are the top of the heap! ;) My active database does contain a mixture of others also, but I'd say 80% are the M3s.
I've got emails out to support about this but thought I'd check out if anyone else has (had) this issue.
I purchased the M3 Definite Light iconset this morning only to find when I'd made the purchase that the Handango download link just provided me with the Preview set of icons!!! Couldn't believe it. :(
I assume this is a problem with the Handango site. Hopefully it'll be resolved soon and I'll get a URL where I can download the full set that I've bought!!
Anyone else experienced this?
Thanks
Paul
