Geez, is that enough alphbet soup for everyone. Anyway, if there are any Mac users running 10.2 or greater and have/get an NZ, there is a new beta from Missing Sync (3.0.5) that will work. Just FYI.:D

quick question:

will the nz90 be able to sync with the addressbook and ical via bluetooth like the tungsten?

i am very interested in possibly buying the nz90, but want to know to what extent I can expect bluetooth functionality in mac os x.

also, has anyone had any problems with loading clie software onto the unit using missing sync and just a mac (not using a windows machine at all for the initial loading of apps)?

thanx

I have a mac osx with the missing sync. It worked well with the nx, but the nz, the computer isn't recognizing the clie at all. I/m bummed. i couldn't find a missing sync upgrade 3.0.5. I see only 3.0.4. HELP

3.05 beta worked fine for me on my TiBook 867. It also adds support for iPhoto 2.

It works, it works, it works. My mac (ibook) osx.2 syncs with the new, the new nz. It won't hot sync by pushing the hot sync button on the cradle, but if you select the hot sync directly from the launcher on the clie, it works. I feel good.

While I've gotten my NZ90 to connect in a basic way with the beta download, I can't seem to get the Memory Stick to be recogonized?

I'm not able to move music files or receive pictures taken on my Clie and move them to iPhoto.

Also, while I seem to be able to reach my Linksys wireless LAN, it won't download any web pages, just access the Linksys menu at 192.168.1.1?

Any help would be appreciated on these three issues!

Well in answer to one of my own questions above...

I was able to overcome getting my Clie to reach the Internet, WOOPIE!

Now I'm trying to figure out how to Sync it with my Powerbook through my network?

Of course I still need help in getting my Memory Stick recognized by my Mac and in moving music to my Clie and photo's taken on my NZ90 back to my Powerbook?

So if anyone can help with these issues, THANKS in advance!!!

I ran into the same situation with iPhoto and iTunes, and the MS. Looks like it's time to check w/Mark Space.

Well Phil, I resolved another issue to a degree!

If you want to move music to your Clie, instead of trying to identify the files in the HotSync Manager under "Install Handheld Files", simply drag the MP3 files you want on your NZ90 to the file area of the dialog box of "Install Handheld Files" and choose where you want to install them (Memory Stick...).

The files will show up and be playable in the Audio Player! You can drag most any files you wish there, but if the installer doesn't see a program to run that file on, it might not install it and give you an error message. I'm having trouble with copying PDF's and DOC's which PicselViewer should be able to read?

It would still be a good idea to contact Mark/Space for timelines on upgrades though!

I still haven't been able to Sync my NZ90 using my WiFi though, still hammering that one out. All the setting seem correct as mentioned on these boards, but still only Web access, no Sync with my Powerbook.

I am working through the same issues. Thanks for the info. Are any of you able to use Bluetooth with OS X? I can get the NZ90 and mac to see each other but no go on anything else.

Thanks

I can sync via Bluetooth with my iBook using iSync. Works pretty good, but I did have a few issues. I definitely needed the Missing Sync beta to get me going. Start w/ that.

I'm using OS 10.2.4 and got all the sync to work with my NZ90 no problem - but only after downloading the missing sync 3.0.5 beta.

However, i can's seem to get the CLIE Memo (captured ink memos) to sync and be able to look at them with on the Mac. I am assuming that this should work with the notes program that comes with the 4.0 Desktop.

Anyone know anything about this?

Hey JohnJ80,

Is your iTunes recoginizing the memory stick with the new OS update? Also have you tried to Sync using WiFi to your Mac with success?

Thanks

P.S. Just loved your tag ("...Windows 98 or better so I bought a Mac"). Spot on!

I don't have a memory stick yet. so i haven't tried talking to the memory stick yet - that is this weekend's project.

When I get this all working, then I am pretty interested in getting the WIFI card and or the bluetoosh dongle to try syncing that way.

I'm thinking that the WiFi card could be really cool - especially with OSX servers. OS X servers allow ftp access so with an ftp client for the clie, I should be able to move files back and forth from our servers. that would be really cool!

I got the memory stick but i can't seem to get it to mount the way that missing sync says to do so.

I run MS Import, it says it connects but there is nothing on the desktop ('Computer' in OSX) and then the NZ90 appears to be locked up - the disconnect button (or any button) is non functional. I have to reset to get it back to normal.

anyone else have any luck mounting the memory stick?

Sorry to hear of your lack of success...

Glad to hear I'm not the only one...

Actually, that is exactly what happens to me as well so I suspect it hasn't been properly implemented as yet by Mark/Space.

FYI, They just released a Beta 3 version tonight. They actually also released a Beta 2 as I had downloaded it and found that it was defective (wouldn't complete the install process and removed my USB connectivity option in the HotSync Manager). Fortunately, just after I had tried and failed a second time with the B2 version, I surfed on over to their website looking for some answers... Low & behold, there was the B3 version waiting for me.

Timing is everything in life (-:

I haven't found any noticable changes in the B3 version over the B1 version though. Perhaps you may? I'm also still unable to get my Powerbook to Sync using WiFi. Sure wish I could figure out where the snag is?

Thanks for keeping the information flowing on this topic!

Same thing here. Installed b3 and still can't get the memory stick to mount but osx now tells me i have inserted a disk it can't read. So I got that going for me. I'm sure they'll get it fixed pretty quick. I have a Dell desktop I use for now to access the MS. Seems to sync fine however.

I'm going to give this a try.

What I did see in another thread was that apparently you can get all the data on and off with a memory stick usb reader. That sets me up for all sorts of other questions.

I'm new to the clie world. Is this a case where this isn't a problem with the prior units but that the NZ90 isn't truly supported in Missing Sync yet?

I mean, can you mount the memory stick with the earlier clie units?

Yes, you could and it worked great. Missing Sync is working on a fix for it as we speak.

Yes, you can mount a Memory Stick with earlier units, and interface the Clie with iTunes and iPhoto-- works like a charm. It's just that the NZ90 is new, and Sony often changes a few things with each new unit, requiring driver updates.

Indeed Sony does change lots of things with each succesive model.

Unfortunately I gave my PC card Memory Stick Reader to my mom when I gave her my Sony Digicam and Photo printer. I don't want to go buy yet another card reader, I want my MissingSync to do it all as described when purchased! Paitence is an often "required" virtue...

On a side note, I purchased an IR portable keyboard from MicroInnovations at CUSA and quickly found again that the drivers necessary to use it were unavailable on the NV90. I spoke to one of their tech. support people and he stated that it's a problem with Sony and even their most current online driver will lock up the new Clie (so back it went to CUSA) and they had no idea of when it would be available.

The upside is that they are soon to release a seires of Bluetooth accessories (like mice & keyboards) so hopefully an even better solution will become available to NV owners.

Still no success (yet again) in syncing through my WiFi connection... HELP!

I just exchanged emails with the folks at Mark/Space and they're hoping for a fully functional version of MissingSync for the NZ90 in a week or less.

I was able to mount the memory stick using a memory stick usb reader. then you can find the pictures in JPEG format in a folder on the card - no problem.

will be great when markspace does the update to make this work from the cradle.

I went out and bought one of those multicard readers (mem stick, smart media, etc..) and having a problem. I have a lot of pics I shot with my camera and they all look fine when viewed in the nz90 from the stick. But when i copy this data via the new mem stick reader, many of these images show as corrupt with garbage in the files. I'm thinking it might just be my mem stick and it needs formatting but all the data looks fine on the Clie. Very odd.

I got the memory stick reader. I was able to move photos into iphoto (read it automatically). On the card are a whole bunch of folders so i think you can move the photos and mp3's back and forth with drag and drop no problem.

So, until they come out with the MS Import that works from missing sync, this is the way to go. As a practical matter, its probably a good idea to have a MS USB reader anyhow. I bought the Lexan one from Comp USA for $17 today.
