Great minds, Ark. I was thinking of starting this same thread. BTW, its' cool to see everybody jump up and down with joy at getting their new baby.
As for me, I've tossed out quite a few posts about my NZ hunt.
**Couldn't hang with the idea of waiting on the B/M's and paying full price for it when they did get it. 799, tax (55 bucks approx), plus extended warranty somewhere would put me over 900 easy.
**Checked online. Did a bunch of research on the different sites, and settled for TechonWeb.Com (http://www.techonweb.com). They had the best reviews on pricegrabber.com and reseller.com combined with the price.
Price was great (696.80) and overnight shipping got me out the door for $728.80 total). Thank God it's coming FedEx - my UPS driver hates me. Their total price I'm spending with them is gonna put me well under the above prices from somewhere like Sony or Amazon.com even with their mail in rebate. I can get an extra battery and the extended warranty at CompUSA when my unit arrives using the loot I'll save.
When I called them to check on the delivery date, I told them that alot of us on here, when we called them, got conflicting dates on when they would actually have it in house. The rep I spoke to put me on hold and got the purchasing manager. He informed me that they will have them in and ship out on the 17th. Any rep that gives out a different date is looking at the wrong inventory files. So - I left my order with them. I couldn't justify paying the extra money elsewhere just to get it a few days early.
***I did ask them (cuz the curiosity was killing me)how they could run them so cheap and what was the catch. No overhead. Apparently they're a huge company (they are getting in 900 of them) and count on making their money on volume.
So - I'll have mine on Tuesday. :D

I received my NZ today from sonystyle.com. Its the normal posted price of 799.
Its great. Not too thick for me. Not too Heavy.

It is thick.. but it feels better in your hand... doesn't seem like it's goin to break like the NX. I always felt like the NX was goin to break in half.
I didn't want to get it online. I wanted circuit city because they have 3 year protection plan. first year is by sony next is by CC. came out to $921. It is worth it for me to pay the extra since i'm goin to use it a lot. I don't want to worry bout breakin it and losing so much money so insurance was the best way to go .

I thought the same way about the insurance. My reconciliation on that one was going the CompUSA route with their extended warranty plan. I've read in alot of threads here that they'll let you purchase it on units they don't sell to you, and backed that up in person when I walked into their store.
Gotta have the insurance, and I still will come out spending the same. I don't mind paying the extra money, but if I can get a bit more bang for the buck, waiting the weekend won't kill me.
I've survived this long ;)

You guys are so strong! I did the CC route w/the 2 yr. ins. I did the $912 route. However, I do like the idea of walking in for repairs and with CC I have multiple choices in this area. CUSA is about 90 min. away and can be flaky about their warranty. So far CC is fairly reliable.
All I can say, so far, is you are going to be so happy when you get yours.

Like hell I'm strong! LOL.
If I had my way I'd have that puppy in my hands tonight. But, they're just not gonna ship til Monday. No amount of my begging, crying, whining and rolling around hysterically on the floor is going to change that ;)
So....I wait.
and wait and wait. Damnit. everyone is having fun but me and littlesix. Well at least we will be coming out with an nz and 150. Enough to get a battery, ex war, and case form ripoffs.

I got mine this morning from Sony Style for the regular $799.00 plus tax and shipping. I like using SS because I have never had a problem returning units, nor have I ever had defects from them direct. I love this NZ! It's totally not too thick or bulky and it does feel better in my hands compared to the NX. Feels more solid. So far I am extremely happy and satisfied.
Does anyone know if I can still buy an extended warranty from either BB, CC or Comp USA? I think I read somewhere I could.
I dont know if I can, but would love to to protect myself from dropping it or anything else happening to it.
Thanks.

Did you really try all that?? :D :D :D :D
Yeah I'm getting mine for 719 shipped. 699 Originally. Plus the main location is in nyc so if I have a problem I can just take it there when I go home.
Littlesix. I have found 3 cases from ripoffs that seem relaly good for the nz90. Do u know if they are going to make a specific one or should I just go w/ one of the 3?

Darn i guess Ed had it wrong in his review. I wish it had vibrate. I thought that was a cool feature.
Btw, my friend has the Tungston. Is the clie faster in changing menus than that unit? I use a pocketpc b4 this, and his menu changing was quicker than my pocketpc. As in changing from phonebook to calender, etc

Yes, the NX/NZ is generally faster than the Tungsten, but it's not that noticeable under general use.

Went to SonyStyle NYC last night
I saw it, held it, played with it
Good Points
!. It after all is not that big!
2. Camera very very nice!
3. Well Made, feels lighter than it's weight
Not So Good Points
1. Plastic Bezel around screen wider than NX, makes screen look smaller (Optical Illusion)
2. Stupid little cheap door over the Sync connector on back is simply cheap and an annoyance to get out of the way when docking (Looks like it might be removeable though)
IMHO, give me full CF support, and I would buy it.

I live in the UK.
And have ordered it from Sony Style and should be dispatched on the 28th. In my experience sony style usualy stick to there dates. But over here it costs £599. More than I thought it would be ...

Ark - I haven't heard from him, so I'm going to have to say go with one of the three. BTW - which three are you considering?
I'll post as soon as I get an answer from him. I can't believe that Ripoff's would rush an NZ case to production, so my gut is telling me that he's going to come back with a 'no' answer.
actually another would work too. They are:
http://www.ripoffs.com/datasheets/co83/co83.html
http://www.ripoffs.com/co61new.htm
http://www.ripoffs.com/datasheets/co53/co53.html
http://www.ripoffs.com/datasheets/co29/co29.html
They all seem to have enough room that I could keep the wlan card in at all times and maybe just some ms's floating around. Although I like the way the case for the nx was made bc you can listen to mp3 while in the case. Maybe I should get the cheapest of these for now in anticipation of a case for the nz.

Ark - you know I'm a big Ripoff fan, but I wonder if any of them will work at all.
Reason I say that is because of the width of the NZ on the camera hump is considerably wider than the body.
Maybe one of the current owners (while you and I wait for next week to HURRY UP AND FREAKIN' GET HERE ALREADY - whoops, um sorry. that slipped....) can do those measurements for us???
oneeyesquare

The thickness of the camera section is 1.25". It's a little over 5.5" long. A tinch over 3' where the stylus is wide. The lower section thickness is a tad over 7/8". The camera "hump" is about 1.5" from the top of the PDA to the bottom of the "swoop" for the synch port.
if thats the case I think the ripoffs case will work if u get one that is a little bigger. That way it can compensate for the hump.

I've been reading the posts, waiting patiently (not!) for my local CUSA to get the nz. But last night was the last straw-I actually had a dream that I got one!! So sad...........

thats all? I dreamt I went down but got lsot on my way to the store. :)
By they way, is the case made out of plastic? The camera part looks so much like a toy in the shots I see. (The silver looks like plastic)

I went to CompUSA today to take a look at the NZ unit.
As we already know, it is larger than the NX,but doesn't look so "ugly"(as some people here have classified it) in person. I expected a huge increase in weight, but it felt rather light in my hand. The COMPUSA people didnt hook it up. There was no battery and the thing wouldn't turn on. So I can't compare screen and functionality. If the unit cost the same or even 50 dollars more than the NX, I would have purchased one, but I didn't see enough to push me to get rid of my NX and go with the NZ. I've made up my mind to go for the IQue by magellan once it comes out.
no the casing is metal but the cradle is plastic
Speaking of the cradle, can you actually play the still images on the TV while the NZ is in its place and is not connected to the PC?

Yes, thank goodness, since my PC and TVs are no where near each other! All you need to do is carry the NZ and its cradle to your TV and plug in the supplied AV cable connectors to your TV.

Thanks for the info. I had been trying to ask NZ owners about it. :D
