Hi there!
I have a problem: I want to burn all my Clie-Videos to a nice Video-DVD. I use MovieFactory2 to author the MPEGs. But it will need MPEG, AVI or something similar. MPEG4-MQV-Format ist not supported (no matter how I rename it).
Any suggestions? Are there freeware converters MPEG4->MPEG2??
TIA

You can change the extension .mqv in .mov... and use QuickTime V 6.0

And now please an answer from somebody who puts his brain to work before typing...
Dear Mr. fredest: Quicktime is NO DVD-AUTHORING program. Quicktime 6, AFAIK, can not save to MPEG2.
So what are you talking about???!!!!

Problem is, he's right: Use QT6, and export to AVI/MiniDVD MJPEG and then burn this file using your favourite tool. There's (sadly) no way to frameserve QT files into other programs

I see! I think the problem is, I need the full-version of QT, not just the free viewer version!
Ok, I'll try that...
BTW, I found out about a software called "MPEG4-Maker". Looks interesting.

Download mov2avi, its a command line program that will convert mov files into straight out avi files.
I'm sorry I can't give you the link, I didn't save it, but I found this after messing on google for about 15 min. With the prog name it should be exponentially easier.
The prog itself is only 80k (you don't really need a GUI ) and is moderately fast. Even better, its free. It also recognizes the MQV files, so you don't have to worry about renaming them.
Hope this helps :).

You can download this freeware program that captures your desktop and record it at raw format and use a video editing program to encode it to what you want :)
one of the nicest programs ive used is a program called Camtasia
it also records audio too !

I have used mov2avi and it has worked just fine for me also. I also downloaded a windows interface for it, but like anterh said, you really do not need to. I think this will help you solve your problem.

May be don't support MPEG4 encoding...
I think the only way for now is register the QT 6 and use the export function...
Works for me...

An old thread, since deleted, led me to http://www.eo-video.com/
- it works great - see for yourself http://www.anastomosis.net/ClinicalImages/duo%20adenoma_b.mpg
the problem is i'm thinking of burning the mqv or mpeg-4 file into CD. But till now i fail to detect any encoder.

None of those programs mentioned above could read MPEG4, no matter if i rename it to mov or leave the mqv suffix.
This is really frustrating. Sony delivering a mpeg4-camera and no conversion tools with it -- duh! Nearly as frustrating as delivering a CF-Port without proper drivers... DUH-again.

Am I the only one curious as to why you would want to put your CLIE videos on a DVD. That quality is no where near good enough for a DVD, plus a DVD holds over 4 gigabytes of information and I find it hard to believe you have that much in movies. Why not just make a VCD instead? It will still play in your home video player and cds are alot cheaper than dvds. Just my two cents.

Whatever. Different disc-medium, same problem. MPEG1/2 is needed for VCD/SVCD.
Quality might be crap, but PAL doesn't require too high a resolution. And DVDs are cheap (for their storage qty).
BTW with +R/+RW you don't need to finalize the medium and can add data later on. One DVD, manymany short-sequences. I kinda like the idea.

You can use Quicktime 6 PRO or TMPGenc with QT6 and QTread.vfp installed

Try to use: TMPGEnc with QT plugin. You only need to install QT 6.0 freeware. Looking software at www.vcdhelp.com. There, you can find more information about convertion.
TMPGEnc convert to DVD, only 30 day of try. But, it is allow to convert to VCD for indefinite time.
Donīt expect to obtain great videos. The resolution of MQV is small. if you decide to increase size you loss quality.

You can use TMPGenc with QT6 and QTread.vfp for that... you can correct the noise and the gama too but the resolution is really crappy... the PAL has 576 lines resolution instead the 480 lines on NTSC. PAL requieres a higher resolution, I recomend use NTSC for this (on NTSC the color is a real problem but is not important on this case)
Use QuickTime for see the movie WMP is a piece of crap...
