hello, hope everyone had a merry christmas!!  :)

so, has anyone made this switch?? I know it's still a little early in the game since the T608 was only released at the beginning of the week, but if someone out there has experience with these phones / services, any comparisons would be appreciated. I've read a lot of good things about sprints data network speed and such, does it really enhance the wireless experience through the clie over GPRS???

I recently signed up w/t-mobile and my 14-day trial period will end this coming sunday. if sprint / t608 is significantly better, I'd consider switching. thanx in advance if anyone has any info or opinions!!

the only real threads so far, since this phone is so new, i've seen on sprint fan sites.

bear in mind that sprint vision is more expensive than tmobile gprs. but sprint vision is typically faster.

i would first ask, which provides better voice quality in your area?

also, don't forget that after this, it may be awhile before the next? sprint bluetooth phone, so you'd better like it if you get it....

thanx for the reply.. yeah, I've been reading those other boards pretty closely, thought I'd get a more unbiased opinion here though since this board isn't necessarily affiliated with a single carrier... thought that vision came free with some of the higher plans (or 15 bux on the lower ones), noone's really talked about having to activate the "data-card" plans with the T608 from what I've read so far. I'm most interested in the "perceived" speed difference. the thread I referred to mentioned latency, I know that is present with gprs as well, just wondering if the overall perceived speed is significantly noticable. (I don't have latency numbers for gprs to compare to the poster's vision number)

voice is good at home and most other places, but the bummer is that it sux at work. there are a couple of sprint users in the office, and they don't seem to have as many problems grabbing a signal. one other thing is I waited for this whole number portability thing and was able to keep my number when I came over to tmobile. with only one day left in my evaluation though, I don't know if it will be enough time for sprint to have that same number ported over in a day, we'll see tomorrow morning!!

It actually doesn't look ugly at all, maybe a little too "cute". Like a Barbie phone or something.

$199 but there is debate whether a rebate for it exists or not... seems to be no.

yup, that's the only one they're going to release. also, even the T608 is a limited run. there's supposed to be 10,000 units out there and that's it.

Just returned mine to Sprint today. Played with it for a few days. Poor screen resolution on smaller screen, SMS disabled, can't confirm the rebate and Sprint may discontinue unlimited vision (not a huge issue connecting with the Clie just another -). Playing with the T616 through cingular and loving it. Picked up a TecnoBlu headset today to check it all out. Can't wait to find a BT memory stick.

that's too bad, that thing had so much potential. well in the spur of the moment, I picked up the last treo 600 they had at any of the sprint stores around me. really neat device, the integration is excellent (snapper fetches and such), but it really lets you appreciate how much nicer the apps look on the clie's (I have a ux50).

guess I'll toy around with the treo for a while and see if I like it... the thing is, the sprint data network simply smokes any of the gsm's I've tried (had both cingular and briefly tmobile) and is unlimited on the treo. reception is also way better for the phone part than I had w/the T610 fom tmobile. really liked that phone too, but could get practically NO signal at work, and the data speed is sorry compared to vision... I was really hoping the T608 could give me the best of both worlds, but this treo thing looks pretty neat so far...
