ok... I am trying to get both of these device to use palm desktop for sycronization.... the treo is using the handspring USB drivers... and the clie.. I am assuming is using a different driver set.. so thier shouldnt be any problems there.
I created 2 user accounts - Treo & clie for obvious name sake.

both are plugged into USB ports on the back of the pc.

The nx70v I am able to hot sync.... the Treo... keeps trying to install handspring USB drivers... it finally does from finding them locally on the harddrive... still will not hot sync.

If I reboot and depending on which device is plugged in... it will hotsync. sorta... its still flaky.

SO how can I get both of devices to behave.. I dont want to sit there and have to reboot.. or swap wires in the back.

Thanks in advance.

I got 4 USB ports in my computer, I tried installing the palm software into 2 seperate folders for each - treo and sony, I set the hot syncs to only launch with which ever palm desktop I start up... and still... cant these two to behave and work.

But if i'm not mistaken both have syncing programs that are always running . . . . unless you select them not to turn on with the comp . . . .
And for the palm software, both palm and sony have different versions of palm desktop so their compatibility might not be there . . . . yet they still store .dll files and drivers in the same windows directory and cannot be changed to another directory (unless you know some way to alter the palm desktop to search elsewhere for it's system files)

Trash the Treo. It's ugly anyway.

Do you have both copies of palm desktop installed? If not try installing the one for handspring in addition to the sony one and see if the works (make sure to install to different directories). If that doesn't work, try syncronizing one with a different program such as outlook and let the other one sync with pd. Good Luck

I also have the same problem, I gave my brother my SJ33 for christmas knowing that I was getting an NX80. Now he can't hotsync because I installed all the newer palm desktop stuff. So I've resorted to just downloading, installing, and beaming him the programs he wants.

I tried that as well, :( I even tried using Act 6.0 with act for palm software... nothin works past this problem.

Have you installed the palm desktop update for syncing multiple pdas? If not, here it is: ftp://ftp.ita.sel.sony.com/ccpg/clie/PDT401-PATCH.EXE

Thanks.. for some reason every time I tried installing the same file it would say I need to install the palm desktop 4.* first or something like that... I was puzzled because I DID have the palm desktop installed... my computer is on crack sometimes.

thanks for the file..its installed.

Whilst the Treo may be ugly, its doing someting the NX70V cant do and that is being a mobile phone.

Something i doubt the NX70V will ever do.... :(
