Drawing on pics

I have an SL10, and I put some pics on it.
When I wanna paint on them, it says it can't draw on this kind of picture, only on 16 shades of grey.

Is there any way to make the pics 16 shades of grey???

I would use photo editing software on my PC to change the picture then reload it onto my Clie.

Couldn't you use CLIE Paint?
