View Full Version : DocsToGo - Where to put the files....
I need your help with respect to where to put the Documents-To-Go files.
Here are my problems. If I put everything but Documents (docstogo) in internal memory's launcher directory, parts of the application such as smartchart cannot be found by sheets to go. In addition the native Excel translator cannot be found by docstogo.
Moving everything but Documents to AliasExt permits the files cited above to be found, but after a hotsync the files in AliasExt are left in the handheld RAM!
What am I missing here as I'm sure someone has this working properly?

leave files to handheld memory not internal memory or memory stick work better this way

But I don't want all of that junk sucking up RAM!

i'm sorry, can you clarify this? what's the difference between handheld memory and internal memory? because if he's referring to native files, i don't believe you can store native files on any memory of the PDA whether it be ram or rom or whatever

Handheld memory is RAM that every Palm had from day one. Internal memory is the UX's NAND flash memory which is like a self contained memory stick.
What I want to know is how to shift part or all of Documents To Go out of RAM, thus saving RAM storage space for something else. Documented above are issues with using two different internal memory locations for part or all of the Documents To Go application files.
Note I'm not referencing document files themselfs (e.g. word to go, sheets to go, etc).
Help!

I have found that by moving my doctogo and sheetogo to either internal or external memory, things get kinda slow. It works well, but just slower than in ram.

I agree that is a great thread. It is how I learned about the AliasExt trick in the first place.
My problem is that after a hotsync Documents To Go files stored in AliasExt are left in RAM. Basically it appears that the UX is copying the files into RAM for hotsync and forgetting to delete them. Am I the only person with the problem?
