Hi everybody! I am new here, seeing as I am getting my first PDA for Christmas. I am getting a NX70V and I already have a 256mb Compact Flash card, so I want to use that as my primary memory.

I am planning on buying the smallest memory stick possible because I am short on cash. Will this in any way effect me? Do I have to store some apps on memory stick, or can I just use the CF card all the time?

As you will get NX70 (no bulid-in CF driver), better to get at least 16MB for backup purpose. Because when you hard-resetted CLIE, CF will be no longer function, you need to use MS to restore installed programs and drivers to enable CF again.

For normal usage, if programs can run from MS, it can also run from CF. And many programs support multi-VFS (multi-card), that means you have no problem on reading data on CF.

but you won't have ms import via cf, so you probably need an external card reader. other than that, yes, most things run okay off the cf.

Thanks for the help. This forum truly is great! I was just worried about audio/video storage and things like that mainly, so it sounds like I should be good to go.

If you get DataImport (must be used w/ Sony CF driver), then you can use CLIE as card reader.

Oh really? So as long as I use DataImport, I don't have to buy a card reader that will read both MS and CF?

Umm... is DataImport the same as DataImport 6 from SpaldingSoftware? Because if it is, I think I will opt for the card reader lol

This is what I found for DataImport... http://www.spaldingsoftware.com/di/dataimpt.htm
It is $235!!

DataImport I mean is bulid-in program in NX73/80 (which replace original MSImport w/ CF support).

Since I am getting a NX70, do I have to download DataImport? Is DataImport favorable over MSImport?

If you can find Sony CF driver, you should also find DataImport. DataImport is new version of MSImport.

basically what he is saying is that you have to locate a copy version which has been removed from a nx73/80. this software is not actually sold separately. and if you can locate a 'hacked' copy of the driver, same story.................

Does anybody know a link where I can find DataImport? I have the Sony CF Driver now, along with every other driver/hack needed to use the CF, but I am still waiting to get my MS:(

Wow, I have DataImport on my Clie. Can't remember how it got there but oh well. BTW, I got my Clie to recognize the CF card and was able to move files to it, but still is not to functional without my Memory Stick.
