Hi all,
My NX70 is having a strange problem. When I went to use it last night, it wouldn't come on thought light cam on. The I reset it and is went though the normal reset cycle until it got to the date and time system page. Then a litttle blue box comes up with the word "HOLD" and then the screen goes totaly blank. The "ON" light stays on. I've recharged it and keep trying to reset with no luck.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Scott,
Take a look at the Hold button on the left side of your Clie, below the jog dial and back button. Slide it down to turn off the Hold function and you should be able use your Clie again.
Happy Holidays!

Check out your manual to learn all about the hold button. It can be quite useful. For instance if you're just listening to music or video recording (and you've the clie in the right position), then you can flip on the hold switch, which does not turn off the palm, just the screen. This will of course save some battery....

Hey, it is not April, the first? Right?
LOL
I have run afoul of this on my MD player, had bumped the hold button on the remote (I didn't even notice the remote had a hold switch). I really thought I'd poked it for about an hour before realising my mistake :)

we've all had our share of not reading the manual incidents (me more than others) but i bet he now found an excellent use for the hold button, i like how i can put the hold button on and my friend stephen will think its broken no matter how many times i show him the hold button..............it just doesn't click..............i think hes getting a little quicker to figure it out (hes also the smartest kid in his class so i dont think its an inteligence thing) i love my hold button

Thanks Don, that was the problem!
Must have switched that button by accident. Thank you so much, you're a genius!
Thought my unit had gone totally south. I have had it just a little over a year and like it better now than I did when I first got it. Like having a mini laptop! It even locks up like a Windows box (mainly using the voice recorder) once in a while.
What is the "HOLD" feature used for?
-Scott
The main use is to stop it turning on accidentally. I also use mine to stop things bumping the LCD from interrupting music etc when I put in in my pocket in tablet mode.
The main clue it's switched to hold is that the power LED will flash when you try and turn it on.

it is also for Mp3 playback when your clie is in tablet mode so you can save some precious battery life.
Oh? Does it turn the screen off or something? Surely the one or two minutes before it does it itself isn't that bad? Or does it turn the screen off when it's closed but powered on?

well if you're playing mp3s it wopn't turn offit requires the hold button but ifits in a basic application it will turn gthe screen off and just be on..........

Has anyone ever had their CLIE reset (erased) even with the hold button on? cuz that happened to me yesterday, I checked it, and the SOB had erased all my info. I synced it back to normal later though.
Also the battery power was at half. So I have no idea what the heck happened, but as I said, it WAS set to hold.

yeah i actually carry my charger with me everywhere. even at school. i'm in comp science and i plug it into the outlets besides the iMacs...lol
btw...death to iMacs...unless your using it for design purposes.
but serioulsy, iMacs are killing PC's lately! :S

lol, spam tastes good!
and as for battery consumption, if PDA-Addons Australia gets their friggin act together and my order gets sent to me i will have one of those battery extenders (only cost me $20AU, and thats new). Then at the expense of extreme weight gain i will have battery power wherever. What a happy ending for the horror story.

thats very true, heck, i remember when i had a PowerBook 165c, back then colour screen laptops were near-impossible to find. They were innovators, but i really wouldnt buy any of their products now, you pay for design over functionality. why would i pay exorbiant amounts for a cool-looking but no-expansion-capable iMac when for half the price i can build myself a PC with much better performance, and with simple upgrades will keep me happy for at least 3 years.
even their iPod is grossly overpriced, a Creative Nomad Zen is far better value. But my NX70V plays MP3s just fine :p

d00d! the nomad! omg....i should have you shot....err virtualy..>_<;
http://consoledatabase.retrofaction.com/consoleinfo/seganomad/
you HAVE to know about the nomad..it was sick back then...
and yeah, gamegear was amazing....i would not stop playing that...if they only continued with that they coudl have made quite the landslide of $$$....but for some stupid reason then backed out and didn do anything...now they only make sports games...dreamcast was like the final desperation move to get back into the console race....failed miserably....jus bad timing and the console itself...

How could you not know the Sega Nomad? I remember when I was playing GameGear in the night and I would wake up with a headache and the back of my eyes hurting because the screen was so bright.
