I am upgrading from a visor deluxe(palm OS3.1) to an sj30. My question is this:

When I first hotsync the sj30 it restores from backup (from my visor). Doing this I end up with DateBook+ and others on my clie. My understanding is that this is a visor only software. It seems to work on the clie. Has anyone ran into problems using it on the clie?

One more question: What is the easiest way to get my address book entries from my visor to my wife's SJ20?

Any help with either of these would be appreciated.

chuck.

not very familiar with visor device, but can't you just like beam all the contacts to the clie?

Just don't try looking up the about screen in the Datebook+ App when it's on the Clie. I tried that on my old N760C, and it would crash requiring a soft reset. Other than that little snag, it works just fine.

I am with Buckethead on this one. I went from a Visor to my SJ30 and the easiest thing I found to do was to beam what I wanted to keep. I didn't allow my SJ30 to restore from the Visor's back up files on my computer. Inside of both the address book and the note pad there is a way to beam an entire category, in this case "all". Any other programs that I wanted to beam I just used "beambox" to get onto the Clie.

I did a bunch of fiddling when I updated from a Visor to the SJ30 then ended up beaming a bunch of stuff -would have been easier to do just that in the first place. I bought Datebk5 so I would have the datebk+ functions. and more:)

Don't know why you have to install the Clie version, but after that, just copied in the hotsync backup file and presto. Well, almost everything backed up - nothing in the address book, but beaming categories made this fairly fast. Also had to beam half of my games. But doing this was definitely faster than beaming everyyythiiiing. That would have taken hours&nbsp;vs 1/2 hour.</SPAN>

Thanks guys.

I have to admit that after I got messing around with it a little I figured out that it would let you beam a whole category at once.

As for the Datebk+ question it sounds like it is better to just beam anything over - to avoid any conflicts. So that is probably what I will do.
