Has anyone had any luck getting a drug-rep to pay for Epocrates Pro?

Hi,
Glaxo paid for our entire division at our large Midwestern tertiary care center. They gave all the MD's a certificate they could use for a free year. Not that many people use PDA's for reference at the Staff MD level here so they weren't out all that much money. It took a bit to get the NP(me) one. But once they were asked it was no problem. The pro version doesn't have too much extra other than than the herbal meds. The calculator that comes with it is available for free. And it won't run easily off an expansion card. I also don't like the idea that it connects to their web server whenever I hot-synch since it takes a little more time. I wouldn't have bought it myself. Brian

I used the qID program alot when it was free. Is it still anygood?

I use qID fairly regularly and remain pleased with it. It's good for quick answers for which antibiotic(s) to use. It hasn't really changed much now compared to when it was free. The other program I use periodically is the "Tables" section. This too used to be free, helpful for ACLS protocols, pharmacological tables, etc. But no, I haven't had luck having a pharmaceutical company sponsor it. Not many seem to know about it yet.

I like the epocrates program better now with the combined QID and Epocrates since QID is now automatically updated. However, the medical calculator is still deficient in a pregnancy calculator - hey, I'm an ob/gyn so I NEED that calculator - I use a different program for this.
