There's not much reward for crossing the 'pads' so I never bothered. The secret to crossing is less covering EVERY switch than,I believe, to step on a pad and if something happens, good, go to next where something happens.

But as with the double-locked door in House of Tricks (patience?), it jus' ain' worth the effort!

Okay, been playing this for a week or two now and am very impressed so far. Unfortunately I seem to have managed to get myself stuck in the Frozen Catacombs. This is the area just beyond the stairs where you enter, step on a pressure plate in the floor in the middle of a clearing where at each direction there are doors. Stepping on the plate closes the door you entered through and opens the other three, loosing fiends and liches. Defeated them all, pulled the lever, found the hidden switch, and got the key. Now how the heck do I reopen the door I came through? Neither the pressure plate nor the lever do anything -- they appear to have been a once-time use thing. The hint on the hints page off Redshift's main page that seems to refer to this area tells me to remove everything from the pressure plate and take the "long way around", avoiding stepping on the plate. Problem with that is there isn't anything on the pressure plate to remove.

So now I'm locked in there.

Sylon was quicker than lightning to reply my e-mail...

So have fun:

How to find the key for Tower Level 3:
This is a quest award for the Dwarven Hammer quest.

Can someone PLEASE tell me how to trade the hammer for the key?

Very frustrated

Yo, Mindfield --

This has been covered before but I forgive you for not reading all billion posts.. though search might've found it.

The center pad is what closes the door behind you. Flip the lever then try to get out.

Actually, Search ended up just showing me which thread contained the keywords I was after -- which was a bit pointless since I sort of knew that part already. :-)

Anyway, I ended up just teleporting out and reopening the door from the other side. Unfortunately I'm sort of at a loss as to where to go next. There are two doors I still can't open (my only keys are the Cellar key, Bartender Key and Purple Dragon key). I'm still trying to connect the two catacombs, but obviously haven't made it yet. I haven't gotten to any of the "House of..." puzzles yet, either. I'm just wandering about right now looking for anything I've missed, polishing off what few straggling creatures remain (just killed the swamp dragon and got the first of Mersant's books) but I can't find any major places I haven't been yet.

At the top of the screen is a SEARCH THIS THREAD option. Use that if you already know which thread you need to ask in.

House of... puzzles come AFTER you get all the books from the dragons.

As to where to go.. there's still a teleporter you need to step into: Most likely, the (blue one, I think) that takes you to a room with a Lich. Before you leave this room, Look Around! You'll find a key you need. Grab the key then run back around and return to the catacombs (you'll understand once yer there).

My basic suggestion for completing Fire/Ice is to go as far as you can in one and, while standing in front of the last door you can't open, TELEPORT back to grendelmoore then go to the other empire. Go as far as you can (which usually means acquiring a key to the OTHER place), stop at the last door and TELEPORT (Go Back) again. This works quite well right to the end.

Hi,

I think that I've become obsessed with this game. The puzzles are great, but some prove too difficult for my feeble mind. This site (this thread in particular) has been invaluable for my having gotten as far as I have.

Anyway, I am stuck (I think). I have searched this thread as best I could, but cannot find an answer. I am in World 3. I have defeated the Mucous Dragon, and I have explored the frozen and fire empires and catacombs. The only doors that I cannot open are 1) one of the doors in the "Choose one, forget the other" gift area, and the purple door that gives me access to the dragon lair.

I've been to the hyperflame site with the maps, so I know where the purple key is. I just can't figure out how to get to it! Can someone please, Please, PLEASE help me out? The future of Grendelmoore depends on it! :)

Thank you!

You know, it's amazing how things work out. 10 minutes after I posted the previous question, I was digging around in the catacombs, and thought "I don't remember where this teleporter takes me." So I took it, and where did I end up? Right at the answer!

Now on my way to woop (sp?) up on some dragons. :)

As for the Choose One... the idea is, once you've chosen, the other door Will Not Open.

However, if you come back after the dungeon has respawned, you can get the key again and open previously locked doors.

I've found the Dragon's lair, but damned if I can hit a one of 'em. I found an ancient dragon blade, but it doesn't do much good against them. I also found the Redshift key, but have yet to find what it opens. I even tried to get back to the area where there are two halls with cascading holes on either side (one moving forward to permit entry, one moving the other way for the exit) that leads to the room with all the holes in it that move around, in the center of which is a crystal ball that I believe restores mana -- except now there are permanent holes in the two halls that I don't recall being there before and I can't figure out how to close again in order to pass, so I can't check beyond to see if there's something I missed. :-P

Which Dragon swords do you have? No swords are found in the empires.

The hole(s) are closed via switches in the "checkerboard" area.. not sure how those got closed again on you. Velllly intelesting...

Fire sword: talk to gramma. Ancient blade: trade it away.

Redshift key: find a locked door. Check towns.

As one of many beta testers I have a head start on most of the public and have completed about 70% of the game. If you have any problems with quests or questions about the game, post them here and I (and maybe some of the other players) will be glad to help.
i am in desperate need of help to find the 4th statue in the maze of lost souls. i have been everywhere and done everything else and am just lost in anderville. i have usead the guide notes on another web site but am still unabl;e to work it out please help!

Bubby, you have to go through the maze of souls to the end, which leads to a stairwell to HELL. That's where you'll find the Possessor.

Damn! I forgot about that sword swap quest. Guess I ought to check those more often. :-) Now I'm in Sohl's castle trying my hand at the Game of Patience... two keyholes, no keys. :-P

gyffes
09-24-2004, 09:56 AM
*grin* You get a key by going through one door at the entrance and the other by choosing the other door... then return to the two keyholes.

The keys ektually ain' that hard to find.

Mindfield
09-24-2004, 05:43 PM
Yeah, found those. Opening that one door with the 6 buttons was a pain in the arse. 4 switches is easy, simple process of elimination, 16 possible combinations. 6 switches is a thumb-cramping 64. I actually lucked out and got it in about 10 by starting backwards (all switches on).

Much as I love this game, I do have a bit of a gripe with games that try and artificially lenghten play time through tediously long trial and error puzzles.

Halfway through Sohl's castle now. Two spheres in place, haven't got stuck yet. (The second one I went through with all the battles was cruel. Depleted most of my mana potions and all of my healing and cure paralysis potions)

Mindfield
09-25-2004, 07:51 PM
Okay. I take it back. I'm stuck now. I can't find the blasted key to the sphere in the Home of Tricks.

First, "Turn on three and the fourth will be happy" -- sure. Fine. I can turn the three walls of force on which, I presume, allows me to walk through the fourth, but once the three are on I can't get to the fourth.

Second, the detours. "Walls One and Three," "Walls Two and Four" -- or whatever. Exactly what are these supposed to mean? They seem to be associated with these odd black walls, and from the "Move away to get away" puzzle I know that these may be movable, but I dunno what to do with these.

Third, the five pressure plates and associated teleporters. What's up with those? I figured out the three pulleys in the room just before that one -- they each open one of the three walls that allow you to continue beyond this room in question, but these plates and teleporters seem to be a red herring. The teleporters all teleport to the same place -- right before the pressure plates -- and the plates themselves don't really do anything either. Is there a puzzle to this? I know the key is in this area but I can't work it out. There are a few unexplored areas, one of which is right beside this room (a small three-square-long gray area that I'm sure must open up at some point).

gyffes
09-27-2004, 10:14 AM
Forcefields: you have to come at them from the rear. Leave them all on and try another route.

Detours: The meaning will be clear in time -- affect what you can and move on.

Multi-plates/'porters: Ignore them if you can get around them.

Mindfield
09-27-2004, 10:26 PM
Forcefields: I've figured that much out, and even where I'd be coming at them thanks to one of those interactive maps, but they're behind one of those...

Detours: ...and so since I can't figure out the deal with these, I can't get behind the forcefields. It seems to be a bit of a catch-22. I'd affect what I can, but the problem is that I'm pretty sure I've flicked every lever, pulled every chain, pressed every secret button, and banged my head against every wall, just on the off chance a blood sacrifice might have helped. Obviously I've missed something, but by process of elimination none of the levers/chains/secret buttons/pressure plates/teleporters affect any part of the map that I have yet to explore, and the aforementioned interactive map, while cool and a help catching one small secret button I missed that only resulted in some nasty mages and a measly $150, haven't done much to reveal any buttons I haven't already found within the areas I'm able to explore.

And it's probably something embarassingly obvious, too.

gyffes
09-28-2004, 09:23 AM
This is the worst of the houses, so don' feel too bad. And I love that people work so hard to get into that room for $150. *snicker*

First, you're focusing on stuff that comes LATER, that you can't possible affect 'til you do something else. So, I ask you again:

Have you entered the corridor with the two floorplates, one of which closes the wall behind you? Have you got the door in that corridor open so you could pull the chain within?

You MUST get in here before you can go anywhere else.

Mindfield

Of course, upon entering his lair I'm promptly incinerated... gonna have to work on that...

On to the expansion...

I'm stuck at this places for so long that i'm almost ready to quit playing the game.
I realize that desactivating one force field in Drangon Lair, for instance, activates other in Ancient Dragon Lair. I've tried every possible combination I could remember, but still stuck. Can anybody help, pls.

a) Turn them all back ON (click the in/out buttons so they are all PINK)

b) Click ONE button (press it IN)

c) Run to the nearest forcefield -- is the field CLOSEST to you turned off? Excellent. Snuggle up to the remaining (further-in) forcefield and have a look around.

There are 2 forcefields closing off the lairs -- ONE of the buttons in one lair turns off ONE forcefield in the lair you're in. FIND THAT BUTTON. THEN go on to point c) in my previous message.

Trust me. I've completed this section manymany times.

TX, Ted. As usual, you see things that are so obvious that other cant see. Can you imagine how many times i've been there? Ans i was so obvious. After killing all the dragons came back to Mersant and realize it was the end of expansion pack. Right?

To rc1313:
1 - When you choose teleporte, at the top of the options, do you have a "go back" option? If you do, use it to return to where you were.
2 - If not, you can go back to Decranrtes and, there, use the teleport to return to Grendelmore and reenter Shol's Cave and, from there, Home of Tricks. Hope it helps, thats all i can remember

Okay, I'm a bit stuck in the expansion pack now. A few places, actually.

1) The tower. "Seven blue: On. Seven gray: On. One yellow: Disappear." Okay. I get it. Turn seven blue(?) somethings on and seven gray somethings off and the forcefield to the second level disappears. Seven whats? I've been throughout the main floor and the basement. I've yet to find any coloured anythings to toggle.

2) The maze. Where's the third part of the map? I've found the one in the Dark Forest and the one in the Black Forest.

3) Where's the Behemoth Queen or whatever it is? I've been all over the high forest, into the cave where the treasure map is found, the hole where the Behemoth Quiver is, and the Black Forest where the second part of the maze map is. I think I've also pretty well covered the black forest, since I've been to the maze and to the alternate dimension, through to the teleporter there that takes you to the heaven/hell dungeon.

Mindfield, I don't wanna be too specific about the Gray/Golden puzzle 'cause Sylon was very pleased with it... rather than ON OFF, think... open/closed.

The Behemoth KING is found on level 3 of the tower, so 'til you solve levels 1 and 2, no worries. But save those arrows!

The map: You need to PURCHASE a section -- have you done this? If not, come back and I'll give 'nother hint.

Purchase? That's a new one on me. The Unnamed or the guy that buys from him, perhaps?

I'll take another run round the castle. I'm now thinking the gates on either side of the castle at the top of the stairs or something. I have plenty of arrows. I've been running round the expansion long enough that they've respawned twice, so I've got 3 quivers to empty into him when I find him. :-)

Do so. Check EVERY DOOR.

Mindfield
10-07-2004, 11:18 AM
Ah, okay. I checked it over, and I've already found part 1 in the Black Forest and part 2 for $10k in Ruined Decrantes. So I'm still after the third part...

Meanwhile, back to the tower...

gyffes
10-07-2004, 11:22 AM
3rd part... umm.. hmmm.. it MIGHT be in the tower itself...

dang, this is where my play-style works against me: I just rampage through, grabbin' stuff and movin' on. I initially found the dark book, the Guest book, all the map pieces AND The Staff _before_ meeting ANY of the people who give those quests out, so I usually have no CLUE where I got something.

Remember this, too: Sylon, when designing the Expansion Pack, for some reason believed people would explore the High Forest BEFORE venturing into the Dead Forest.

I know I went Dead first, and I believe many many others did, as well.

Let this be a warning for all you designing your own maps: we're not likely to go where you think/hope/expect unless you make it impossible for us to do otherwise (which'll only make cranky those who like to go where they will...).

Hi everyone,
just snagged Legacy and the Official Expansion Pack for a song thanks to the ClickGamer.com sale (unfortunately the sale only ran yesterday and the prices are back to normal today... If I had known that I would have splurged and bought the Revenge and Legend Expansion packs too! :( ) yesterday and have been pretty much unable to put it down! (I have to admit that I bought my PDA just to play this game! :D ).
I've found the cross for the priest guy, and have also killed all the spiders in the dungeon for the barkeep... now I have to find a gem and give some guy a nugget of gold... where the heck do I go next!? Do I just keep walking around until I find these things, or have I missed a major clue somewhere?
Man, I can just tell this game is going to take over my life! :p

PS: Just out of interest, what is the longest anyone has been playing this game (months? years?!)

Jaycad -- STOP RIGHT NOW and put a screen protector on your PDA.. I'm serious, I've worn through 2 Legacy-ing since December (when the game was released).[I]

As to what to do next: Time to explore the forests. There are two exits from town: the one you came in and another. Go back to where you entered town and explore EVERY INCH of the forest there. Good luck.

10-12-2004, 04:28 PM
Thanks gyffes... I HAVE been trying to find some screen protectors for it but the Clie Website doesn't actually sell them and the only dealer they list in Australia doesn't answer my e-mails... I'll have to keep looking. I can imagine that with all that tapping the screen is going to get mega scratched!
I've actually found the gold nugget and given it to the weirdo, but can't find Ashela's gem... I'll keep looking in the forest... I'm assuming it's in a cave or something.
I also loaded Elvira, King's Quest and Morah, as well as the Official Expansion. I've tried Morah so far but ran out of the dungeon with my tail between my legs when I got to the room with the four doors. I've got to get more gold and buy loads of mana and heal potions before I venture back there!

thanks terpkristin... I checked it out and it did sort a few things for me. I managed to find some screen protectors and have already ordered them... now just to sit tight until they arrive
Okay, I'm doing well in Morah (I've put off finding Ashela's gem as I simply cannot figure out where it is. I found the nugged in the mine in the forest and have combed the forests but can't find anywhere else to look for Ashela's gem for that rude guy... any more hints? ) because so far I've got to the room with all the coloured switches on the floor and have figured out how to get across them without becoming barbequed, AND I've got one of the locks (the left one) opened, AND I've managed to break into each of the four external 'vaults', but cannot get any further. I can't unlock the second lock (the one on the right) because I don't have a key, and the lever doesn't do anything... and the only place I haven't been is up one more level because it says it is blocked by a wall of force... {sigh} this game is going to be the death of me. :p

I'm slowly working my way through the past posts and my eyes are all bleary too!
I've finally found the lizards' nest and am going after the gem that greedy guy wants. I'm also keeping a look out for violet flowers (!?) along the way to give to the hermit guy. I'm assuming they're in the same map.
I just wondered: does the fact that my Clie PEG-TJ25/G doesn't have sound (apart from a buzzer) mean that I will miss out on clues to puzzles and such? I have noticed that the only way I can tell that I am being attacked from the side or back is when one of my characters suddenly flashes red

gyffes
10-13-2004, 01:07 PM
Jay -- to find the gem... (now that you are in the lizard's cave) go where you might not want to go. And I don' use sound (though my NX80 has it) and it's caused me no problems.

rc1313 -- (bear with me, I'm going to be vague then descriptive) that door in the middle, in the entrance hall, will open when you manage to get into the little area behind the door that won't open no how no way past the area where stepping on a floor plate closes the wall behind you.

SO. Go to your LEFT at the main entrance -- wander to the area where there are 2 plates in the floor of the hallway and you see a message telling you to find the way out before you go in -- done this? Cool. Now, you MUST get the door inside open. To do this, well.. that's the hardest part of this level. Put stones on plates in the OUTER hall and the inner door should open. Flip the switch, get back out and you'll find the door to the Key to your death is open.

Then, it's easy peezy.

Well, sorta.

Items with special attributes actually display them. Items that are "junk" just say AC:0 even though it may say that it is a magic amulet for example.

Is there any use for the AC:0 items? Or is it best just to sell them. i got quite a few AC:0 items rings necklaces and some items characters started with.

Also while I post is there any point in saving the items you start with? When in the shops the selling price is 0 on all of them.

I think giving myself 4megs of free RAM solved the problem. prior to having 4megs free, i did not have the landscape option, couldn't run off memory stick, and it kept crashing! All is well now!!

This sound like a good idea. My T E has an SD card slot. I have a SanDisk 256MB card and a 1GB PQI card. The PQI performs alot better in benchmark comparisons than the other. Is there any performance issues running off of the card or will it run just as good as from RAM?

Is there any use for the AC:0 items? Or is it best just to sell them. i got quite a few AC:0 items rings necklaces and some items characters started with.

Also while I post is there any point in saving the items you start with? When in the shops the selling price is 0 on all of them.

There may be some "senimental value" to holding the items you start with. But since you can't sell them, they just take up space, I drop them in front of an armor shop.

I run Legacy off the card quite often....the only thing I'm not positive on what it effects is if it backs up the Save Files on Hot Sync. Right now, Legacy is on my main memory but I've had no drawbacks running it off the card...the system loads it all to the RAM "temporarily" and it all seems ok.

What do you mean loads it to RAM temporarily? I only have 10MB of free space on my palm so I figured it might be a good idea to move it so when I'm playing there is more space in RAM when more stuff is added to the palm.

Should I move other things to the card too?

Is there any significance to the number of days of time that has passed in the game? I know at certain times you can't enter shops but is there anything else to it?

Other than the AC:0 items you start with do the other AC:0 items have any use. i picked up 2 amulets AC:0 and there are no other abilities listed when I click on them in inventory.

Oh one other question... I have Father Hranemus' key still. I think i finished everything. In quests all 5 have green check marks. Is there a need to keep this key, did i miss something else that can be opened with it?

as far as I can figure out (and if memory serves me right from reading ALL the previous posts) the only reason for keeping the key is if you want to keep going back into the cellar and whacking those (by now easy) baddies. If you're not going to bother doing that again then just dump the key.

rc1313 -- (bear with me, I'm going to be vague then descriptive) that door in the middle, in the entrance hall, will open when you manage to get into the little area behind the door that won't open no how no way past the area where stepping on a floor plate closes the wall behind you.

O.k... I have flipped the switch. the door shut behind me. i teleported out and went to the eyeball door at the front entrance. It is still shut. Is this where the Key to your death is?

Ok, going to answer lots of things....
As far as playing the game from the card (and other apps). Personally I use ZLauncher and it's got a great system with files you've moved to the card. It temporarily loads them to the RAM so that the files are "near at hand" for while you're playing, then when you exit the game, it moves everything back to the card. It just helps things run smoother to have it on-board. I don't know how other launchers handle apps on the cards, though. Some apps don't work when run from the card, though the games I have on my card seem to be fine.

Passage of time in the game:
Every 24 hours of game time, the "wells" and mana spheres reset, so you can go to them and use them once every 24 game hours. Every 7 game days, non-boss enemies re-spawn and items reappear. This can be useful in some cases, to get you more of the "rare" items, though certain items don't reappear. If you clean out a store of some of their items (such as potions and such), you'll find that after a few days of game time their stocks re-supply.

I have it too. i just realized you could move apps like this. I'm working on moving some infrequently used apps instead of Legacy so it doesn't have to copy back everytime I go to play.

This is totally cool. I was beginning to wonder about the monsters and items and such. I'm gonna love that respawning stuff :) I assume you mean the items that were in barrels etc respawn too?

Woohoo! I finally got through the first level (I guess...) and N'Gora is dead. I've made it to the second world but, rereading some of the older posts, I realised that I should have finished Morah and King's Aide before tackling the second world... so, back to Decrantes for me! I still have no clue about how to get that damn door open though... any hints anyone? I unlocked the keyhole on the left, but don't have another key for the one on the right, and the lever doesn't appear to do anything... PLEASE!? Augh...

If you are refering to the one I think your refering to with the pillar in the middle and a corpse on one of the walls, you need to hit it with your weapon 1st and then open it will the lever.

Sorry, just to clarify: the place I am stuck is in Morah, in the room with all the coloured plates on the floor. I managed to get past the plates by figuring out the path, and then managed to unclock the 1st (left) lock by dealing with the pressure panel on the right, but then when I got to the pressure panel on the right it says I can't unlock it, and I don't seem to have a key for it anyway... Or do I need to do the same thing to the pressure panel on the left as i did to the one on the right... Hmm... I'll give that a go, but I'm pretty sure I already tried that...

*********nope... didn't work. I tried 'dealing' with the pressure switches (don't want to give that bit away, but I know what I'm doing is right), but I basically don't have a second key to open the second lock... and the lever beside the door (between the two locks) doesn't do anything. STUMPED! :(

For this part of Morah, go back through the dungeon and look for more bad guys. They will be there and you should find the key.

As for what to do with it...well, if you figured out the left you should be able to figure out the right ;)

Good luck!

Jaycad: Next stop, King's Aide! Enjoy. Remember, if you have problems with KA, there's a King's Aide-specific forum; we'll be there helping, too, but it keeps the forums manageable.

RC -- You didn't have to teleport out: There's a hidden switch to open a wall to let you out. It is possible that in bypassing this method of exit, you failed to find /activate the next item you needed to to open the Key door. Go Back, young man, and be not overhasty!

Woohoo! I figured it out last night - just flicked the switch a few times and then was walking back through the dungeon when the Guard Master turned up and I dealt with him and got his key... I guess he only turns up once one of the locks has been unlocked!
I've since removed Morah from my PDA and have reinstalled, as someone suggested in one of the previous messages, and have since completed it twice to get my levels up! Woohoo! On to Kings Aide now!

Yup I figured it out too. I had no idea that more monsters would appear after you explored everywhere :). I'm level 6 and tackling kings aid.

Ok I got a ton (well maybe not that many but a lot) of AC:0 (and they don't appear to have any special extras) items besides the ones the charaters started with. If they have no effect by wearing them I'll sell them. I was holding on to them because I didn't see any posts saying whether they had any effect.

Help me please! I have completed all of the frozen and fire empire maps as well as their respective catacombs. I found two of the three dragon keys and used them to open two of the doors in the fire catacombs. However, I cannot find the purple dragon key to open the last door!
I have compared my maps with the online maps and I have explored everywhere on them except for a secret entrance that supposedly is in the wall of the southwest corner room in the 25 room area of the frozen empire. The online map shows a secret entrance there, but when I go there it only has one of those round grey faces at that space and I cannot get through the wall there to get the purple key. Any ideas??

Did you find where is that @#%# tiny little key for that green door behind the holes on the tower level 2 ??? I'm stuck for a whole week in front of that door
and have been walking all around and around ...
I could use some help on that one !!!

Thanx,

Arimi

I'd really like to know what keys I'm supposed to have at this point. I think I've been everywhere on Tower level one and the basement, all over town and the forests and dungeons. There is one green door that is unopened and I don't have it's key. The door is on the other side of the 'hole' puzzle (btw, the switch for that puzzle is a brick in the wall, it closes the last hole in front of the warlock. I killed him using a combination of paralysis and then arrows. Get past the first two holes and turn left. there is a safe spot. paralize the warlock and on the left wall is the switch. kill him and then carefully time your way down the corridor.)
At the end of the puzzle is a locked green door. I can't get through it. I have these keys: Father Hranemus', Bartender's,green small, and Tower.
Which one am I missing, where do I find it?
Thanks for any help.
Yes, I have finished all quests. I gave the hammer to the guy. I am stilll sitting at this door (after taking turns wandering around wondering what I've not seen.)

Jonke -- This is veeerrryy easy puzzle. Because it was so easy, the creator decided to make it harder by placing the hint for this room further away -- the hint actually adjoining the puzzleroom is for.. the NEXT room.

SO.. go back the way you came, a bit, and look around.

re: N'Gora's lever puzzle -- read the hints at Hyperflame (for the link, check www.redshift.hu)

Amiri: There are several places you might have to check for that key:
1) Did you explore the area beyond the multi-teleporters? Did you explore it COMPLETELY -- so that you found a key?

2) Did you complete the task set you by the dwarf in the city?

3) Did you enter the area revealed by placing items on ALL the pads in the central area of tower level 2?

And, for the record, don't tell us the color of the door you're in front of; once it's open, we can't tell the color so it's as useless to us in helping you as saying, "I'm trapped near this thing at that place by the guy."

First, newman, this comment should be in the LEGEND forum. As for your problem, this is a well-known glitch. For a small percentage of us (myself included), the only solution is to go find and kill all 40 ghost priests.

The problems with that solution are twofold: 1) It can be damned hard to find that last priest and; 2) we miss out the EXP gift for submitting all 3 books!

But it's a bug that doesn't appear in the code and only affects a few of us. And it doesn' stop gameplay.

a) Read the sign nearby (something "makes me happy...")

b) apply some critical thinking: happy = "up"

c) examine the area OPPOSITE each lever

d) there are only 4 levers. If all else fails, try all possible combinations. If this problem stumps you, you're gonna struggle MIGHTILY later on...

Whenever you find a door in one empire that won't open and you are SURE you've examined EVERYTHING, it is time to look to the other empire for the 'key'.

If you cannot get past the line of holes in the Fire Empire, this means you did not fully explore the "checkerboard" area to the south (?) of the line of holes. Somewhere in there is a switch that'll close the hole that is not part of the 'cycle' and thus you'll be able to progress further.

Lily, slow down, babe.

The room with the holes has been addressed MANY times, but since it's hard to wade through a billion responses, I'll help you:

Kill all from a distance (fireball, arrows, etc). Now navigate the room by timing the movement of the holes. Open the doors you can -- don't worry about the blue door, it can't be opened from this side. When you've done all you can, go back to frozen and keep going.

Truly, this, along with the house of unholy paitience (and one other ending room who's name I forgot) was the most annoying aspect of the game. They actually DESIGNED it to force people to spend endless hours doing nothing but walking around in empty dungeons clicking and checking everything over and over and over again.

Are the sequels like this too? If so, I'm checking out now.

The card game was pretty good though. So much so that my son and I made up some real versions of these and played it against each other.

Y'can't get 'nother mage early. I wish one could 'cause I get mighty sick of Julius' mug after all this time, butcha can't.

For the record, I favor a 1 - 2 of Battlemage and Knight with a 3 - 4 of mage & cleric -- the cleric uses Bow only and is basically a medic w/long range attack (when we're in hand to hand, he'll still bow but also uses any fireblast scrolls we have on hand). It'd be awesome to have a 3rd magic user early, as the economics of arrows -- esp. early on when every gold counts -- makes bowing as a main attack difficult to maintain.

As to spending your money: Mana potions, as many as you can carry. Then, carefully buy spellbooks (not every spell available is necessary). Once potions are taken care of, I start stockpiling SPARKS and CURSE scrolls for the knight to use from afar (he's terribly inefficient as a spellcaster, but I hate the hassle of switching bow-sword and then trying to remember to re-arm his shield...). Only when I really have a lot of cash to I bother buying magic/special armor.. and even then, only if it ups either INTEL or END.

Check out the tactics thread I started at PDArcade.

Hey, SciFiMan: The sequals require less of this, esp Revenge. Legend has a bit of the "check every inch" aspect, but lacks the running back and forth. The official Legacy Expansion Pack retains a bit of the running back and forth but lacks as much of the "check every inch" bit. Basically, they heard the cry for easier/less involved puzzles. Check out REVENGE.

To gyffes, first, thank you for your help, I am now in the second stage (somewhere in the "giant cave"), I understood that I could only have my second mage at this stage, so now I have 1 Knight and 1 Battle-Mage at the frond and two mages at the back, the two mages both have sp over 200 now, and everyone is at level 7, now I have few more questions:

How long is this game, I am just playing the normal 1.05.1 with no expansion. What is the usual level at the final?

I still felt a bit hard while in battle, I put both mages on bow, and both frontmans with sword, and they are all use the best I could buy (I actually got the best in the shops with load/save skill). Is there anything I should change? becuase I need to go back to town 1 or 2 times to finish one quest, I will try your way (1 Knight, 1 Battel-Mage 1 cleric and 1 Mage) when I restart the game and could you explain the different between them two.

Also if I install the expansion, could I carry on with my old characters? I am so confused with all differents patchs. "Revenge"? "The Legend"? Have you tried them yet, any good?? and what's your suggestion to play first?

Finally, its character again: Do you change your old character when you arrive in a new stage? Coz all the character I hired in the first stage are UGLY!! I hired a few in the second stage just to see their status, and I realized that their numbers are quite average. What is your view?

I thank you very much for your attention and wish you a happy new year!

Yo, Angel.. to address your questions:

coin: in the tower -- look in all corners of all rooms.

Why do I keep a cleric when most others choose multiple mages? For the same reason I do not pick up new characters as the game progresses: anyone you get later will have lower stats than those you start the game with. Also, I really like the power of a high-level cleric's MASS HEAL and HOUR OF THE GODS and he does pretty good damage with the best bow I can give him.

As far as returning to town 1 or 2 times -- no worries. I flee back to town CONSTANTLY. I hit the magic shop nearly every other day until my characters are over level 10... I want to be carrying so many mana potions I don't have to return to town again for quite some time, later on.

The expansions are great and no trouble to install or use. As for recommended order, I suggest:

* Legacy, main game (through to killing N'Gora)
* King's Aide (for levels 5-9)
* Legacy (Beraquel) until your party is level 12/14 then
* Legend (for awhile).

From here, I go back and forth between Legend and the Beraquel tasks. I usually hit Legend at about level 11 but that makes for quite a difficult fight for relatively inexperienced gamers, so I tend to recommend hitting it a bit higher. Don't try Legend with a party over level 18/19 or it just won' be much of a challenge.

* Elvira (this is a short but enjoyable 'test' map by the creator of REVENGE)
* Legacy: Grendelmoor through the end of the game proper
* REVENGE and/or the Legacy: Expansion Pack.. flit back and forth among these as you please.

Have I missed any maps that should be in here? Oh, yeah... once your party is over level... 40, was it? .. try CHAOS.

Right. Not an uncommon difficulty.

Explore Beraquel a little more closely. Look, perchance, for doors which HAD been locked when you first explored the city. Look, perchance, in the 'slums'.

Hi, guys!
I've been playing Legacy on a Nokia 6600 with great interest, untill I reached the Tower lvl1 .
I'm stuck there walking around the 5 holes and 4 swithes , not able to unlock any of the doors ahead. I've completed all 6 quests , have 2 keys and 4 of the coins ...
Would you be so kind to help me go further, please?
I read many pages from this thread and couldn't find a solution.

Thanks for the help :) !

We cannot help you with this -- not knowing what you've flipped, we can't tell you which should be up/down/etc.

While it IS possible to use logic for this (examine holes -- flip A SINGLE switch, examine new setup.. continue), I find that it's more a matter of lucking into the right combination.

Also, note that you only need to access one of the two keys hidden by the holes -- it's possible to circle around the entire building w/o opening BOTH doors.

Good luck. Know that ALL of us have struggled here, no matter how many times we've been through the game.

I've searched all the areas, concerned with the 6 quests up till the Tower lvl.1.
Do I need one of the keys next to the 5 holes to open a door next to them?

In general , what is the trick with the holes and the swithes - are holes closed by a special combination of the 4 swithes, or there's some other secret thing or ... ?

Thanks!

P.S.
Solved it :)
Really had to play with the switches harder !

Greetings!

I am a new user to the forum. Actually, I registered some time ago but the forum won't let me log on even tho I reset my password...sighs...rejects my user name...

Anyway, I am in Frozen Empire, have completed the area, and heading back to town to re-stock and go to Fire (with the key).

I am playing Swordmaster (initial charc) and knight (for eq purposes) on the front line. I have a cleric and Julias in the back. Everyone except knight is level 11 (picked him up in 2nd town and dumped my highlander).

Cleric has a bow and many healing spells (raise dead, etc). Julias is rocking with 289 sp and 44 int.

Digging the game!! Just wanted to say hello!

How to deactivate the wall of force in the House of Patience
How to start playing the add-ons Morah's Plan and King's Aide. Are there some special requirements by installation of them?
Any comments are welcomed. Thanks

Help!! I know I am something of a numpty at this game, but I am addicted and can't believe that I'm stuck again! I have passed through all levels in the Tower, got through the unknown cellar, explored Grendelmoore and surrounding areas thoroughly, and now, humph! I can't figure out how to get past the floor drain that sends you back to the start of the corridor in the ice empire, and I can't open any more doors in that area either to find any keys or switches. I can't get into the fire empire, as I don't have the right key.

I've killed the muccous dragon and got the first of mersant's books, but I seem to be a bit stuck. I can't find the switches for the forcefield in Grendelmoore so I don't know where else to go or look. Have I missed something in the Tower, or do I need to go back to Berequel? I'm sure the answers are on the Legacy threads on here, but there are so many posts I'll be here forever if I try and find them.

Any help much appreciated.

Hi everyone, I am stuck in the ice empire and cannot seem to be able to find the false wall in the south west corner of the 25 rooms. I think it is my key (litterally) to getting into the other doors and finally getting to the centre of the spiral room. I've seen it on the map from another site so I know that it's there but there is no cracked wall that I can find. Just a face plate on the wall. Help!!

gyffes
01-18-2005, 10:54 AM
Tree: You have not explored the Ice Empire thoroughly enough, as each door (except the one opposite where you enter) hides a switch that deactivates a floor drain. Look further. Come back with specifics when you're still stuck.

Icemedic: If you know of that false wall by looking at someone else's map: shame on you. You get behind that wall via a teleporter in the catacombs. Don't worry about it. And stop 'cheating', as you can see, it causes more headaches than it cures.

upol: add-ons -- once installed on your handheld, are accessible via various teleporters -- King's Aide is accessed via Decrantes, Elvira via Beraquel, Legend and REVENGE via Grendelmoor. For example. As for the wall of force -- you need to get around to the rear of the Wall(s) of force. Leave them all activated and try looping around (from the right, as it were). This is the hardest puzzle to solve, so good luck. Come back if you need specific pointers.

I've made it all the way up to tower level 3 and pushed the buttons to reveal the door, but I don't have the key to open it. I've searched all over this level and can't find a key. So, either I've missed something or it's on another level.

I have found out that you sent me hint for house of tricks, but thank you a lot anyway. The problem I wrote last time about concerns the house of patience. There is the large hall after the wall of force. To enter one need to open the blue door and in front of the passage leading to that hall are three round tiles that move the wall, two switches and three levers. I found a way how to pass the wall of force and came to the above mentioned hall. At the end of the hall are two key holes. I tried the right one, but there is only small room with another three walls, where is no secret switch or anything that can open or move it for further proceeding. For the left key hole I don't have any appropriate key. What key shoud I use and where I can find him? If it is "unreachable key", then I have a problem, since I didn't find a way how to get it.
Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

SAILING NUT -- have you completed the quest given you by the little dwarf outside the weaponshop?

Upol, I apologize if I steered you wrong; I misunderstood which wall of force you were blocked by.

The key is not unreachable, for while maddening, this game isn't unsolve-able. Leave the area, go explore elsewhere. That's really all I can offer you w/o knowing where you _have_ been. Umm.. have you... been through the area with all the wights? Do a dance with a few floortraps/moving wall parts and that gets you one key... I can't remember off the top of my head where the 2nd key comes from. This ain' one of the harder levels, ektually, so don't outthink yourself.

Catacomber, face the big-assed crack and 'attack' it. Just as you would a critter. If you've not yet fought any critters, you're going to have a heck of a hard time in the catacombs -- go explore the forest you began the game in, first.

China -- did you solve the lever puzzle and get the key beyond the forcefield? For the holes, there are two wall switches and one floor-plate. Place a rock on the floor plate.

gyffes

Correction: This is a fantabalous game.

The first several times I forayed into the spider catacombs, I had my head(s) handed to me.. took me quite some time 'fore I was able to finish that task. The damned gnomes were tough, as well, but a poison'd arrow and running away cut them down to size.. the spiders.. *phew*

One hint, Cat: buy only mana potions.. one mana potion will cure you several times (you DO have a cleric, yes?) at the same price as a cure potion.

Great Game!! I even played it at home instead of my usual online games. One of which I have been playing almost daily since 1998.

WELL DONE Creators!!

Details:

Day 35, 11:13pm

Knight: lvl 16 / dam 29-64 (Redshift axe) / ac 53 / hp 180
Mage: lvl 15 / sp 461 (Orasare staff) / ac 23
Swordmaster: lvl 15 / dam 21-37 / ac 45 / hp 175
Cleric: lvl 15 / sp 273 / ac 25 / hp 130 (uses bow regularly)

A Few Questions:

1) Is Legend to easy for this level characters?

2) What can I do with unsellable items (dragon swords, fire helm, etc.). Are these now "trash"? Doubt I will ever repeat the game again with the same characters.

3) Should I do the regular Expansion pack before Revenge? Does it make a difference in the story-line?

Sorry for the long post...I am just truely exicted about the game...GREAT fun!!

Once again, WELL DONE creators!!

Play Legend first; it's best for levels 15-19.

Revenge and Expansionpack are about the same, difficulty-wise. I recommend bouncing back and forth 'tween the two. There's no effect on storyline for doing so.

I keep the specialty weapons but as far as I know, there's no reason to once the specific critter is dead. I keep hoping someone'll put out a pack that requires them (say, a FireDragon-filled module...).

Enjoy Legend.

Hi. I know this has been asked before but I'm still totally stuck! Teleporters to teleporters. I know the sequence they go in and have attacked and examined every bit of wall along the route, including that only accessible whilst standing on the teleporter. I've drawn myself maps to ensure that I've tried everywhere but I just can't find anything hidden.
Can anyone help?

gyffes
02-08-2005, 08:37 AM
Egg, we're gonna need a bit more to go on.

First, are you still trying to get PAST the teleporters puzzle? There just are not that many wall segments to examine as you teleport around, so I have to assume you've NOT examined every bit of wall. For the record, the switch you're looking for is NOT on a part with a teleporter.

If you're past this part, please be more explicit in posing your question.

Aww shucks - I'm stuck again!! I'm in the House of Patience and have got as far as the laughing door. After trying numerous random 6 switch combinations I can't get the right one, so the door just keeps laughing...

Back in the other direction, I hear there's a mythical room past the walls of force bit, which has the combination for the switches. trouble is, I can't figure out how to get past the walls of force given that three of them have to be on to turn off the fourth one, but if the three are on, then I can't GET to the fourth one. Am I making sense?

I hope so, 'cos I need some help. This has been driving me nutty for the last week and a half!!

gyffes
02-17-2005, 08:51 AM
Tree, you're a mess of tidbits of knowledge and it's messing you up.

There is a "mirror" room that reveals the button pattern. The button room is found via one of the 3 entryway doors, the mirror room through another door. The Walls of Force are found through the RIGHT-most door, so you know that's NOT the door to check for the mirror. Is this enough to go on?

As to ultimately solving the wall of force puzzle.. here's what I'll tell you for now: Leave the 3 on and somehow find a path that goes AROUND all the walls.

Register at PDArcade and search the forum (http://www.pdarcade.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=15) there.. this has been addressed frequently, and recently. The threads are smaller than this one therefore more easily SEARCHed.

How high is your party? If you're in the 15-19th level range, try Legend before doing the Exp Pack and/or Revenge. If you're higher than that, save Legend for your NEXT party... too much of the challenge is gone if you're outside that range.

Hey, Titus, when you get jumped, SEARCH.

Ok, Massa, take a deep breath and exhale slowly. You're making things harder than they are.

First, Shelves. Take the items you mention in point 4 and place them at point 3. Voila!

That will take you to the 2nd flower. There, 3 problems down. Ignore the altar. It's not important to the game. If you find something you think might go there (it will be fairly obvious), then try it. Otherwise, move on.

In the Hill Cave, there is no replacing needed. Wander around and you will find a way to kill everyone. This is NOT where the Behemoth King is, so don't use the special arrows here!

greetings!

been enjoying this wonderful (*congratz*) crpg for a while now... :)

been pacing between the fire empire and the frozen empire, solving a bit of each... but got stuck...

i've made searches, i've read, but couldn't find anything related to where i'm stuck at the moment, so i would appreaciate any help...

i'm in the fire empire... i've completed the "choose one forget the other" part, also the part with the buddha statues, and the two corridors with moving holes...

the part i'm having difficulty is exactly -after- the part with the moving hole corridors... after the corridors, i come to a room with many (32?) holes, of which i can close only one... (the room also contains a mana sphere, to be clearer)...

i've killed every monster in this room using lightning bolts and fireballs... (i assumed maybe the guy just behind the mana sphere was also standing on some kind of a floor thingy, so that when he died, things would move on...:))

however, it seems this is not the case... i just can't get past those holes... therefore, for example, i can't get to the famous "6 shelves" room (which is to the south), or to the even to the ladder to fire catacombs (which is to the east)...

as for where i am in the frozen empire in a corresponding manner:

i've completed the spiral; the part with lots of fireball traps and elementals; the 6-switch part which leads to the 5 switches that lead to the lever; the red-green-gray teleporters; the fountain area; the 25 rooms...

however, i cannot open two doors: the one leading to the entrance of the frozen catacombs... and the other (secret?) door that is on the west wall of the southwest room (among the 25)... i think it connects that room to the green teleporter's section... there -does- seem to be such a door there, according to markus birth's wonderful map...

please help... :)

One: You know too much, which makes it hard to really explore with your eyes open. The blue door (leading down to the catacombs) cannot be opened from this side. You hafta be IN the catacombs to open this door.

Two: If you navigate ALL the way around the multi-hole room, ONE of the 3 doors is openable. Did you go in there and do what needed doing? If so, you may then be able to go to one of the OTHER doors in that room...

How many "Dragon" keys have ye?

mage
03-16-2005, 03:18 PM
thanks so much...

i am not able to "navigate" much in the multi-hole room... i can only move to a square where i can use the mana sphere, or the square just before that... otherwise, i fall, which takes me downstairs to the fire catacombs -- where there is the "green" door to the sotuth with the key i lack, and the "red" door to the east which just does not open yet (does not tell me about any keys i lack)... i can use the north door to teleport to the fire empire though...

i have a three "frozen" keys (their colors appear blue, light blue, and purple)... however, i'm afraid i have no "dragon" keys, even though i have killed the swamp dragon (who had the mucous dragon blade)...

gyffes
03-16-2005, 03:30 PM
Right, your task, then, is to follow the holes -- they move in a steady, stately pattern -- until you CAN get 'round the room. Aim for the door to the NORTH.

Don't worry 'bout the dragon keys, they'll come to you. I didn' read closely enough, I guess -- I was unaware you'd not made it around the room, yet.

mage
03-17-2005, 05:16 AM
wow!

once i finally got the hang of it and started movin' with the pattern you have mentioned, everything was incredible! :)

entered all the rooms, found all the dragon keys just like u said they'd come, "connected" the two catacombs --which was wonderful, no more walking/teleporting passing thru grendelmoore to get from fire to frozen & vice versa-- , killed the two dragons, got the ice dragon blade from negan, killed that dragon too!

now i'm in the home of patience!

(whispering: even found the redshift key -and- the redshift hq with the weapon) ;)

thanks so much once again! :D

De nada. Good luck in the Homes...and please, for future adventuring, try to avoid using the available maps.. the game's MUCH more fun w/o them. And in the various expansion packs, the puzzles are not as hard, in general, as in the main game, so you prolly won't need them as much.

Hi. I'm new to the forum, and new to Legacy, but have played other RPGs (on the PC and in meat-space.) I'm having trouble dropping items, once I've picked them up.
In the inventory screen, I can select an item and the window will tell me what's selected. (Such as "Pack: Rock".) Then I tap the green arrow, and I see an array of blank boxes, and the screen reads "Ground: Rock". But the rock doesn't appear in the boxes, and if I return to my inventory it's still there. When I leave the inventory screen, it's not on the ground in front of me either. Am I doing something wrong? Is there some game mechanic that makes items "sticky"?

Thanks.

gyffes
03-18-2005, 12:16 PM
Massa, there IS a LEGACY - LEGEND thread, please post your questions there.

Andrew, If you double-click an item on the ground (or on a shelf or whatnot), it enters your inventory. Open the inventory screen and find the item you want. Click it once. Now look at the arrows on the screen. One drops items, the other picks them up. I can't recall (after playing steadily for a year and a half -- how embarassing) which color is the DROP arrow, but your choices are limited so just try it.

Good luck, come back if/when you need more help. Oh, maybe read the HELP file in the game itself.

Ack, my PocketPC crashed bigtime and I foolishly hadn't backed up days of Legacy game-playing! That'll teach me...

Can someone provide me with saved game files? Or is there a cheat program that allows you to basically make one?

I was last in Tower level1, Beraquel, with a full party around level 9ish I think (swordswoman, highlander, priest, and battlemage), and had thoroughly explored the Amazons, berserks(name?) + ogre forest plus had cleaned out most of Level 1's tower, just searching for level2 entrance + last keys from conjurers etc.

Thanks!

S'what we're here for, Andrew. 'Luck.

Ah, dear snugglebunny, your best bet is to make a new party. Sounds extreme, I know, but I assure you this won't be the first time you do so. Furthermore, you'll be a smarter gamer as you make your way back through what you've already done AND you'll be able to do so with the following knowledge:

There's no point having a Highlander. Little point having a swords(wo)man. Due to a programming bug, the highlander does NOT get the weapons bonus he was s'pozed to. Swordsmasters just aren't worth the trouble as they cannot weild the "Blades" that form the crux of most 'ventures (you need a Fire Blade to take out the fire dragon, an Ice Blade to take out the ice dragon, etc) and lack armor even your battlemage can employ.

Start over with a new party (try to get the Knight and multiple mages). After N'Gora, take a side-trip through KING'S AIDE, a delightful free adventure, before journeying towards Beraquel.

Having replayed the game too many times to count, I assure you it's no less fun. Well, at least not the first 10 times or so.

gyffes
04-11-2005, 11:58 AM
Ladyfalena, the "choose one, forget the other" is not critical to succeeding in the adventure. The key to this section is found within the "checkerboard" section in the south (or, to the RIGHT as you enter the fire empire).

Which door do you still have to open in the catacombs? As with the original puzzle in the Ice Empire (remember how you proceeded through the spiral?), if you can't open a door in front of you, this means you've not gone far enough elsewhere. Have you found/solved the place where you're teleported back and forth past a little alcove?

ladyfalena
04-11-2005, 03:57 PM
gyffes...still have to open the big door that is gold and has a knob on it...you get to it by falling through the holes located next to the statues.....as far as I know I opened all of the checkerboard pattern found in the fire empire....which alcove are you talking about

ladyfalena
04-11-2005, 04:04 PM
the door that I am trying to open is the one that leads down to the dragon lair (has the portal that goes both ways)

gyffes
04-11-2005, 09:16 PM
Right -- giving us color of doors is useless, for the most part, as the doors, once opened, are not close-able so we can't TELL the color. Usually.

Have you explored the 'checkerboard' to the extent that there are but two or three gray (unexplored/unviewed) squares? You cannot, or you'd have a fire key to open one of the "choose one" doors.

Having said that, that section has nada to do with the door you're facing. Hrm. Where oh where is that specific key... ok. Have you opened ALL the closed doors within the fire and ice catacombs? SOMETHING remains closed, some lever remains unpulled.

Forcefield gets broken for you when you bring Mersant the 3 books.

Go to fire empire. Stand in front of the long line of moving holes right after entering the empire. Fall through a hole. Turn around. Move forwards. Explore a bit.

When your on a flight for work, your too wired to relax so out comes Legacy, you play for about an hour and the DAMN STOOPID Ipaq gives you a rasberry and goes flat.

disgruntled, you head off the plane jump in the car and start charging it up again ASAP.. (must finisht where you left off, forget the work)..

hit the office, max charge the baby again and head out to the park.. BUT OH NOES!!... the Ipaq has lost the lot. no programs, no game saves, zip nada nothing.

My well developed team of mid level 20's all gone, the 6k in gold, the spells, the skills, like a finely tuned machine they will not rise again.

In anger I too spit the dummy and head to the local for a soothing ale and a bite to eat. Whats this! I have my laptop, hrmm.. stuff it, re-install and start again. so much pain... damnit!.. I cant stop the Addidiction.

So, I reinstalled it all, forget about the work apps, the only thing that was reinstalled was Legacy, and 3 days later it's still the only thing on it.

In my "off" time I play EQ and WoW a lot, lets just say that Legacy fills the void where nothing else could. Thanks guys.

I know this question's prolly answered somewhere within the pages of the thread, but i have yet to sift it out, so here goes:

I'm in Tower lvl 1 in the second town and I have 2 questions:
1. How do you get to those secret shelves scattered all over the map? I've tapped practically every section of the walls and so far no luck.

2. Even though I got the two keys from the center region, but somehow there are still locked doors on that level that those two keys wont open and that nothing I've killed (which is practically everything I can reach) has dropped. I'm not referring to the gate that leads up to the second lvl of the tower, I mean the other doors on the first level of the tower.

Thanks tons :)

Its been a while for me, but if you mean the tower at Beraquel, the shelves were accessable via either secret switch (little raised square brick) or by breakable wall (wall with dark slash-marks).

2. Even though I got the two keys from the center region, but somehow there are still locked doors on that level that those two keys wont open and that nothing I've killed (which is practically everything I can reach) has dropped.

The shelves are found via some obvious and at least one NOT so obvious 'secret' levers. Each lever is in each room, so you merely need to go over EACH WALL quite slowly. The rooms are not that big. Go for it.

As to the locked doors -- if you follow one path from the room of multi-holes, you eventually wend your way back to the beginning on the opposite side of the tower -- if you did not get the key for that door at the Multi-hole stage, you won't be able to open that door.

Have you killed all the mages in that one room? I believe 2 of the 3 drop a key, the last key is via a door off that room with the columns.

I understand. I guess this means...

We're off to slay the Lizards, The Legacy Lizards - Huzzah!
We'll find their lair, no matter where, in cowardice we trust!
With Adamantium Mail we shall prevail! Hell Sabre Impail! -- and Lycan Flail!
Against our foes we'll rage and rail...
...Because our stoned mage cannot fail!
We're off to slay the Lizards, The Legacy Lizards - Huzzah!

Oh! Scarsha fought just like a girl -- with undead touch she's but a twirl!
And Lycans, fearsome though they be, can do no harm away from me!
Yeah, Neme-sissies - filthy thieves - return all when brought to their knees!

And so I say - and tell you true - i'll turn those lizards into stew!

What level are you? If it is still early in the game, go grab a new person at the Inn (or start over -- you'll play better the 2nd time around for the experience the first time).

If it is later in the game, you have a few options. RAISE DEAD is a spell that sells for about 4800 in a few of the higher magic shops -- but can be found in King's Aide, which is a safe world to venture through for parties level 5 and up (but don' play it if you're higher than 8-9th level, it'll be too easy).

Black fountains are few and far between, but these also raise dead when drunk at.

And, of course, the occasional RAISE DEAD scroll exists.

In my eagerness to get that response out, however, I neglected the simplest way to recover your dead: revert to a saved copy.

This presupposes, of course, that you're saving frequently, or at least at the beginning of relatively risky sections (before entering the Spider Catacombs, say).

Some find this a bit of a cheat -- and you will too, later -- but at low levels it's vital. Especially if you're only just learning the game.

However, I assure you you'll play better with the new party for having had a bit of gaming under yer belt.

Remember, if you're not happy with the character you start with, feel free to swap out at the Inn. Or, better yet, START NEW GAME until you begin with whomever pleases you. THEN get him/her friends. That way, you won' waste anyexp (say, by killing a few spiders on your way to town and then dumping that character).

Ahhh, to be young and discovering Legacy, again...

Hi, sounds cool that you can play it on pc... But i think i'll better get a little more into it, before i buy the pc version... ;) But i have a question: In the first town, there is a man asking you to kill some gnoems in he's basement. He says that i should get him some kind of artifact or something (can't remember what it is :) ) But he wants me/my party to go down and get it, and then go back to him with it... And when i have explored the basement, and killed all the gnoems, and taked the wepon behind the gate... But i can't find the thing he wants me to find... Please help! :)

Thanks

Right. Go back beyond the gate. There is not a lot of surface area here, so examine ALL THE WALLS carefully. Eventually, you'll see something that looks... not quite right. TAP the screen there and then look around again.

Hi, Im into new problems alredy :D I'am in this dungen a short distance from the first town. It is in this dungen that i have found ashelas gem (can't remember the name, but it's something like that :D) In the same dungen theres is some switchs, and i think that you have to have them all to be just right, for the fire/magic to disapeer... (See picture) http://www.imagehosting.us/imagehosting/showimg.jpg/?id=486041

And my question is HOW shold i set the swithes to make the fire go away?!

Ok I have FINALLY made it through the "hell" zone, collected all the sphere's and even defeated Sohl.

Loved the little speach at the end, but whats next? I feel like a dill just standing there with nothing to kill and the only way out is to port of backtrack.

Just seams like i'm missing something. Or is that where Legacy kicks in?

Come, come now... There's only 4 switches, so there's just 16 possible combinations. It doesn't take long to try them all. Just be methodical, and you'll get it.

Oh, and this might be one of those force fields that doesn't go away even if you've solved the puzzle - you still have to head-butt it to find out if you're right or not.

In Sohl's cave area there is a room with a heap of pressure pads that lead to a force field, Now knowing that I have slaughtered Sohl, mashed all his minions and happilly looking forward to the next adventure this force field not being open is actually bugging me.

It's like a thorn in my side not allowing me to proceed without sorting out this puzzle, I have tried heaps of combinations with dropped rocks, honestly I have been working on this for the last 2+ hours.

What on earth am I missing!.

thanks guys.

In a very gyffesian way I'll provide some hints...

Notice how the force field lights up when you approach it, i.e. something activates it? Back away from the room and the force field is down again. Now, try some different approaches - no rocks are necessary. The reward was a bit of a letdown, if I recall correctly. Unless of course I missed the actual reward. You never know.

Welcome to 1src, Bar!

Deny, you're finished. Leave the floorpads 'less you wanna frustrate y'self to death. Now, go get REVENGE and the Expansion pack, you've twice the gameplay or more still ahead of you.

Both REVENGE and the ExpPack have less of the mindnumbing puzzles, and each will offer you the physical challenge(s) you've been missing recently.

Also -- how powerful are your guys? If you're too much higher than 18, you won't enjoy it, but otherwise, I recommend LEGEND, first.

Thanks for the reply guys,
Always good to hear from you and be pointed in the right direction :D

All my team are lvl 17 or 18 and are working quite well with the exception of my highlander (Female) in second chair, I have a feeling she might be looking for a new job very soon.

And I must admit, much to the frustration of my workmates, I have purchased the expansion and Legend packs with revenge on the list for later this week provided I have the funds. I'm still trying to recover funds from all the medical and hospital bills over the last 6 months, I think that hurt more than all the operations put together!!

And one last point, this goes out to HP/Compaq, For gods sake, please make these 39XX series with a better battery, 1 hour or less of constant legacy before going flat is just not on!!.. hehe

take care, and again thanks heaps guys

Deny, this might not be such a helpful suggestion given yer financial state, but look for a good Clie (either NX70 or 80) to play on -- I get HOURS of Legacy before I even tip the battery below 50%.

Having said that, I think that at 17/18, you'll find Legend too easy. Save it for your second party (which should enter somewhere around 14-15). Take current party through Exp Pack and Revenge (if your Compaq can handle both at the same time, jump back and forth).

The problem with Highlanders is they were supposed to get bonus damage for LARGE/HEAVY weapons but, through coding snafu, they DON'T HAVE THE BONUS! Ergo, they're no better than Adventurers, or worse, as they may have limitations the Adventurers don't.

heh.. so you're actually playing with a handicap.

William Wallace (Braveheart) would be rolling in his grave if he knew what had become of his proud Highlanders.

So with a tinge of sadness I handed her an small bag containing her severance pay and bade her fair weather.

hrmm... now what!, Battlemage, Swordie or a male highlander... reverting to save game I think

MALE highlander? Haven' ya been listening to ANYTHING I been tellin' you?? And swordmasters are pansies, can't lift the Big Blades y'need to fight baddies.

Go with a qualified BM. Although, at the level you're at, you'll find they've foolishly devoted FAR too many points to useless skills like DEX.

You might be better off gettin' a level 5 or 10 one and doin' a few small fights (elvira!) to get her quickly up close to your level.

ROFL...

Me, Listen and learn at the same time!!... OMG!

yes I have mate, I was referring to what was available in the tavern not what I actually wanted. The decision to retire her is made though, after stepping into the tower and managing to meet some new friends i found it easier to keep the mage and cleric alive than the 50AC Highlander, sad to see her go though, she was gentle on the eye and actually had a plesant voice as she sang late at night by the campfire..

oops, hang a sec, thats the morphine kicking in again....

thanks for your help as always guys.
