OK this might sound weird but a strange thing happened ... i was playing Tatum 2 on my NX and I think it hard reset itself (or something like that ) ... when it came on, it asked for the same settings that you enter when you first use your NX (like date/time, digitizer etc.) ... whatever I had loaded was all gone
:( ... now comes the really weird part .. when I loaded some of what I lost (mind you not all of them), everything came back ... even what I did not reload  ... now whenever I do a hotsync, it makes me reset (soft reset) ... this never happened before ... it isnt giving any problems other wise .. but everytime I hotsync, I have to soft reset ... any one know what could be going on ????

I would imagine hotsyncing would bring most of your things back. Hotsync does a sort of backup (not dependable though), it sounds like SOMETHING you're backing up/reinstalling is corrupted.

If it were me, I'd do another hard reset, and before I hotsync, I'd rename the backup files found in the Sony Handheld directory (under your user name). At this point, once you hotsync you'll get your basic datebook, memo and address info back and nothing else, then start re-installing the things you want. If you really want to make sure you've got un-corrupted software, you may even want to go as far as re-downloading your Palm Software. I've done that when something was corrupt and I couldn't pin it down.

Good luck to you.

thanks for the info, things just get more and more weird ... yesterday, I tried to install ZLauncher and at hotsync, it gave me the same problem. After that when I did another hotsync for other stuff, the reset bit was gone ... not sure what to believe ... will do what you said and try re-installing them again ...

perhaps when you hotsync, it's pullin some program files so its assuming you're reinstalling the program and it might need a reset after program install . . . .

gee that sounds too much like something a windows machine requires, prolly why i bought a Palm instead of a g0d-forsaken Pocket PC!! (shudders)
