I'm a newbie to palmOS development and I'm trying to decide on my tool... would you recommend codewarrior 9 (@ $399), the prc-tools w/ cygwen (free), or falch.net's developers studio (@ 229)?

anyone tried more than one? sound off on your experiences before i make this kind of investment!!!

thanks!!

This is not the correct forum for this post...please repost in the development forum. Just so its not a total waste, I've used prc-tools / cygwin and MobileStudio ($30) to good results. MobileStudio appears to have died but they are still selling copies (no 5.0 devel there). Falch.net is what I'm considering switching to. CodeWarrior is horrible interface wise (IMO) due to the fact that they maintain the old Mac interface (or did last I checked). If you've done work in VC++ you'll feel much more at home on MobileStudio (which contains a WYSIWYG form editor for that crazy cheap price!) or Falch.net. There are also on board solutions such as Quartus forth, an implementation of Forth on the Palm that allows compilation with no runtime libraries. Its free to try and learn Forth but if you want to compile stuff you'll have to shell out the 60 odd dollars that the tool costs. There are also solutions that require runtime libraries but I don't know the cost / benefits of them since I haven't used them personally.

Hope that helps

If you point a newsreader at news.falch.net, they've got some usenet newsgroups that are dedicated to general PalmOS programming.
