This is the NZ90 review by the local weekly issue comupter post. Seems like the battery issue has yet to stir up some question marks.

in the article the editor/author refers to the NZ90 as the NZ90/g are these the same devices? Just want to make sure there is one device and not two different ones before I order mine!

1. As to the G after the NZ name in that review, if I'm not mistaken some of the Sony releases, depending on where they're sold geographically will have that extra distinction, i.e., the UK release, Japan, etc., etc..
2. The flash - the other review was pcWorld - I dont' remember what thread. That reviewer had the backlight cranked down by 1/2, and I'm sure that made a significant impact on the flash usage power consumption. This reviewer may not have. I'm sure there are other power issues with the cam such as writing the pics to onboard memory versus memory stick. MS probably will chew up more battery life I"m guessing.
Lots of variables to consider - dm

btw two more tips to save on battery life aside from turning backlight down
Turn off receive beam in prefes
and disbale all sounds
helps me on my nx70 when using wifi

I've always liked my sounds unbaled (sorry, had an attack of Pedanticism).
I think part of the diff. on the battery with flash is one report said it took 107 flashes during the day, while this last evidently just kept hitting the button to see when it would die. Hence, not much chance for the battery to recover between flashes. And, as Littlesix pointed out, a lot of variables in these tests.

good point phil, i think that the 100 flashes per charge is more of what we can expect with real life use
yeah davy turning off the recieve works temporarily. Every time you hotsync it turns back on.

it seems that we need a forum on how to save battery power in NZ. Let's start one when we have played around the NZ. Heard that the bluetooth MS consumes a bit of power. So, not surprised if there will be a procedure list to minimize NZ power consumption.

Well here I am surfing the Cliesource site waiting for my NZ which shipped this evening. I live in Tokyo and so that means tomorrow night I will be NZing-which is cool as I orginally came from New Zealand (NZ) so I am a true NZer.
I will not get much sleep tonight I guess and I have to work tomorrow and leave home at 11:00-may it arrive at 10:00; but will not get home until 11:00pm-aaah come in the morning.
Well I will have to be satisifed looking at pictures again tonight.
The NZ is relased in Japan tomorrow and so I will be one of the first to get one-aah this is COOL.

Hey Bryan, that's cool.
I can share your joy of another few 'couple of hours' of waiting prior to holding your very own NZ90. Don't forget to give us your comments/views on the toy. Have fun Bryan !!

Put two tooth-picks between both eyes and use a long rope to tie between your hair and the ceiling lamp .. starring hard on the road to scan for any passby delivery truck :) ... just kidding ...

Well I got it!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!! Sat up until 2:00am and got everything installed without a problem. I am working in Tokyo today and so it is our first road trip together. I will definatly use the camera and if I get time go for the Wifi as well.
I brought with the Wifi and the extra battery and Sony sent a case with it.
First opinion-it is not an NR or NX it is definatly an NZ-the form is different especially with the camera.
I use Graffeti all the time becasue I hate the keyboard on the NR but the NZ keyboard looks tempting.
It is it a brick? It is a little heavy but nothing you cannot live with; a lot lighter than carrying around a laptop (which I have done for years) but it fits nicely in my hand.
The ansewer is a big yes to the NZfrom the guy from NZ-I will keep you up to date on how it works.

Well I used the NZ today on the road for the first time. Goodbye laptop; this is what a PDA should be.
The key board is BRILLIANT. The battery life is incredible-and I used the camera six or seven times and the Clie for email and stuff all day and came home with a little left that 50% left.
Camera: get this; I used the flash for a couple fo shoots and then took the same shoots with no flash (indoors) and the ones without the flash came out better.
But all of the photos are as good as my digital camera-aah this is worth it alone.
OS5 and the Sony Program manager took a little getting used but once I found where everything is I will use-goodbye YIshow!!
Aaaaah I AM IN LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
