665 Case Questions--SENA & EB cases

I'm the proud owner of a T665...actually my late Christmas present to myself! And, I prefer to protect my new toy with a case and screen protector before I really start playing with it.

I would prefer as much protection as possible and really like a leather case rather than the harder aluminum cases. I like the idea of being able to hot synch with the case on. I anguished over ordering the EB slipper and magnetic SENA for days before finally ordering the SENA model with magnetic closure.

I haven't received the SENA yet, but I think I may have made a mistake based on some of the things I have read here. It seems that the cut-outs on the bottom of the magnetic SENA are rather large to accommodate the ability to hot synch.

I will make my final decision on the SENA once it gets here, but...I would appreciate feedback from those with experience with these particular case types. I may exchange the SENA magnetic closure model for the snap closure model. I would be giving up the ability to synch with the case on, but I would have peace of mind knowing that the bottom of the PDA is protected. The pictures of the snap SENA seem to show more leather coverage on the bottom. Is that so? Oh, and I do like the VAJA, but those cases are out of my budget range.

My other option is to go for the EB slipper case and retain the ability to hot synch with the case on. For those who have this particular case--is there sufficient leather coverage on the bottom area? It appears from pictures that there is a small opening--nowhere as large as the SENA cutouts.

I would go with Sena snap closure. Sena is in general very attractive case.

I had the Sena (magnetic version) and it was a good quality case.

I didn't like the transition from thick to thin leather on the back or the big cutouts on the bottom. It made it seem less protective. I understand that the snap version offers more protection, but I don't like how those type of case won't lie flat on a table.

I don't have the EB, but that would be my choice. It's fully enclosed. I've had other EBs before and liked them very much.

For now, I have just been using a Sony Flip Case ("open box" for $10!). I don't wan't to carry memory sticks (other than the 32MB one in the Clie) with me during the day, anyway.

I used the Sena snap case for my T665. Actually, I helped them design and create that case, because they originally had nothing in a secure snap case. I had the same concerns regarding the magnetic version, and the amount of open space (not a big fan of magnetics near electronics in the first place) - and in speaking with one of the owners, we discussed a snap-style closure that would protect the bottom of the case better. I still have one of the original pre-production prototypes he sent me after the first round of prototypes were made. Even for a first run, the quality was superb and it was just as attractive as any of their other cases.

Highly recommended - Yes, I know I am biased! But I have a Vaja, too, and I would choose the Sena in a hearbeat due to the price point, if I had it to do over. Unfortunately, a case was priority #1, and Sena and I were still "discussing" a snap case when I had to buy one - Vaja was the first out the gate with a leather snap closure T665. Sena does a MUCH better job with the Memeory stick holders, too. They are tighter, and the sticks don't fall out like they do with the Vaja's.

Oh, and BTW, I still have both the Vaja (black floater) and the Sena (Black/Blue) - they are for sale at a very reasonable price if you are interested. Send me an email or PM if you want more details!

I have owned Senas and E&Bs and Vaja cases, and consider the Sena to be between the E&B and Vaja in protection, style, etc.

My Sena case synced quite nicely in the cradle, and I did not feel that the bottom was particularly exposed. I was a bit concerned about the two exposed bottom corners, but they never caused any real problems.

Lately, however, I am pretty much sticking to my Innopocket aluminum case because I carry my T665 in my front pants pocket and this case protects it from crushing, keeps the screen safe, etc. I DO miss the MS pockets, but now carry the MS in my little earbud pouch.

I'm this thread starter...and I've now officially registered on this wonderful forum. I was originally embarrassed to post with my "silly" fears about the exposed part of the SENA magnetic case, but I'm so happy with the thoughtful and helpful responses posted so far. It's nice that other users have the same concerns.

I ordered the magnetic SENA late Tuesday night, and just emailed them...hoping to catch my order in time to change it to the snap closure model...but regretably (HAHAHA--for once I'm disappointed in quick shipping) they already shipped my order yesterday.

So, I should receive my original order tomorrow. Will keep you all posted on my saga with cases. Heehee, my G2 screen protectors should be here shortly too.

I have the Sena case with magnetic closure and I think it is great! Since I can sync with it on, I rarely remove the 665 from the case. The open corners are of little concern. In fact, it actually feels better in my hand when I can feel the metal of the clie. Snap closures are okay, but the magnetic closure only requires a simple flip of the lid to close. It has been about 5 months since I got the case, but the magnets don't affect the clie at all. At least as far as I can tell.

The best thing about the magnetic closure on the the EB and Sena cases is that you can close them one handed. Many other cases with magnets still have a strap that wraps around the back, requiring two hands.

I just received my Sena T665 magnetic closure case last week (without belt clip) and think it's great! No problem hot sync'ing. In fact, I don't have to remove the unit from the case to do anything except a soft reset (which is extremely rare).
My Wife just got an Innopocket aluminum case for her T615 and we've already sent it back to exchange for a DSI. She is only interested in aluminum since she wants the Clie protected when it's on the bottom of her purse.

I have a rhinoskin metal case. It has all the cutouts that the unit requires and all are exactly the right size. I can hotsync without removing the unit at all. As a matter of fact I never remove the unit from the case. Also since having the case, I have dropped the unit 2 times with no damage at all.
