Try FastCPU (http://www.palmblvd.com/software/pc/FastCPU-2000-08-18-palm-pc.html)

I tried Afterburner, and it seemed to do waht it was suposed to. I got nervous about maybe damaging my SJ-30, and unistalled it. This is just my goofy notion, I had no evidence that there was any problem.

Speaking of Damage, does any know if certain programs or utilities can 'harm' the clie's to a point where it renders the unit non-functional. Or, can a virus damage the 'operation' of the Sony Clie? I've always wondered that.

Would performing a reset default the unit back to "new" ?

Harry,

I tried Afterburner and Cruise Control on my SJ22. They did not significantly increase speed according to the Speedy program. However, FastCPU was able to significantly increase the reported speed index of my SJ22 as shown on Speedy.

The funny thing about this is that even at a reported speed almost equal to the SJ33, my programs did not run much faster! But, the battery did discharge quicker.

I also tried the other approach, under-clocking. Again FastCPU worked best for me. By slowing everything down to 22MHZ my SJ22 does seem to run slower but not by much from a program/ application execution speed. The up side is the battery seems to last longer.

And, for the record, I did not detect that the SJ22 became warmer or unstable at any speed. In the end, I can get the most out of my SJ22 by keeping the brightness doen as much as possible and letting unit run at 22MHZ. Let us know what you observe with your efforts.

Regards,

Tony

Thanks for the people who reply to my thread.

I tried the software FastCPU on my SJ30.
And you're right Tony, my clie does go faster then before.
However the battery life time seems to remain about the same.
i don't feel my clie heating up or what so ever.
I have to charge it up about every three days beacuse i used about three hours of my PDA per day.
On the other hand, i used speedy also.
i uninstall fastcpu and ran a speedy's test and the cpu was running at 34mhz... then i install fastcpu again and ran another speedy's test and the result is faster than before, it's running at 46mhz.... however i have problem with ms import as a result, i have to disable the overclock on that program.
