Hi everybody,
I have an nx80v. I've been reading posts and googling for ways to get my dvd movies into my clie. I came across this program called "DVD-to-MPEG" that can convert *.ifo files ripped from dvds (I use DVD Decryptor) into MPEG1 files.

I tried it last night and it was fast and easy though I am trying to get the settings right. Haven't figured out what width and height to use (there's 480 but no 320 and the picture looks stretched vertically when I use 480X480). And also the "audio" setting didn't work well for a music video I wanted to convert. I converted a 16 minute segment of one of my dvds and got it onto my CF card and played it using Movie Player -- no problem other than the faces looked a bit stretched.

It's a free download though the full version (trial version says that it doesn't allow the whole movie to be converted though I haven't tried it yet) is $24.95 according to their site.

If anyone tries this, please post and tell me if you figured out the best settings. Thanks. I'll probably buy this if I can be sure it can do this well and reliably.

Hi, I often convert my DVD's as well as TV recorded onto my computer into Divx5 format which can be viewed on the nx80. The absolute best way to do this that I have found is using a combinaton of the Gordian Knot DVD ripping package and VirtualDub. Gordian Knot will get the movie into Divx format with MP3 sound. As well as keeping the video in the right aspect ratio. I have not yet been able to get MP3 sound to work properly so I then use VirtiualDub to convert the MP3 into ADPCM or PCM format. Just use a direct stream copy for the video as image converter will fix the size and compression. ADPCM is not very good quality but is perfectly acceptable for most occasions and is much smaller than PCM. Then just run the divx through sony image converter and it will recompress the video while keeping the ADPCM sound and you should be able to get at least a full movie onto a 128 card. Best thing about this software is that it is all free. See the below site for software as well as help. http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/software2.htm
