Greetings! I am now a proud owner of a refurb'd NR70V, which I love. I was trying to restore some of the settings from my old T615C when I noticed the images in Addressbook associated w/ various ppl/places weren't listed. I entered edit mode of Addressbook, clicked on the area that says "No Image" and I get this:

NoPhotoGallery software

(?) The Photo Gallery software is not installed in this device. Please install necessary application and try again

This is something that neither my wife (S320) nor I (T615C, T665C briefly) had ever come up against and for the life of me I can't find any reference to it in the installation disk. Can't find it on my wife's S320 either, and she gets her images fine.

Is this something that can be recovered/restored from anywhere? I've pretty much resynced myself right out of box as I have w/ all the other Palms/Clies I've had, and this is a first for me.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kev!

PS: I suppose there is one piece of info that might affect this: I'd come across the posts on this group of how to get the very neat NX core aps (addressbook, memopad, etc.) onto the NR and have done so. Would this have thrown off addressbook? I've tried using the "old" addressbook and it also turns up the same error message as mentioned previously.

Do you have picture gear pocket on the clie installed and pictures in pgp format stored in the clie ram? if you do. then when you go to an address book entry, edit it and click on "no image" it'll bring up pgp and will let you select a picture. then when you are done editing, viewing address book entries will have the picture you selected.

Yes, I'd mentioned that in my initial post. I am aware of *how* to do it (linking an image to addressbook), the problem is that apparently there's some other program missing (please refer to original post for details).

I've tried one other thing since my initial post: I've searched on my wife's and my coworker's Clies (S320 and NR70V) using MS Gate for anything resembling "Photo Gallery," finding nothing except for a very significant-looking file called Image Viewer Address Link, or something to that effect. I've tried to both beam and copy and paste to a memory stick. In both cases, you will now see the file that *wasn't* there before on *my* Clie, but after you go to addressbook and (unsuccessfully) link an image the ImageViewerAddressLink file is *gone*.

So, in my mind, it all comes back to that "Photo Gallery" program. I believe that it refers to PGP, which *is* installed on my Clie, but perhaps there's a plug in that I'm missing?

Thanks again for the reply and to anyone who invests any amount of time on this : ) .

Kev!

The NX address book supports photos on the NX, the NR address book supports pics on the NR, the NX address book doesn't support pictures on the NR. There is a program called photo gallery that only runs on OS 5 that the app uses to display the pictures. Unfortunately this program doesn't run on the NR. It's one of those trade offs you make for getting the hires+ address book, you lose the picture support.

Ahh. Yes, and now when I've tried to pull the NX version off I'm getting a fatal exception error when attempting to use the old version of address book. Well, new problem, but thanks for the answer to the old one, pigburger! time to start a new thread.
