After 3 weeks off trying to get my home wifi access point to work, I finnally gave up and bought a bluetooth digicom modem.
Now web browsing, email works at true 57,000 bps speed, and it even comes with a setup guide for the ux 50 (on the cd).
I tried to get along with just my bluetooth phone but it is just too slow for web browsing.
Size, about the same size of the ux 50, somewhat bigger. AC adaptor is to big, but I think I can get a smaller one.
Downside is the modem noise at dialing, which is to loud for me.
price 149.00

Hi,
I have to say it is well worth persevering with the wifi - I decided to ruin a perfectly good weekend a few months ago going wireless and after several hours of tearing my hair out it all came together. By the time I got my UX50, my wireless point was set up at home and I was amazed that all I had to do was tap 'connect' on my Clie and I was online. So cool!
If you have any specific questions about going wireless it might be worth searching here or posting a new question. From what I have seen there are some extremely knowledgeable people on this board!

Were you able to connect to other Wireless AP's or did you only try yours? It might be an incompatibility. Although everything is supposed to work happily together that is still an occasional issue.
CompUSA sells Wireless Cable/DSL routers or Access Points for about $30 on a regular basis. With that being the case replacing your WAP is a pretty cheap option. I've used my UX50 with a SMC, Netgear, Belkin and Cisco 802.11b AP so far without a problem (those are the ones where I knew the brand).

Are you sure you don't have the ux40?

Yes, I'm sure,
I'm one of MANY ux 50 users who have problems with a home access point.
Just search on wifi problems and invald network settings and you will find quite alot.

I guess I got lucky. I spent 15 minutes reading directions and about 10 minutes connecting stuff. Autoconnect worked first time. I was surprised at how easy it was. The only problem I had what when I put in the wrong MAC for filtering. Good thing as I have nothing with bluetooth.

My wifi worked (still does!) right out of the box, super easy. Still can't LANsync, tho.
I'm thinking about moving to BT from wi-fi due to problems w/LANsync, and isn't bt more power-friendly?
Can you run down the list of bluetooth settings? JUst wanna get an idea.
