View Full Version : NX Wireless Performance
I would be interested in hearing from NX users who like me are less than thrilled by the wireless perfromance of their Clie's. I'd also like to hear from those who are unable to retreive their MSN email.
Thanks,
Jim

It works very nicely for me too. Leave the power save option unchecked or it will kill the speed. Using Net Front can be a trip in itself! Everything else is fine, hotsync, email, web browsing, and control of my computer.

I am extremely happy with my WiFi experience with the Clie. I haven't had a single issue with email, and I use Blazer or WebPro if I want speedy, no-frills internet browsing. The instant messenging programs and remote desktop control applications work very well for me, too.
Extremely pleased.

No problems here too.. I use the Wifi primarily for hotsync, surfing and downloading email headers.. sometimes for updating Worldmate currency and weather too..
Just noticed 1 problem, Wifi hotsync sometimes fails when large files are put into install.

Im using netfront to type this reply and browse this forum. It works out ok. I just can't get any other internet software to work with my proxy server. Overall Im pretty happy with it.
No, no spying here. I love the Clie but can't retreive my email from MSN (the web based version not POP3) and "surfing" the net is right out! Much to slow. Takes forever to load the site. I'm told part of the problem is a lack of memory. I unchecked the power saving box. Can't say I've seen any improvement. The "!!" modification took care of the synch problem. NetFront sucks. I'm going to try some of the products mentioned here. But all I REALLY want to do, eventually, is check my email and pop into a couple of web sites using Bluetooth.
Thanks for the help.
Jim

You can increase the speed of NetFront by:
1) Disabling images and animations
2) Clicking the green magnifying glass icon on the bottom until it contains a minus sign (or no sign)
You can also try going to www.mazingo.net/mobile. There are many links to PDA friendly sites on that page. If those don't load fast, then you know your problem lies elsewhere (make sure your WAP is transferring at 11Mbps, and not 5Mbps or less).
NetFront is worth sticking with -- it's a very powerful browser.

blueflame, follow my instructions above, and you should be able to get in with consistency.
Also, you can disable the cache and hit the 'Delete Cache' option once in a while.
