I thought I'd visited the old forum for my Clie and what do I find?Everyone trying to justify why they still have the NR70V.
A couple of months ago we were all riding high! Even the forum thinned out.

Well, I'm still happy with my Clie but I do have to admit the NEW NZ90 Clie is awesome!

Do start up the picture thing again...I enjoyed it ( I too wanted to see Caligirl );)

Yes, I agree that it is somewhat sad , the NR70 forum is not what it is used to be.

I happen to know that there are a couple of interesting new software titles coming in the next couple of months that make use of the camera of the NR70V. And since Sony has not released the necessary information to developers on how to control the camera on the NX [ or NZ ] these software titles will only work on the NR70V until ( if ) they do. So dont be jealous of the NX owners, maybe soon it is them who will be jealous of people having an NR. ;)

I'm still happy with my NR, and so are lots of other people. In fact, a friend of mine just bought one the other day.

The new PDA will always have the "buzz", but many, many people will continue to use their NR for a long time.

When one comes out with 32MB, that's when I might think about upgrading.

The same people who jumped from the NR to the NX (why, I can't imagine, unless they actually needed the Wi-Fi) will jump to the NZ, and then everyone will be saying how no one likes the NX anymore.
Let them jump from one to the other and make Sony wealthier. It'll keep the development going until we're ready to upgrade.

I didn't want to get the NX, but I was forced to "jump" from the NR to the NX when my screen broke.

As far as not understanding why anyone would step up unless they needed the WiFi... You have to remember that the NX is running PalmOS5, has a 1megapixel Camera, does Video recording straight to the MS, and has a 200mhz chip that flies! WiFi is not the only difference between the two models. I miss my NR though, I had it setup so nice.

My wife and I are both crazy about ours (well, neither of us have the "V")! Sure, there are lots of cool newer PDAs out there, but once you've spent a lot of time and moolah getting everything you want for your system, who really wants to start all over again?

The Army is now initiating a program to test the idea of issuing a PDA to every officer (and every NCO eventually, I guess, maybe even EVERY soldier). The idea being that one day, the Army can stop printing new field manuals every two or three years, and just post updates to the 'net ,where they can then be downloaded to a soldier's handheld. Here at the school of advanced military studies, they gave out new iPaqs to six of my fellow students. Wow, was I disappointed!

Okay, that was partly because I didn't get one ;), I mean who doesn't like free stuff?! They came with the Targus keyboards, 512mb SD cards (or CFs, whatever the 3800s are using), bluetooth cards, and a bunch of software. :(

What really disappointed me was that the Army might go with M$. I don't know if they're trying Palms somewhere else (probably), but I know that's the direction that I'd take.

As for the forseeable future, it's the NR for me. It does all that I need it too (minus a silly desire to surf the net, like I used to do on my CE with my 56K CF modem).

I don't need the latest and greatest.... unless, of course, my wife goes out and gets something even neater than mine ;)

Yes, there are more differences than just the Wi-Fi, but some of those differences favor the NR, like more usable memory, and being able to run more programs at this time. My point is that I don't think the NR-NX switch gets you that much for your money, but I was really talking about people who voluntarily switched - buying one because your screen broke is different (although I think I would still choose the NR over the NX - maybe not over the NZ).

It seems obvious that many of the people who switched have a fetish about having the "latest" PDA. Those are the people who will be jumping on the NZ, and the next model after that.

For the money, the NR70 is a great PDA with all the features I want and need.  The one thing I would like to have on the NR70 is the voice recorder.

Don't forget that the NX also has 200mhz and it will be compatible with the new MS Pro, the voice recorder alone makes it more functional than the NR....
