Anyone have some tips to avoid document renaming

duh

when HotSyncing with 2 PCs?

Besides being an annoyance, it increases the risk of dropping new or changed data.

DataViz doesn't seem very concerned. I did not get much help from tech support.

My question to DataViz (which went unanswered  ) was, if the files are truly "native," why can't date/time/size determine whether a file is ignored or overwritten? By their ignoring me, they really were answering:

who_cares
who_cares_1
who_cares_1_1
who_cares_2

Every so often I take a little time and clean everything up on both my PCs. I've done it enough that I'm pretty fast with it, but I shouldn't have to be fooling with this #$%@!

I too am baffled by the way docs to go creates additional files. I guess they are playing it safe making sure that no files get lost. I usually jump into the program on my clie and uncheck the files that I know haven't changed to avoid this.

I can't say I know what DTG's reasoning is but there are issues with those of us that travel long distances in keeping the date/time on both systems consistent when time zone changes are factored in - especially if you were synching to a PC in a remote location. This is especially true when you cross the international date line. To do it correctly, if you have changed the time zone in your clie, the program would have to adjust the time difference. And then if you are synching with a laptop and have both with you and forget to change your PC...all hell would break loose when you began to overwrite the wrong files. I would think they are trying to avoid this whole mess.

The PC version of Outlook automatically synchs time zones and I still manage to get everything screwed up now and then. More than once I have forgotten to change my PC's or Clies timezone and sent out meeting notices for 2:00 am and my PC or Clie shows that the meeting is at 2 in the afternoon the following day. Hopefully someone sends you a reply and asks why you want to meet at 2:00 am. You would be surprised how many people accept though.

And I find that Sheet to Go fairly often drops bookmarks.

Also, Excel report print formatting for the PC sometimes vanishes. It's a pain manually resetting the

select print area=>add custom view=>add to report

I'm trying to figure what conditions set these problems off so I can avoid them.

D2G creates unsolicited duplicates, deletes files on the desktop and manages to corrupt files in My Documents including some that have nothing to do with my pda. It can do all of this without ever changing a time zone, too!

If it did it all the time or in a particular set of circumstances, there might be a clue to the cause. But it seems to be quite erratic. Also, no support here from DataViz. I'm considering throwing in the towel and getting Wordsmith but can't work out if that would be an improvement or just an escape.
