Look at all these improvements!!

Version 2.4n - We'll make great pets
(February 10, 2003)
Exchange Manager Receive, Part 1
Beam JPEG, GIF or BMP images to AcidImage via IR or Bluetooth
View attachments from within SnapperMail
Send images from your phone via IR or Bluetooth
Note: AI does not currently save the image it receives - this is still in the works
Added custom launch code to allow viewing BMP, GIF, JPEG images on VFS volume from other applications (no exchange manager needed, just a volume reference number and pathname) - SDK forthcoming (sample code available now, just ask)
Zoom/Pan ARMlet - Much faster zooming & panning on OS 5 devices
Auto-repeat on zoom +/- buttons
Real-time zoom attached to zoom slider
Jog dial zooms when zoom tools are open, regardless of jog dial preference setting (this allows you to switch images w/jog dial, while still using jog to zoom when zoom tools are open)
Fixed thumbnail memory issue - thumbs are now deallocated properly - fixes many "Insufficient Memory (case 0)" issues
Rearranged some menu items - check Tools drop-down menu
Added "Ungroup Checked" function - remove images from a group without deleting original
High-res launcher icons for OS 5
Tap screen to skip past animated "AcidImage" intro
From Image View, you can now:
Get Info (and set privacy status from info dialog)
Rename
Group
Ungroup
Delete
Fixed Private function on some CLIEs (invalid password was ignored when viewing JPEGs on T665, NR, NX)
Added a file system "hidden" attribute fix - if files marked with "hidden" attribute were showing up, they should be gone now
Fixed some roughness with panning on NX and OS 5 devices in general
Added ability for internal images to be added to memory stick groups, and vice versa
Thumbnails will no longer be rotated if image is auto-rotated (but thumbs will rotate if you manually rotate image)
Some more notes on Exchange Manager
Received images are not saved anywhere. We're working on that.
AcidImage will set itself to be the default receive app according to your settings in AcidImage's new "Receive Types" menu (under Options) Note that some applications, notably PhotoBase, aggresively set themselves to be the default receive application, no matter what, so if you have PhotoBase or a similar app installed, it will constantly knock AcidImage from the "default" space. Instead of battling with these apps and making things worse, we assert our settings according to the options you have checked, and we only do it when AcidImage is launched. Hopefully other apps will play nice in the future and follow a similar approach to let you decide - otherwise you will never have control over the default receive app.
Please let us know how this feature is working, e.g. receiving images from Bluetooth enabled phones, etc.
Free upgrade to current owners
Enjoy

It would be great if Launcher X and ZLauncher added support to open images with this.

The link is here.

Did you let RedMercury know about this?

I haven't played with it a whole lot yet, but I haven't had any lockups on my NY70V. The "real time zoom" also works, ie the size changes as you move the slider, without lifting the stylus.

I bet you're right Dave that it is device-specific. I haven't noticed any problems on my NX.

Nor I on my N760!

The zoom retention feature and the Jog dial press function work perfectly and not a lock-up yet! AI is almost to the point of purchase for me! Too bad I can't convert JPEG's to BMP's for ZLauncher backgrounds.

Second, how is the "Hidden" attribute working for you?  Try setting the Security to Hide Records, then use a file manager to set the Hidden attribute on a couple of images.  What I am seeing at this point is that with the attribute set to hidden, AI does not see the file whether Security is set to Hide Records or Show Records.  Note that marking an image as Private through AI must use an AI table, because it does NOT set the system attribute to Hidden. Dave, I think you're confused on the hidden attribute. Hidden records and private records are two different things, and it sounds like you think they should be the same. Making a record private SHOULD NOT turn on the hidden attribute that you see in some file managers. And records that have the Hidden bit turned on should not be affected by the Security setting. This is true for all apps, not just AI. When RM said this:Added a file system "hidden" attribute fix - if files marked with "hidden" attribute were showing up, they should be gone nowI'm interpreting it as meaning that in older versions of AI, pics with the Hidden attribute turned on were showing up in the pic list anyways; with the current version, they are correctly not being shown regardless of the Security setting. That's the way it's working on my device.

It definitely seems like a work-around, as in general, it seems that records within databases can be set to Private, while files (apps and entire databases) can be set to Hidden. So the fact that AI is allowing files to have a Private setting seems like a hack. Probably a good hack though, since non-technical people won't necessarily understand why pics in a list should be any different from memos in a list, and this solution allows them to act in the same way.

I'm trying it out on a T665 and haven't had any lockups or crashes at all on 2.4n. On zoom, slide show or regular stuff. Haven't done a ton with it -- I don't like the way it sort of redraws maps when I move them around to see different parts of them. Seems to hold the zoom settings, next time I open a zoomed photo, it's still zoomed.

I don't have a lot of hacks -- Mi(colon)D dictionary, McPhling, Fonthack, Tealscript rescript, Message Ease, that's it. Only other system things are Keep Sleep and Zlauncher, which is what I'm running AcidImage under. Oh, the command-line option for BDicty.

Got a bug on the trial version of AI 2.4 I think :)

Using a nr70v and an unregistered trial veriosn of AI; the trial period has now finished (on my way to pay as we speak for full version) but I did download the beta 2.4 out of curiosity. Now when I start AI it asks me to register (which is fine) but when I cancel the enter code screen the system flicks bn the register now and register enter number screen = this flickering can only be stopped by reseting the device.

Not sure if this is a bug or a 'gentle' reminder that I need to register!

I've reported this to aibe at RM

Another fine app that just keeps getting better all the time!

So far no issues on the NX

Using 2.4n and trying to quickly page through photos with the Jog dial (scrolling to the next photo while the current image is still loading) will frequently cause the jog dial click sound to start repeating, and the unit is stuck in this repeat loop until I eject the MS.

This is on an NR70v. And it still happens even after a hard reset with nothing loaded except AI2.4n.

Wow! Sent bug report to Red-Mercury late last night and got a reply already - and it's Saturday! These guys rock.

Tim -
We've had two others report this bug. We're going to try to nail this one on Monday.

Thanks for the report,

I tried it for a while BUT while using the jog wheel to scroll through photos it would lock on me...

Anyone else have that problem with an NX?
