I have a T665. If I run MSIMPORT with a memory stick in the slot, MSIMPORT starts up and shuts down after a few seconds. During this time, if I'm connected to my PC (Windows 2000), the removable drive appears in Explorer.

If I start MSIMPORT with no memory stick, it continues to run. I can use the menu, say disconnect, etc. As soon as I put a memory stick in the slot, MSIMPORT stops.

I have a 128Meg Lexar MS. I've also tried with a Sony 32Meg and the saem things happens.

The MS is formatted and I can read and write on the T665. I can launch applications from it. It's only MSIMPORT.

HELP!

Thanks

Bob

Rule No.1 for MSImport: DO NOT remove the memory stick out of the Clie when you launch MS Import.

When you launch MSImport (with MS in your Clie, I hope), you will see a picture of Palm connected to PC with blue dots. Above it, there is a phrase "Connected to PC". Below it, there is a button saying "Disconnect". If you see this screen then you are set to go.

You have problem with connection to PC if the phrase above the Palm/PC picture says "Check connection with host" or if you push the button on the bottom and the button then says "Connect", which both means that you are NOT connected.

Sometimes there could be a problem with the MS device driver, especially with Win 98, is not "sticking" to the USB controller.  You can check this by launching the MSImport and then go to Device Manager (right click on My Computer, click on Properties, open Device Manager tab, go down to the bottom of the list, and click on "+" sign next to Universal serial bus controller).  The "Sony PEG Mass Storage" should be displayed.  Also under Disk drives you should see "Sony CLIE xxxxx", where xxxxx is your model number.  Otherwise you may want to reinstall MS Export again from the Installation CD-ROM.  Win 98 may recognize the new driver and may ask you to load the Win 98 CD, just follow the procedure shown on the screen.

Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Make sure you had successfully installed the desktop counterpart of the MS-Import program. This is found in the Clie disk under its miscellaneous utilities section.

You must install the Windows drivers so that Windows can interpret the MS-import signal sent by your PDA through the USB cable.

stay cool, dude.

I constantly have problems when trying to move files to my palm this way. My desktop is WinXP and when I launch MSimport on my sony, its recognized and the MS shows up as a drive in Explorer. I can navigate thru my folders etc. But almost every time I try to copy something to my MS the explorer window just stops responding and I eventually have to lift my sony out of the cradle. Occasionally I can copy a file, but it's frustrating. I tried installing Sonys update on their website, but it didn't help. T615

My problem turned out to be a conflict with Launch'Em and was strictly a problem on the Clie. My W2K setup was fine. I reposted in Apps (probably should have been there originally - sorry). Here's the link http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3528.

Plaid, the first thing I suggest is to make sure you can launch MSImport without the Clie in the cradle (MS in). This will ensure that MSImport works on its own. If needed, uninstall and re-install the MS drivers. You actually don't need MSExport on XP since you can drag-n-drop (cut-n-paste) in Explorer. There may be the following:

Clie MS SCSI Sriver
MS Export

You may also want to force a driver update using the Add/Remove hardware wizard.

Good luck.

Also, for users of Norton Anti-Virus and Personal firewall. Before engageing msimport, Disable the virus and firewall's. This was an issue for my setup (windows XP home) Clie T665C. No more MSimport / Export problems with this proceedure.
