Hi like to know if there's a software to toggle the wifi on and off fast like the BtToggle?
I am find it a little troublesome to have to go thru the pref - network menu to turn off the wifi when some programs do not turn off wifi on exit.

If you exit your internet connected programs, the WiFi should turn off by itself.
You can check to see if the WiFi light is off by the indicator light on the side of the screen.

I have the same problem...while some applications like NetFront turns off the Wifi on exit, others like TuSSH does not.
I have to disconnect it manually from Pref-Network screen.

I've looked for the same thing. IF bttoggle had a few more quick options like this the $ would be easier to justify...

I'd certainly find this useful! WorldMate Pro and Vindigo Wireless Sync do not disconnect WiFi when they exit, either.

But without BtToggle, its a little troublesome to switch ON the wifi back....

I don't understand, Edoras - BT Toggle only controls BlueTooth, not WiFi. We are seeking something similar to BT Toogle, but for WiFi.
As far as WiFi goes - SnapperMail, NetFront, WebPro, SmbMate, Vindigo and WorldMate Pro all either connect automatically or ask if you wish to connect now.
Which app are you using that requires you to switch WiFi on manually?
Personally I mainly need to toggle WiFi off after using those careless apps that leave the connection active when they exit.

That's ok, Edoras! I typed "Toogle" instead of "Toggle", didn't I?! ;-)

every program that needs wifi, will turn wifi on by itself.
many apps (netfront, cliemail, smbmate) have a special button for connect/disconnect.
and if they dont, simply turn your clie off and on.

I'd love to see ZLauncher add optional toggle tools for both WiFi and BlueTooth. Lacking that, I'd like a WiFi Toggle app, since I'd use it even more than I use BT Toggle.
For now, I set up a preferences button in ZLauncher to disconnect from the network, rather than power off.

SMBmate and Snappermail both have an option to disconnect on exit and after send/receive mail..

Yes, thanks, we know that. We're talking about the few apps that don't offer this option.

Yeah, its always a troublesome to switch of wifi. It surely drains our battery fast even when not ysing it (but the wifi lights is still on)....

NetSelect is my solution!

Just assign any hard buttons and voila! Toggle WiFi on/off anytime you like.

Wow, thanks, terencek! I just tried it - nice little app. I set it for a jog dial push. Flawless.
I update Vindigo (and the currency exchange rate via WorldMate) every day, and this is much quicker than going to preferences to disconnect.
If it could toggle BT as well, I'd be in wireless paradise! Thanks again!

I am using it with BtToggle, and it works pretty well. Try it, I am sure you will like it!

Why don't you just cycle your clie off and then immediately back on to turn off WiFi?
Because the UX50 takes no time at all to turn on, the only extra time is the wireless hardware turning off.

Not really a great idea, actually. First of all, most of us have noticed the weakness of the UX/NX power switch. Some members have even had them fail. (There are one or two threads on this.) I try to use the switch as little as possible.
Secondly, although I personally don't use the Power Saving feature, many do. Now that is a long load up time, and not a thing you want to endure on a frequent basis! :-)
