Got my 2nd TJ35 after returning the first one to Best Buy after the batter kept going dead...

Charged the 2nd one for 4 hours like it says in the manual. Everything worked fine. Turned it on the next day and the battery indicator said full. I thought, 'Cool! This one works'. Did some work on it and then shut if off and put it back into my briefcase in 'hold' mode. Battery indicator was at 75%.

Next morning i turned it on and NOTHING. Battery was dead.

IT's going back to Best Buy and I'll go with the TG50.

This really is a shame because I like how everything works on the TJ35 and I also like the size of it. The TG50 is bigger and I don't think i'll use the keyboard... Oh well.

Anyway, thanks for letting me rant!

hmm, you should have kept the last one you had and sent it in for sony, free of charge, this would have saved the money, and time for you.

Can't they be turned off ? My SJ33 has Hold but it also has just plain off. Hold is only used for playing MP3's with the screen off. In hold mode the device will still be on just not the screen so naturally it would die quicker

It was shut off when i slid the button to "hold" mode. This should prevent the unit from coming in in my briefcase, etc....

I exchanged it for a Palm Tungsten T3

I know the answer is probably obvious, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Were you listening to MP3s (using aeroplayer) then just "turned it off" by switching the button to hold? Aeroplayer will play in the background when if you had been listening to it then switch on the hold button. I did the same thing. I had been listening to MP3's and pulled out my headphone jack, switched it over to hold and boom, 4 hours later used it again only to find that the battery was dead.

I never used Aeroplayer, so I guess the answer is 'no'. I thought perhaps I was doing something wrong, but the guy at Bestbuy seemed to be pretty knowledgable with the Sony Clie lineup and he confirmed that I was using it correctly.

the guy at Bestbuy seemed to be pretty knowledgable with the Sony Clie lineupYour Best Buy has mine beat. The joker at mine, when not pimping MSN and the extended service plan, kept pushing me towards Pocket PC devices, because they're "more powerful."

I haven't seen the new Clie's much but on previous ones you had to push it past on to put it on hold which would in effect turn it on before turning off just the screen & locking the buttons. If the TJ35 is the same than that was the problem.
