I recently upgraded to the nx80v from the nx70v, and although some feature are an improvement, anyone reading these forum as much as I do will know many features are a far cry from better. One of which is the video capture. I have not been able to find an answer for it or an explanation. Indeed it is worse to my disbelief. (video appears jagged and choppy, in summary very low quality from previous) Does it have to do with the settings? Previous Nx70v owners will be able to relate since you can compare, but really, what happened to this feature?
Sony, I’m not expecting DVD quality, but at least a step forward or at least the same but not a step backwards? How is this allowed?
Is this frustrating you too?

Yeah, I noticed that too. It is kinda annoying, but I guess the improved still camera hardware isn't so good at taking motion clips. I love the still camera though.

Every handheld after the NX70V which I had has been a step back or many steps back from the quality of the video of the NX70V. I am very dissatisfied of videos, and have been waiting for some fix. If in this forum you place a search on user on "gusanitoverde" you will see the many threads i have been involved in this matter, it has been a year and still no fix...
Any ideas?

You are absolutely right. The resolution of the NX80's video is pure $#!+. Sony purposely devolped the NX80's video as a step down from the NX70 to push the sales of the UX. The UX carries better video and the NX has better pics. Like a trade off to sell both products.
It would make sense to have one unit with high quality pics and video but the more diverse products Sony pushes, the more money they can take from ya. This marketing strategy really works too as there are people dumb, <<< my opinion, enough to buy both for high pics and video. As for me, I'm going to buy that new shiny DSC-T1 camera from Sony for those 5 Megapixel pic shots and MPEG-VX Fine Mode video clips.. << whatever that means :D . Then i'll just take that 1 Gb Sony Memory Stick and put it in my NX70 and let it play. No more waiting for a higher quality Clie! :D

I’m starting to miss my NX70V. And I know there’s a lot of folks who swear by the new NX80v. As it’s a recent upgrade for me, these things just get under my skin, especially for the lack of consumer testing and downright not listening to the users.
For example, minor but important in value; the speaker now on the NX80v sits lower on the back of the unit than the NX70v did. Guess what, most of the time if the an alarm goes off and it on the cradle, the cradle covers the speaker! So now even the alarms sound can be consider a step back too!
SONY, listen, pay attention to detail, it’s not about making something, but making it better, Quality not Quantity!
No matter how much one reads these forums, it hard to miss all the details from others until you have the unit first hand and see for yourself.

Oh... Sony knows about these things.. That's why they're so many Clie models available. Wouldn't it make sense to have a speaker in the front right under the keyboard? This could be possible from a hardware engineering point of view but how would Sony sell their speaker docking station? I just wish they would dump CF, <<<< completely useless in my opinion, and put a speaker with a sub in there :D . Occupy the space with something I will use instead. I know CF is cheaper and all but it's more of a hassle to deal with than a Sony mem stick. Boo hoo.. My CF needs a driver.. I can't do this and that.. My CF app doesn't.. Blah blah blah.. You know the complaints and whinning. << But that's my opinion. I'd love a 1 Gb of RAM as opposed to a CF slot for a 1 Gb piece of CF.

Definately If you ask me YES IT IS CERATILNLY A GOOD INVESTMENT!!
Here is Why
PROS:
1. NO PTL Error a huge heap that means better Performance.
2. Video Playback better
3. Better Camera Quality
4. Out of Box CF Support.
5. 32 MB of usable memory after using Jackflash
6. All the updates are already in the ROM
7. 1.3 MP camera.
8. Slimmer than NX70
9. Gorgeous Screen
10. Battery Life is Phenomenol, I use mine the whole day for PIM apps for about 3 hours and Battery stays at freaking 100%.
CONS:
1. The CF slot has to be handled gently as it is connected to the motherboard.
2. More Fragile than NX70V I think.
3. Screen not as responsive as NX70.
4. Stylus is a joke.
I had NX60 and upgraded to NX80 and this was the best dollars that I spent recently.
Regarding the Video recording quality I will say the NX70 did a Poor job and NX80 does a Horrible job.
face it, all Sony is doing with us is experimenting.

I'd have to agree with Anand78's list. I went from a NX70 to NX80 and have been very pleased. I wanted a better still camera so it was a worthwhile upgrade for me.
I'd like to add one more thing to the PRO list: the 4 additional app buttons in tablet mode. That was a subtle, but wise move on Sony's part.
Now if they could only fix the screen sensitivity....
