Can anyone recommend any virus software for Clie Mail?

I'm using Norton 2003 Pro on my Laptop but would like to protect my network.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

There are no known viruses for PalmOS. Shhh, we best not talk about this any longer, lest someone will write one!

Thanks for that.

How about receiving files on your Clie and transferring back to the PC. Can you send somthing dodgy back to your PC?

Thanks for the link, it's been bookmarked. But I do not understand what this has do do with Viruses? or was this just a friendly piece of advice?

Thanks anyway, it's a nice site.

I found that McAfee Office supports Palm's. I installed Palm Desktop, HotSync etc and then installed McAfee Office (which includes the VirusScanner). It turns out that it installed a Virus Scanner for my Palm. However, if I install McAfee then Palm Desktop etc, the Palm virus scanner is not installed. It installs a couple of apps on your Palm and can be configured to check for viruses every time you sync

Thats a shame, I just brought Norton 2003 Pro.

I am a bit confused about syncing our UX's and getting the message "do you want to send this file" and something about transferring a virus.

I guess Norton will pick up anything sent that looks dodgy.

Thanks all for the advise.

I am required to have McAfee where I work - they pay for it. It makes for annoying hotsyncs because it (depending how it is configured) scan all files at the begining and end of hotsync. Very lengthy. There were/are three viruses out there - minimal damage. Norton claims that - if you scan *.* vs. just *.exe - it will catch a virus (from your archive or backup on your PC). McAfee has a scanner it installs and runs from your palm.

Bottom line - minimal concern for viruses but since it's a small file and I surf from my palm now (and its required where I work) I have it. I just disabled the scan during hotsync and plan on manually scanning my palm whenever I surf to unknown places.

Virus scanning Palms is a complete waste of time. If you don't get your software from any dodgy sites you'll be fine.

The chances of someone mailing you a Palm-compatible virus and it executing on your PDA are probably somewhat less likely than your PDA spontaniously combusting in your hands.

I'm not saying it's impossible - I'm just saiying you'll probably never get to see it happen.

I agree 3 viruses that do nothing vs. a million on PCs - no biggie. But rules are rules where I work!
