Hello. I've happily been using an NR-70V for about four months, mostly making due with a number of great freeware programs. To date, I've only purchased Yishow Explorer, Kinoma Producer, Bejeweled, and an advanced Avanto Go account. I'm thinking about purchasing some more programs now, but thought it wise to ask the advice/opinion of fellow users first. Anyhow, here are the programs I'm considering, if you have any experiences with them you'd be willing to share, I'd appreciate your imput.

1) Acid Image. I've noticed that many list it on their "must-have" list of applications. Unfortunately, I haven't seen a trial version of it. How good is it for organizing non-converted images? What about speed reading reading images from MS? Featurewise, what would I get over using PG Pocket for snapshots and converted images and Yishow for other formats?

2) Vivid. I like the interface which is clean and easy to use, and I like that there are a number of options for converting the image on my desktop, but I'm wondering if there isn't a better program for video. I know about Full Screen Utilities, but the trial version doesn't have the video function enabled. I don't find the video quality of Vivid to be bad, but wouldn't want to buy it and then find out there was a better program with higher fps.

3) World Mate. I've been using the trial version. I like have weather and exchange rates updated with each hotsync. Country codes, measurement conversion and clothig sizes also come in handy since I'm living abroad. What other features does the registered version have?

4) Megacalculater. Nice looking, hires+, a vast improvement over the calc packaged with the unit. Haven't found anything like it among the freeware programs, but perhaps I just haven't looked in the right places. If you know of a similar freeware program, let me know.

5) Handstory. I've been using Avant Go since buying my Clie. I have about 25 channels set up that I read regularly. Honestly, I'm happy with the program and its ease of use, and since I updated my account it is unlikely that I would want to replace it with another program. What I would want is a program to supplement it. I'd like to be able to get various documents or random websites onto my MS quickly and without a hassle. I tried Plucker, but found it to be slow and frustrating.

6) P-Jongg or like game. If anyone knows of a good freeware version, it would be nice if you could pass on some information.

Thanks in advance.

I have an NR-70, and the registered version of AcidImage. I think it's well worth the buy. Loading images from the memory stick doesn't take too long. It depends on how big the file is. But what's cool is it''l read jpegs, bmps, gifs, and a few other kinds of files from you memory stick. Oh yeah, it also lets you collapse the grafitti area, so you can look at more files at one time. I just searched and found a trial version it's located here. (http://www.red-mercury.com/dl.php?l=AcidImage&p=AcidImage)
Sorry I can only help you with AcidImage. Hope all this helps.

Oh, as for Acid vs. PG, you get Hi-Res, much easier slideshow controls, files don't have to be converted, collapsable graffitti area, a lot easier to use altogether. Again, you can download the trial and see for yourself.

If you need to work in multiple timezones and do a fair about of travel then WorldMate is an absolute must. The registered verion doesn't really have any more than the trial version (although the trial does expire!).

I'm an Australian working for a UK based company in the Caribbean and frankly I couldn't function without it. The currency conversion app alone is worth the price.

As a rule of thumb if I use an app more than a couple of times a week I buy it; gets you on the upgrade path and keeps the coders coding!
