NX 70 touch screen DEAD! HELP!

this morning my nx 70 although last night was working fine, suddenly the touch screen stoped responding. nor the stilus or my finger had any effect while on the screen. i can onlu operate and navigate with the jog dial. everything else works fine. Has anyone encountered this problem before? what should i do? it looks like a hardware problem to me. and as i am in greece and have bought my clie from the states i don't think that my waranty will be accepted. am i in big trouble??? hope not. what should i do????

Have you tried a soft reset?

try a hard reset (hold down power key while resetting)

sounds like there may be asoftware problem, I had a similar problem an the hard reset solved it

have you just added a screen protector? I used a nonSony brand once and it killed the screen while it was on... took it off and all was fine again...

Always better than the hard reset if it'll work.
Most my problems are sorted with a soft reset, but I havn't had this problem yet.

I read something about a warm reset. I forgot how to get it to work, but you can try doing a search here. If I remember correctly, it only resets the ROM files. Then I could be wrong.

Hmmm since im bored here goes:

A soft reset is where you just press the reset button and let it start up.

The next step is a warm reset, you press the up page button while resetting, this is used to delete files that crash your clie, you press ctrl+h to get to the launcher.

Then the hard reset when all else fails, which is power button whilst resetting and then up to restore to factory standard.

If though this is a hardware problem none of these will solve it.
Has your clie been dropped/banged recently??

tried a soft reset and nothing worked. no screen protector is instaled and my clie hasn't been droped. i'l try a warm reset and let you know. thank you.

warm reset did not work. i tried a hard reset and nothing worked again. i guess it's a hardware problem. i don't have my receipt though. do i need it for waranty? any of you has the original receipt? could you email me a copy just in case i need it? here in greece things with waranty are a bit tricky. my email is totisgr@yahoo.com on my way to find the only sony authorised dealer... this is not going to be fun at al.. :-(

I know u have warranty on the clie. But it seem that the digitiser connection cable is not connected with the keyboard.
I dont know how it looks inside the NX but, try to open the Clie and look after the cable it should be about 0,5 cm wide

I'd try the sont dealer too see if theres any chance with the warrenty before opening it up!

although i have studed electronics engeneering and it's quite tempting to make my clie small pieces, i'll try to see if waranty will work. thank you for all the advice though.

I contacted Sony greece who had no idea what a clie is. i got redirected to sony europe in Bruchels. I caled them up and the answer that i got was that they can not repair my clie because it was bought from the US and that it's different from the European NX70 model. how is that possible? my only chance is to send an email to Sony US asking them about it, or to send my clie to one of my boys in the states, and then they should contact sony US to get it repaired... DISSAPOINTED! International warranty my A@#!
