The name of the clie that hotsyncs? how do i chasnge it. I want to use my old one spectre on my new one, the silver persian.

Go to palm desktop and go under users names, find the name that you are using now and edit it to the name you want, If the name you want to use is already in the list then delete it first before you edit the first name. Hope this helps.

Hey Khakiman,
If you change your Hot sync name, then what about all the software registration codes that were generated using your previous id. Won't they become invaild.? also to obtain free upgrades and stuff from the software people you have already bought from.

If you are just wanting to change the name then when you edit the name (not delete) then all the folders with the files in it will be linked to the new name you changed it to. All your reg codes should be alright unless it requires the actual hotsync ID. I only know of one that requires it and I think it was MS Money. Also if you are going to delete the name , then before you do it go to you Sony folder files and find the name you are going to delete and save all your backup files to a new folder somewhere on your C drive. Then when you have your new hotsync name take that info and move it into your new name back up folder.

Most registration codes are generated off of the hotsync ID so be careful.

Yes, the majority of the software I own, the unlock code is hotsync ID specific. If you MUST change your hotsync ID, and find software you own that becomes unregistered, you should be able to contact the company/developer giving them your new hotsync ID and verification that you purchased their product, and they will issue you a new unlock code.

It was ages before I bought my first bit of software (ToneDial) as there are so many freeware and still usable crippleware apps and games out there.

So uhh . . . . before i finished reading this post, i kinda deleted both of my names.
First name was "Clié PEG-NX60" cause i was new to this pda thing and i decided to make it simpler without the accented "e" and such, so i made another name of "Clie NX60" but i guess it kept syncing under the longer name.
now, it won't hotsync. i did, however, save the folders labeled "Backup" and "archive" i just don't know what directory to put them back to now . . . .
