Yup, my nX80 is sadly having a problem with the digitizer failing to respond every now and then - I can exercise my warranty but would rather wait and trade up at the same time.

I think that Sony is going to dissapoint once again if you want a tablet 320x480 device.

it will be interesting to see what sony does to the next tg, i think they will put the 320x480 screen. No chance for a slider or dual slots.same memory as tj, etc.

Next to upgrade is the nz and tg. Then the UX. By that time, we're going to see os6 upgrades for every one of these including the new low-end that just came out (the tj). The two series that have not been upgraded at all yet are the nz90 and the tg50. It will be interesting what they do to them.

What might the timeline be for these new upgrades? I remember about 3 years ago I started thinking about buying a PDA. I was waiting for ones with Palm OS 5, then I was waiting for ones with Bluetooth, then WiFi, and a nice camera. So far the UX-50 is damn near close to perfect yet I'm still holding off for something a little bit better. Maybe a nicer screen, or better camera, or better battery life, or faster processor, or CF slot, or whatever. I can't quite find the perfect PDA at the right price and form factor. I should just bite the bullet and get a UX-50 but I can't help but feeling like Sony will be upgrading it soon with an even better model.

I think the UX40/50 (Zaurus Cxx) design is a winner for my needs. Ideally, I'd like a UX50 with a 640x480 resolution and a larger screen (which it'll need for the VGA res). Oh and make it portrait/landscape switchable on the fly.

X Destruction: Why do you say they will upgrade the UX before the NX? The NX is one of the more popular desgins, I think there just going to add a better camera to the NX and make the swivel more stable etc.
I dont think the UX really calls out to a lot of business people who use PDAs, so it cant become the main clie PDA!

We might even see a clie with an inbuilt phone! so you can make phonecalls using a handsfree kit!
It'd sell alrite, it would be the ultimate in PDA!
Sorry about the 2 posts this was just an afterthought

Whatever the next model is, they should make the casing user replaceable.
Then you definately wont need a seperate case, just replace the covers and personalize.
How difficult could it be?
Nokia's been doing it for ages!

The UX will NOT be updated before the NX. The NX update already came out in the NX73v/NX80v. It will probably be updated again in OS6, I think.

DonWon, replaceable covers would make the clie even more easily breakable! And Sony would probably charge about 20-40 for each case!
I guess NZ and NX serries will merge into one line since there is really a small difference between NX80 and NZ90.
sony desperately needs middle range model (what TG50 was)
there are only hi-end and low end models available at the moment. nothing in between

I agree that the NZ and NX lines will probably merge. I think the next thing we're going to see is a TG replacement, followed by an NX replacement. Probably as soon as February, and hopefully running OS6, Which is less than a month away.
I'd really like to see a Clie with cell capabilities. If Sony is afraid of losing phone sales to Clie owners... well, that's kind of stupid, given that they're still Sony customers either way. If there's no sign of a cell-enabled Clie by June, Sony might get left in the dust. - But we're talking about Sony here, who hates getting left in the dust. I'm hoping for a cell-NX by March.
