Hello,
I live in Japan, and I have a Sony NX60 Clie with a Wireless internet connection, thanks to the magic of Japans Wireless network.
I have so far been unable to replace the basic functionality I had out of the box with the Compaq 3870 Ipaq - in that I could use messenger, mail and surf the internet.
I am pretty much converted now to the Palm Platform, however I would really like suggestions on what software to install to accomplish basic internet tasks.
Could you guys possibly give me your suggestions on mail clients, web browsers, messenger clients and possibly news readers that work well with wireless connections.
Any other useful wireless program suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot for your help and suggestions,
Best Regards
Jason

Are you on a wireless LAN using the Sony PEGA-WL100 WiFi card?

I don't have theWiFi card, but do access the internet with the Bluetooth MS and my Sony Erricosn T68i. I use WebProV, with the graphics turned off (I pay by the Megabyte and can't afford downloading a lot of graphics), and I use SnapperMail for an e-mail client. It is an excellent POP3 client and I am very pleased with its functionality.

Hello there,
Actually I am using a special card called AirH, which basically acts as a modem, allowing me to access the internet from just about anywhere in Japan.
So I have a 24 hour unlimited internet connection. The downside is the speed - the bandwith is make 10/12k per second, but the ping time is a bit high, around 200/300/400 depending.
So, basically im still welcoming suggestions for Mail Clients, News Clients, Web Browsers and Messenger style clients(preferably ones that can run in the background).
SnapperMail! Sweet, ill give it a shot.
Thanks for your advice,
Jason

mail: I've used Papi, Iambic, and Versamail; Papi is good but no attachments, Iambic is good for attachments, but IMAP support is not too great; versamail does best for me on attach/IMAP - there are a few threads on this board about e-mail apps
web: I use NetFront, but probably not best on slow connection - I'd check other threads for this
IM: versachat (www.pdaapps.com) seems best since it supports AIM, Yahoo, and MSN - it's pricey though (annual fee) so make sure you read their docs/price plan
News: still looking for a good one
FTP: I use vfstp
I also use WinHand for remote desktop control, but I doubt that it will run well without a faster connection
Hope this helps, most of these apps can be had at www.palmgear.com

Is the Clie compatible with such a card? Are you getting a connection? You should be able to use CLIE Mail for your email needs...

Uh, yes the Japanese version(and probably the english version with the right drivers) is compatible, and uh, yes I am getting a connection.
This is not an internet connection problem(?!), I am looking for good software to replace what my Ipaq 3870 used to do. Clie Mail, put simply, sucks. Netfront is so slow as to be unusable.
If you have any other suggestions I would be happy to hear them.
