First I know this has been covered and I have read all the threads. I still need an answer.
I have been tryng to use any other system for music on my NX rather than sonic stage and atrack. I can't seem to download music macth I am not sure why (lack of memory) regardless that's out.
windows media player and peleca's driver can successfully save wmma to cf audio directory I followed the instructions a million times. I just cna't seem to convert any of my CDs to MP3 format I have downloaded winamp and I don't even see anything more than a player. I really need to figure this out because I am ocd and I will keep trying until I wast a huge part of my life or I figure it out. I might also cry. Thanks for any help, Francis
You can get a freeware programme off the internet called CDex which can convert cd's to MP3 - http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/.
There are also some programmes you can download which will convert your existing WMA files on your desktop to MP3. These usually offer a try before you buy option, long enough to convert all your WMA tracks anyway.

You might cry? What the...
I don't think the NX70 or any of the NX's play files in the WMA format. Only MP3's. To convert CD's I use ALTO MP3 CONVERTER. I record them at 96kb to save space. Then I put them in the MSAudio folder on my MS. Forget about Sony's Atrack, delete that program. I have never tried out that CDex program but it is worth a try.

If you want to save even more space convert at 32kb. For audio books it is fine. I use Goldwave and recently found instructions for converting Audible.com content that I had lost. I use CDEX to rip audio books from CD. You can put a lot of content on your CF cards or MS. Use Album swap to go between yur different CDs.

RealAudio player is free and can convert to MP3 format. I use it to rip my CDs to MP3 and load them onto the Memory Stick using MSImport or on to the CF card using a CF card reader.

If you already have ATRAC working, then why are you changing? It's not bad afterall, especially since you already have it working. Sonic Stage is one of the faster rippers I've seen. It even has the option to convert the bitrate on-the-fly so you can decide each time you checkout whether you want more quality or more music. Saves you a lot of trouble.
You could save all this trouble for later, when you upgrade from MagicGate to Pro, for example ... especially if you could cry ... :-/
