Brand new to pda's - just bought a clie nx73v/e &b i want to use it for ebooks. Friend has installed PalmReader on the clie for me, but when I try to hotsync the ebook from my laptop which is in microsoft reader format I get an error message because there is no device intsalled on the clie to read the book.
Do I need microsoft reader on the clie?
Or PalmReader on the laptop?
Or do I have to download directly onto the clie via some bluetooth or wireless system (which I'm not yet set up for)?

You could try the palm acrobat reader from adobe.com. That should let you read any file in .pdf format.

There is no e-book reader on the Palm that can do the Microsoft e-book (.lit) format.

You can't sync a Microsoft reader book to your clie.

There is no Microsoft Reader software for the Palm OS (Clie).

You CAN hotsync books just fine . . . you don't need to do it via blue tooth or wireless. I hotsync books on an almost daily basis (I read a lot!).

You CAN put PalmReader on your laptop, but it does NOT read Microsoft Reader (.lit) books.

You may find this thread (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15292) helpful.

Good luck.

RichyF,
Does Adobe reader for Palm Os read pdf files in their native format or do we have to convert them into a readable format?

I have a 8MB pdf file that I would like to read on my nx80v. I have installed the latest version of adobe reader for palm oS and yet there is no option for file browsing to open the file, nor does it detect any of the pdf files on the CLIE.

Is there some particular folder that all the files must be saved to?
Thanks

When you download the Acrobat reader for your Palm it should leave an icon on your PC desktop. Click on that and it will open a window. Drag and drop a .pdf file into it and it will convert it to a Palm file which will be transfered at your next hotsynch. You have the option on the PC desktop to have the file saved to handheld/ Memory stick/ CF card. Just click the 'preferences' tab.
Once installed, open the palm reader on your handheld and it should find the file. It's never going to look as good as on the PC but it does a fair copy.

Picsel Viewer can read PDF's in native format as long as other document types.

Thanks a lot RichyF..
Avega....Piscel viewer can only open very small files. This is an 8mb file. Piscel viewer will never be able to open the whole thing.
Thanks again

acrobat reader for palm is VERY slow, i would be interested to hear how you make out with the 8mb file, my nx70 crashed and burned on a pdf @4mb....

IMO adobe has some work to do....
