I logged onto ClieSource to search for reviews on Hard Cases for my T-665. This didn't work very well due the Cliesource database being damaged. I hope a restore is possible.
Please Help me locate the best T-665 case for my needs.
I need:
1) Hard Case
2) Doesn't add too much size
3) Strong, able to place in back pocket (sit on it w/o damaging)
4) Access to all hw buttons/jog dial/headphone jack
5) Will survive for at least 6 months
If you own a T-665 and are happy with your case please respond.
Thanks

There are only 2 hard cases for the T665, the DSI one and the Innopocket (proporta, rhinoskin variants). They are pretty much the same, side opening. The major differenced between the two.
DSI.................................................Inno
plastic bottom................................all metal
Thicker and lighter.........................thinner and heavier
does not scratch the PDA...............may scratch PDA if
not correctly removed

What about MS Access?

I have one rhinoskin, and it offers ms access while in case. Only drawback is that the led indicating ms in use on the clie is covered. From the site for dsi, it looks like you have ms access while in the case, but can't tell for sure if led is covered.

I've heard quite a few people saying that the DSI case will scratch and scuff up the top of your Clie. Also, it is far, far easier to access the memory stick slot with the Innopocket.

Palie' commented that the innopocket solution can scratch the case. I have seen that statement made in other threads as well. Mine is getting a few scratches near the stylus silo, on the shiny surface.
One complaint several innopocket owners have made in other threads is that one of the clips that hold in the clie in place does not align properly. This clip fits to the clie on the lower portion of the clie where the inset is for the notch on cradle to rest in when charging/syncing. While some forum members have experienced this problem, others have said they haven't, or if they did, they exchanged it for another.
I picked mine up at the local CompUSA so I could see it first hand. I didn't realize this issue until after I had bought it and had inadvertantly scratched the case while carrying it in my pocket or I would have taken it back for an exchange.
While that one clip is loose, the other two fit where the flap locks in place and it sits in there securely.

How about a clip to keep the device in place in a shirt pocket? Brian

cehaney,
If you held your case upside down and shook it lightly, would it hold your Clie in? What about if you shook it harder...
Don't try this over concrete or anything...

Just tried shaking it lightly. No drops. Shook it harder, almost with the same force of getting catsup out of the bottle, and one of the clips came loose.
As I said before, I'm only able to use two out of three clips so it's not as tight as it could be. The lower end of the clie is loose, and when I shake it, that weight dangling is making matters worse. If you have a case with all clips working for you, I believe the results would be different.

Thanks alot for the info cehaney.
I was thinking, could you put some tape around the clips to make them tighter? Wouldn't that hold it in better?

DSI case does not scratch the top of 665. Also it is very easy to put clie in case and remove it. The clip things on Innopocket sound like a hastle. I am very happy with my DSI case that I bought on ebay for $20

I have the Rhinoskin hardcase (same as innopocket). It is very secure. I think I could sit on it without a problem.
You can get to everything just fine...

Well, shopping for a hard case atm, and being in Malaysia, I haven't yet located a retailer selling either Rhinoskin and DSI...
Does anyone know where I can find a company that would ship here without charging a bomb for delivery?
I'm leaning more to the Rhinoskin case...

Rhino Skin is Innopocket. Either you get scratches on the top or your case (DSI) or get Innopocket with 2/3 working clips. I want a metal case but I think I'll have to hold off. I don't feel like taking chances.

Actually, I have the cases defects in reverse. Guess what else, I just found my first dent today (no clue how it happened) so I guess I need to decide which one is better...

I decided to go with the DCI case due to its great features and stonger protection against opening under stress.

I bought the DSI and I have since bought other cases (I have never found my dream case) to replace it because it scratches the top on the sides of the Sony logo. It also scratched the side on the bottom right side. I guess its just bad luck. I also tried the innopocket before I bought the DSI. I had to send the innopocket back because the clips were 2 or 3mm off. I think I just have bad luck with cases but that is my experience.

Whoa... after reading all about the scratching hard cases especially the DSI one can cause... I'm now a bit scared of them. (I'm really very particular on anything that might get my clie scratched)
Are there other brand alternatives for the hard cases other than the DSI/Inno/Rhino models?

I really need a metal case and those are the only two options I know of.

For T615 owners (not the T665), Fellowes has an aluminum flip case.

This is to anyone who has the DSI case.
How thick is the metal in the case? Is it thick enough? Would you be able to bend it?

I have the Rhinoskin (AKA Innopocket) hard case and the DSI hard case. I do not use the Rhinoskin/Innopocket case for a few reasons. First, it is nearly impossible to get my Clie out of the case. I feel as if I am just going to drop it every time I try. The clips that hold it in are a PAIN! They grip too tightly, they scratch the back of my T665c, and it is just plain clumsy. Also, my memory stick gets in the way when I try to remove my clie, just a big old pain! Also, the case does not have a very secure closure method. I dropped it without my clie in it and it opened.
I use the DSI Hard case. It is VERY easy to get my Clie in and out.
It does NOT scratch my Clie anywhere. I don't know what you people are talking about when you say it scratches the top near the Sony logo, I have no problem with this and I've used it every day for months. The case closes with a very satisfying click. The medal is as thick as it should be in my opinion. I could not imagine bending it with any reasonable amount of force that might be put on it in a day. I would imagine you could sit on it and be fine, although I'm not going to try it.
Aireborne express lost my DSI, the company refunded my shipping charges and overnighted me a new case. Great customer service in my experience.
I've posted this else where but I think it bears mentioning again!
My T665c took its first real fall last night. It was in the DSI hard case. I missed the inside brest pocket of my coat and it fell about 4 1/2 feet or so to a carpeted floor with a very sickening THUD. The memory stick shot out across the room but the case did not open and Clie is just fine.
