you mean how long can you leave it off ?
well i think if you do the powersave mode and turn it off completely it can probably keep the battery life for a long time(not sure cuz i never tested this.
if you just turned it off normally i think you can leave it like that for a few weeks.

Correct. If I turn off the UX50 (but not use powersave mode) and then leave it in a drawer, how long before the internal battery dies.

oh it should be more than a week. i forgot what sony's claim was but that uses very little power so unless youre leaving it there for like a couple months you shouldnt worry. it is bad to leave lithium batteris unused for long periods of time. so if you are going to not use it for more than a month you should discharge first.
