Does anybody know if Sony will make upgrades of the OS (specifically versions 5.2 and 6.0) available for the NX70?

Thnx

No we do not know. But we can guess... I vote Yes...

That is something everyone here would love to know. I doubt it myself.

I doubt it, given that Sony has been ignoring everything else that apply to the NX... (CF driver, analog modem etc...)

There are analog modems that work on the NX.

I'd guess that Sony will come out with an update. All I really want is that new browser (better be as full-featured as Netfront!).

Well, if Sony don't release a PalmOS upgrade for the NX70V (and indeed other patches and upgrades) then I will not buy another Sony Clie again.

Sony, are you listening?

Not supported on the English version...

Maybe I'm mistaken, but wasn't it you who converted the Japanese CFUtils program so we could use certain analog modems? It's no longer compatible?

The modem works but Sony don't support any analog modem on the english version...
If you want you can ask they about the supported analogs modems on the english NX...

If we manage to demonstrate that OS5.0 is really buggy, Sony might release an update.

BTW, if Sony did try to put out an upgrade, it won't be for free. Does any of the documentation specifically state that the Sony is even in fact upgradable?

That's exactly what I'm thinking. If Sony doesn't release 5.2 for the NX, my next pda will be other brands. I lrather get a lesser grade product with a great support than a good product with terrible support (of course if we can find a good product with great support that'll be the best).

Sony's OS5 implementation doesn't seem buggy at all, at least to me. I have nearly 100 apps on my CLIE, WiFi, the Game Controller, and a few 'hacks' (like Tungsten fonts), and all work flawlessly.

hacks for os5? where, where....

You can try to use TealMaster as an OS5 Hackmaster replacement. According to the developers, it emulates certain system calls that OS4 hacks depended on, allowing the simpler hacks to operate under OS5.

Yes, Sony does give patches out for free... if you have a Japanese OS on your comuter this may be of use, other wise...

It is mostly PC side upgrades and nothing for the PDA its self.

No hint of a OS upgrade...

My understanding of the Babel fish translation is that it will show you your MAC address and the list of APs within reach...

I like the second feature !! :)

----8<-------8<-------8<------

The modification point from the Ver.1.0 is as follows.

* The performance which indicates MAC address in the picture of " WirelesscLan detailed setting " was added.

* Many access points to use it reached the point where it can receive.

I don't want 5.2... Graffiti 2 stinks! I want REAL graffiti, not Jot-Graffiti2.

TealMaster has support for OS5 hacks I believe. Nothing else.

Interestingly, I want a Jot2 that plays nice w/ other Palm apps--not Graffiti!
:D
Graffiti2 does seem to pale beside either straightforward Graffiti we're all used to, or full-featured Jot.

I just got the newest version of Jot and it does play nice with all of the applications. I now can drag images in AcidImage and maps in Mapopolis, just like I'm supposed to be able to do.
